See how he adapts to the Ice.

Can anyone confirm if there has been a German winner of an individual round of the Series since it was introduced in 1994? The assembled press here are divided on whether Max Niedermaier is the first German winner of a round. My current available records only go back to 2013/14 and I can't access anything before then as I'm presently in Inzell, and the HDD with that info is at home. If you can help please DM Me asap
  4. At the moment, only Inzell and Berlin have confirmed dates, and I suspect the current situation will exclude any Russian involvement in the World Championship next season. Berlin plan to run from March 2 - 5. The Geman Championship is pencilled in for Thursday March 2. Inzell will run over the weekend of March 17 - 19, with Gunther Bauer's farewell on Friday March 17 No doubt Heerenveen will announce their dates shortly. There is nothing on Speedway Press about the Russian season, but they usually announce the fixtures in October. Whether it's possible to watch any meetings that are streamed will depend on whether or not they are on a site that's not being blocked.
  5. It's not as if there is another track in Berlin anymore. The Sport Forum where they staged the Master Of Spikes has long gone, with the building demolished and the track now an all weather Athletics track. Seems a little short sighted by the local Council, as they can't make that much money off the locals just skating.

Yes that would be right. I understand that to build the track to the required level (20cm thick) would cost the club three times what it has cost in previous years, money which the club simply doesn't have. They hope to be back next year, but unless Energy prices drop drastically........

Looks like the FIM are still not allowing Russian Riders to compete outside their home country, after the FIM General Assembly in Rimini. The Russian Ice season starts next weekend (10/11 December) does anyone know if we will be able to watch the meetings, or are the links all blocked?

I thought he was playing it safe in his first two rides, as he only needed to finish 5th to win. His fall in his third ride when leading was silly then to get caught out on the 2 minute rule in his fourth! His face said it all on the rostrum. Anyway well done to Martin Haarahiltunen, after an unbeaten performance on Sunday. FINAL 4 Result: (Heat scores in brackets) Haarahiltunen 20 (15), Simon 18 (12), Hutla 16 (12), Hornell 14 (12), Bauer 12 (11), Divis 11 (8), Iwema 10 (8), Koivula 9 (7), Weber 8 (7), Mayerbuchler 7 (7), Soderstrom 6 (5), Sætre 5 (4) Wildt 4 (4) Ahlbom 3 (2), Monn 2 (2) Schaap 1 (1), Ala-Riihimaki 0 (0) GRAND FINAL: (Re-Run) Haarahiltunen, Simon, Hutla, Hornell (fx)

According to http://www.speedway-press.ru/2022/03/marFIMrusfimsan.html the FIM are holding an extraordinary meeting to decide about Russian riders participation in FIM events. There is also an article about Polish Clubs terminating the contracts of Russian riders http://www.speedway-press.ru/2022/03/marRUSleagueout.html Doesn't look like any Russian riders will be able to ride outside their homeland at the moment.

Whilst I agree with you in principle, if the Russians withdraw/ are banned, then their points stand. But everyone else who competed in the first two rounds could also argue that they did win it on merit having competed in all four rounds. The way things are going, the FIM have already cancelled the Togliatti GP, plus some other motorcycle sport events in Ukraine (due to the situation) and Russia, so it may well be they are banned before they withdraw. However, the event is four weeks away. Things could change.
