  1. Although he played his part in Hackneys '88 domination, Gary Rolls would've scored a lot more points if he had spent less time looking behind him during his races!
  2. I find Greg Hancock quite boring to watch as well, whereas I thought his twin Billy Hamill was brilliant to watch. The wrong one retired!

Riders Who Draw In The Crowds

You can't base your argument on "had gp's been around", the fact is they wasn't so no one knows what would have happened. Saying world titles were almost handed to him on a plate is ridiculous, were the other riders told "you're not allowed to beat Tony!"

Riders Who Draw In The Crowds

Remember him having great battles with Alan Grahame and Shawn Moran at Wimbledon at the world games tournament in 85. Don't know how you can say a six times world champion isn't close to being the best rider ever! Every rider had the same opportunities in the gp, Rickardsson won more races because he was the best rider.

Riders Who Draw In The Crowds

I think he said himself he wasn't much of a gater early on and he taught himself how to gate. (Maybe there's hope for Chris Harris!) The first time I saw him was at Wimbledon in 89 or 90 in an open meeting. I remember him hugging the line and doing quite well.

Have you watched the 1991 world final? He did more overtaking than the rest of the field put together! Quite simply the best speedway rider ever.

    Start Line "models"

I think that start line models are essential to the future of speedway. In fact I would go as far as to say that if it wasn't for the start line models I wouldn't even watch speedway. That's how strongly I feel about this subject.

BARRY THOMAS Never a superstar but everytime he came to the tapes you knew the next minute of your life was going to be good!

Andy Galvin used to defy gravity around Waterden road. I'll never forget the 5-1 he and Alan Mogridge (the legend) scored over Erik Gundersen in possibly the slowest race ever!

    Congratulations To Jurica Pavlic

I like it when people congratulate me on having sex. But then, I am quite good at it.

    Wild Cards 2014

Anyone who hasn't won a gp.
  12. With Tai Woffinden on the verge of becoming Englands 7th world champion I'm wondering if people feel the same elation as previous English champions because of his Australian upbringing? Although I regard Tai as being English, (probably because he is!) I can't get as excited as I was 13 years ago when the great Loramski won.
  13. True, can't argue with that!Congratulations Tai.

    Tai Woffinden

Bring it on home Tai, it's been a long 13 years!
  15. Bengt Jansson was just before my time Sidney. My first speedway recollection is a rider in yellow leathers flying from the starting gate and winning practically every time, I would say it was Dag Lovaas in 1974. I would say my favourite Hackney rider was Bo Petersen, the way he rode in 1980 was just incredible. I still miss the old place, we had one year in 1996 in the posh stadium but the new track didn't compare with what I regarded as the best racetrack in the world.
  16. Hard to believe it's 26 years ago Sidney! The 1-7 was 1 Simon Wigg 2 Andy Galvin 3 Malcolm Simmons 4 Allan Johansen 5 Randy Green (didn't work out soon replaced by the exciting Roland Danno) 6 Alan Mogridge 7 Mark Loram
  17. John Titman (I've always been a leg man myself)rode for Hackney during the last year of the Len Silver era 1983. Marks first year was 1987 with Alan Mogridge (another Hackney legend)as his reserve partner.
  18. Hope Tai doesn't bugger it up next week like Nicki has tonight!
  19. It seems we're not going to get the exciting battle for the championship with Emils injury tonight. A great shame but well done Tai, world champion.
  20. I agree with you it was a shame Mark didn't win a gp that year, although he only missed out by half a wheel in Prague, (Damn you Billy Hamill!). But he was the most consistent and exciting rider so thoroughly deserved to win.
  21. Being a Hackney fan obviously I was over the moon when Mark Loram won, having watched him from the beginning of his career
  22. Thinking about previous English winners, I remember Michael Lee being announced as world champion over the tannoy at Hackney. (The 1980 championship must've been on a Friday) and people actually booed. Incredible!
  23. I guess it must just be the accent!
