No, not according to the article on the website/ Leicester Mercury, Hemsley says he is travelling out this weekend to Poland to speak to Doyle & another current GP rider, with a view to signing both for next season. But adds " I don't see that a clash of commitments between Leicester & the staging of the Grand Prix meetings will be a problem as I am formulating plans for a workaround as and when Jason will be missing but I cannot divulge what they are until I have cleared it with our governing body". I presume that because he doesn't mention having to cover the other rider on Grand Prix nights & it's unlikely he would sign 2 GP riders, it's someone who is currently a GP rider but will not be next season.

Lions only ran 2 EL home meetings on GP weekends this season, so there is no reason why they couldn't sign Doyle or any other GP rider & still run mainly saturday meetings with the odd bank holiday monday fixture included, like they did this year. And with Eastbourne looking unlikely to run next season they will possibly be 2 less home fixtures to ride anyway. So while it is not ideal to run elite league racing every other week it wouldn't be much different to the season just gone.

Sacking Riders After The Team Changes Deadline?
stevethelion replied to pointsmeanplayoffs's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
But if he had a sick note, why did Lions have to use a PL guest at BV. In his statement, Norrie Allen said Mads " dropped out of our fixture at BV, meaning i had to cover his absence with a PL guest." Surely if he had a sick note Lions could have used an elite league guest, which suggests no note was produced. -
Sacking Riders After The Team Changes Deadline?

Hardly top scored most matches.Top scored 7 times, 5 of which came before end of April. Since end of April has scored 117 points in 19 matches & managed to lose over 0.50 from his starting average. -
I will be most surprised if Mads appears tomorrow, even though he is listed in the team. I, like most of the other Lions fans who have commented on here have been disappointed in Mads. He started off ok, but then his form dipped & only the home performance against Coventry really stands out lately. And for an rider like him who knows all the elite league tracks well, to only average 5.86 away from home is pretty poor.

Leicester V. King's Lynn Thursday Sept 11th
stevethelion replied to Star Fever's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I was thinking if Mads wasn't fit then maybe Morris would come in for him, which would certainly make us stronger, as Mads hasn't been that impressive this season & Morris always flies round BP. But Mads is down to ride, but wouldn't be at all surprised to see him pull out after his injury last saturday, especially if he rides in Sweden tonight & aggravates it again. -

Tungate for Mads, Masters for Buckowski. Stead & Bates both fit according to Lions website. -
Only a guess but Lions have a home match on thursday against Kings Lynn in which they will be without Bates ( & Stead ) who are at Sheffield & just wondered if Sarjeant as been booked to ride as guest in that meeting, so meaning he wouldn't be able to take 2 guest bookings on the same track under the 8 day rule. And so perhaps Lions asked first, meaning he had to turn Swindon down.

I think R/R would have been a better choice than Kilmakorpi, especially in the home meeting. -

Leicester Vs Coventry 25/8

But as Leicester v Coventry is a re-arranged fixture doesn't the Mildenhall fixture take priority? If so i can see them insisting Bates rides for them. -
Leicester Vs Coventry 25/8
stevethelion replied to Bee 26's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just to further complicate things it's Lions cubs at Mildenhall with a 3.30pm start which would normally involve Clegg & Sargeant for Lions & Bates for Mildenhall, obviously Coventry will get first call on Sargeant & I imagine Clegg will be excused & ride in the elite league team, but can't imagine Mildenhall releasing Bates for a re-arranged fixture. Also Klindt, if fit will be at Scunthorpe, but that meeting starts at 3.00pm so will he & Howarth make it to Leicester for 7.30. -

Leicester V Poole, Saturday 23rd August 2014
stevethelion replied to Skidder1's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lions website says Leicester are definitely without Buckowski ( broken shoulder) & Klindt ( injured scaphoid),& are waiting on fitness checks for Korneliussen & Bates. So they are looking for guests & with 6 teams riding on saturday it won't leave much to choose from, especially as Poole have already grabbed track specialist Craig Cook & with Schlein not able to guest under the 8 day rule as he was at Leicester with Lakeside last saturday. -

Reserve pairings could again be the big difference, Jacobs & Perry should easily outscore Clegg & Hopwood, Wolves to win by 10. -

As Coventry Storm's meeting at Devon tomorrow is now off, surely it would make sense to use Sarjeant as guest to replace Bates ,instead of Greaves -

Yes, i was there & have to agree he did ride well that day, But still think we look weak at reserve for this match, hope i'm proved wrong.
