This year we booked to stay at the University again, we have stayed in numerous hotels in Cardiff in the early years and got fed up with the rip off prices, obviously at this time i don't know how we stand regarding refunds or maybe rolling the booking over to next year. Lets be honest there isn't going to be a GP in Cardiff in July unless there's some radical change in circumstances in the next 2-3 weeks.

We've stayed at the university for a fair few years now, it's basic but clean and handy for getting into the City Centre.

Hi, how do you book at the University please? Do they have their own website?

Pity it's the same day as the Glasgow V Edinburgh meeting. We were going to go but will have give it a miss now, hope it can opened on another date.

Ian will be there from about 9am. He will open early for you if you are there and give him a ring to check.  He is planning to open again later in the year but has not decided on dates yet

  6.

Ian Paterson, who has the best Speedway Museum in the Galaxy(From Cinder to Shale), has apart from the largest collection of vintage to modern bikes (Douglas, Rudge, Vincent Vampire etc) also displays a large collection of jars with samples of shale collected from many past & present venues worldwide.

Ian will be opening his fabulous collection for the day on Sunday 5th November 10-4pm for anyone who would like to visit.

  7. I know a lot of people would disagree but I would actually like to see Tero back. I think he has a lot of potential and was showing it before he was wiped out twice, damaging both bikes in one meeting a few weeks ago. He always tries his best and is not one of the current riders who seem to be working very hard in lowering their averages. He doesn't tootle around at the back, "miss the gate..." or mysteriously have engine problems like some of them.

I think we should be having a whip round for him rather than berating him

  8. Regarding Wood's exclusion... was the ref having a laugh?!?! He was off gate 4 going round turn 1 still by the fence when he got clattered from behind by Tero who was off gate 1... still can't figure out that decision!! That said, couldn't see the need for booing Tero, not his fault that the ref needs specs

The booing near me (1st turn) was directed clearly at the referee. Tero was warmly applauded when he got back on his feet. I have to say it was one of the most ridiculous refereeing decisions I've ever seen.

I am a regular Sheffield supporter and stand near the tapes. Tero was definitely booed as he walked down the home straight. It was uncalled for and I felt ashamed that he should be treated that way by Sheffield supporters when it was the referee's decision and had not been a purposeful move by Tero

  9. Best Speedway museum in the World IMO .

Yes, it is! I never get fed up of going. Love it. Notice something new every time I go. It's easier to see the bikes now he has moved them round and created another level around the outside

  10.

I think I paid £40 for a single room last season. They have bumped me up to a double before with no extra charge.

Its within walking distance of the town and the track and its better than anywhere else I have stayed overnight when I have watched the Comets.

Hi, did you book on line or by telephone? I have looked at various dates on their website and every one is coming up as "no rooms available".

  14. I was led to believe that this year will be the last that it is being open to the public. Is this true?

Ian is going to open by appointment in the future.

On one of his open days he only received a couple of visitors and it's not worth spending the time to open it.

The opening times were 10-4pm and he would get visitors that would arrive at about 3.30pm and then still be there at 5,30pm which made it a long day for him.. He feels that if he opens by appointment in the future then he will not be wasting his time and visitors can have a quality visit.

Visitors are very welcome and appointments can be made by telephone. This will enable him to manage the openings better.
