    Corona virus

Isn’t that what the NHS list says?

So you’ve been told to SHIELD and you’re not allowed to leave your property?

    Corona virus

Could you screenshot your letter and post it on here? Obviously, don’t show your name and address. I would like to see one of those as you don’t seem to qualify as “vulnerable” (although I’ve noticed the NHS has now changed this to “extremely vulnerable) and my mother in law has been very concerned that she hasn’t been told to shield (although she is) and she doesn’t qualify for deliveries.

Which part of what I said is “totally untrue”? Here’s the vulnerable list, according to the NHS it’s people who: have had an organ transplant are having chemotherapy or antibody treatment for cancer, including immunotherapy are having an intense course of radiotherapy (radical radiotherapy) for lung cancer are having targeted cancer treatments that can affect the immune system (such as protein kinase inhibitors or PARP inhibitors) have blood or bone marrow cancer (such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma) have had a bone marrow or stem cell transplant in the past 6 months, or are still taking immunosuppressant medicine have been told by a doctor they you have a severe lung condition (such as cystic fibrosis, severe asthma or severe COPD) have a condition that means they have a very high risk of getting infections (such as SCID or sickle cell) are taking medicine that makes them much more likely to get infections (such as high doses of steroids) have a serious heart condition and are pregnant

Yes, I can believe that. The vulnerable list seems to be confined to the terminally ill and those who have had life saving treatments like chemotherapy or open heart surgery in the last six months. But they should check with their doctor.

My girlfriend’s parents are 77 and 79 but haven’t received a letter. One has a heart condition and contacted the doctor to check but was told that only certain conditions make one “vulnerable” regardless of age.

Wasn’t it only the 1.5 million vulnerable people who received letters, not everyone over 70? The over 70s who are not vulnerable (and diabetics who are not “vulnerable”) are merely classed as “high risk” but are told they can do exactly the same as a fit, healthy 35 year old.

    NEW LOOK FOR STAR

You might say you’ve “invested” £30k in a van when in reality you’ve paid a £1,000 deposit and £200 a month.

Our government’s tests are based two-thirds on taking swabs and one third on taking the p*ss.

I assumed that they have lab capacity to do 108,000 tests but could post out many more, which would just create a bottleneck in the labs if they all came back together,

And aren’t man enough to have a grown up discussion about getting the tests done and done properly. Hitting 100,000 tests in an incomplete, half-assed, dodgy way, just so they could say “told you so” is pathetic.

Careful, Steve, you’ll be harangued for questioning the government!

    Tai Woffinden book at £8.99

Penhall didn’t ride many UK seasons, did he? As regards the others, let’s face it, the British League was the biggest and best in the world in the 70s so why wouldn’t they ride here!
  15. Thanks. Just looked it up. Eric Broadbelt rode too in 1978. All the race jackets had elephants though and not the castle that I remember?
  16. Was it Chris Pusey and Eric Broadbelt who rode for Halifax in the 70s and what did they have on their race jacket? I vaguely remember either a castle like the ones in Chess or an elephant for some reason, in red and blue?

The best marketing and publicity comes from personal recommendations, the word of mouth from fans. It’s obviously us who have failed the sport!

But the sad thing is, the Tories even when lying are still miles better than Labour.

    Corona virus

Nope. I bet very few of the 122,000 or 105,000 postal tests have been returned yet. And they can’t say they’ve met it until they’ve tested 100,000 people in a day. At least another week away from that. Shame they had to resort to lying. I voted for this lot.

I agree. It’s what flu does, it comes back in the winter. That’s why we need to ramp up the preparations for quarantining old people in the best possible way. Ferguson is supposed to be modelling it!

Didn’t you see all the cotton buds sticking out of him when he turned to leave the lectern!

So, are you happy for the government to say anything and do anything without being questioned? If so, you might consider living in China. Otherwise, we still have a democracy and freedom of speech and a lot of those questioning the government are making very good points, certainly ones that could be more effective in saving lives, and indeed actually helping the government to move forward.

Even if we fall for that explanation (which only a lunatic would), how about Downing Street confirming that it meant 100,000 people tested, not 100,000 tests on fewer people? Even allowing for the limp “we’ve posted it so we can count it” excuse, only 73,000 people were tested. We want a government that we can respect, one that uses genuine data to support honest arguments, proposals and conclusions, not one that twists them to manipulate the public.
  24. Agreed. They used to be in one off finals so why wouldn’t they be in a six leg series, regardless of where it’s held. Let’s face it, all of those taking part will be familiar with the Polish tracks.
