  1. It's sad to see Matty struggling like he has this season. I've been watching dvds of last season, Matty was awesome. weather he stayed a season to long , or the death of his friend in Argentina had a bigger effect on him admitted, I don't know, but he has still the potential to be a solid scorer in the Premier League, may be a change of track would do him good next season, if he returns.

He's a weed, If Richie Worrall is mentioned he locks himself in the lavatory.

  2. Whilst I am no fan of Kus and would not have him back next year - he is by far and away not the only culprit in this Bears side, which is very lucky to have made the play-offs and in no small way thanks to Dyer - indeed we have been a virtual three man team in the shape of Miky, Aaron and Hugh - the only three I would take back, although at best we can only expect Aaron and Hugh back.

Wilkinson and Ostergaard have been very poor - Wilko not hitting 6 and Ostergaard just above a 7 - I would say they both dont get any more plaudits than Kus - and also I dont remember putting into a collection for Kus (injuries aside) to pay for equipment.

It seems an annual event almost to have a whip round for Wilkinson to pay for equipment and same with Ostergaard, if it was not for Motive - god knows what the pair of them would have been riding. I hope for the sake of Redcar Kus, Wilkinson and Ostergaard are kicked out - none are good enough and none will improve.

Totally agree, there needs to be more than Kus shown the door, despite Duffills usual big talk, I will be surprised if they win a single match in the play-offs. I'd be pretty pleased if they proved me wrong though. :-)

  3. Personally I am amazed sky stayed with league speedway for as long as they have. Let's be honest most pictures show a dirt track surrounded by a scruffy tarpaulin with a few cars tyres on top, A few hundred fans,a race than can take forever with restarts etc etc etc team managers and promoters giving interviews and coming across as insular knobs. Compared to the GPs the whole thing looks as if the local gypsies are running the show. Despite all that I still go I must be mad.

    And then there are guests!

I agree that promoters did get greedy but not all promoters are the same. Sky should of seen this and maybe done something about not going back to the greedy clubs. Not all the promoters are the same. Sky didnt always show the best matches. The thing that makes speedway work in other countries is the tv showing and how the promot speedway. We have always had sky just showing speedway and no one to touch them. Now there are compianes that can take on sky hopefully one of the tv compaines can do something when sky dont want to show speedway anymore.

"The thing that makes speedway work in other countries is the tv showing and how the promot speedway"

Do you mean like the no overtaking rule in Sweden and Denmark?.

  4. Par for course nowadays really, older generations may think that one puff on a joint or an odd bit of amphetamine is an automatic path to stealing grandma's pension and blowing it all in some crack den, addicted for life, alcahol fares way way higher in terms of the all over negativity

Ironically we see advers everywhere we turn for gambling which can lead to people's lives being sucked into oblivion and so on,crazy world really, with so many laws passed that the majority don't want, the majority think are wrong, but have no choice other than abide by them

You make it sound as if he's a first time offender.

  5. I think some people are missing the point. GB have no chance of winning, so why not blood some up and coming improving riders?

Cook and Worrall would be top of my list, Harris has the experience both as a rider and an advisor, Woffinden will keep the score respectable.

Kennett (and he's not alone) is a proven flop, and very unlikely to improve to WC level. I would have picked Barker ahead of Kennett, at least you would get 100% effort from him.

  6. Would you have picked Edward Kennett?

Personally, I don't think he is international class. The British team have no chance of winning the thing but we have some very good prospects coming along, they need experience at this level, much as the Danes have done recently. My choice would have been Worrall (surely a big future) or Barker (guaranteed effort). But who would YOU have picked?

  7. Will Craig Cook of Edinburgh set a record this season for riding for so many different teams. He must have featured in half a dozen Ipswich matches already this season.. Does anybody know who holds the record. I think Kevin Doohan has done quite a few in the last couple of years. I wonder which league has the most guest riders?

    Kevin Doohan?

  8. The material used has more clay than it used to have, It is less porous than the stuff we used to have. It is more prone to ruts which lead to problems with directional stability. Tracks these days are often smaller than those of the past and that leads to harder turning and more potential damage. This is all combined with higher revving bikes with shallower treaded tyres and riders demanding tracks that make turning as easy as possible.
