Is there still hope that bends 1 and 2 will be altered before the new season starts or has the high water table curtailed this?

    1978 EURO U-21 FINAL

Seem to remember him starting the 1983 season at Leicester like a train, outscoring the heat leaders. A poor spell later in the season saw him shipped out on loan to Reading (I think?). A very enigmatic rider.

Jerzy Szczakiel to complete the team then.....

Any alteration to the track has got to be better than doing nothing at all. I very much doubt the track curator would do the work if it wasn't meaningful. Judging by the aerial shot, those cones are a lot further in than 12" scaling it off the tractors on the track. Unless of course Glyn is using Britains tractors to do the work.

The stadium itself is a super little set up. Testament to a lot of hard work put in by a dedicated group of volunteers. Shame you can't see into the pits but i believe that layout was part of the planning conditions. However if you pay your money to watch speedway then £18 doesn't strike me as being value for money.

Sadly Sir Les' talents would be wasted on the current Leicester track. What a talented racer he was. Stood behind him and brother Neil in the queue to get in on opening night. Those heady days of 2011 seem but a distant memory now.

Peterborough V Sheffield Plpo Quarter Final 2nd Leg

Harsh but sadly true. Well unless you're DH or one of his faithful followers.

I'm sure there will be plenty of Leicester fans there, all hoping to see that elusive thing called speedway racing.......

So out of interest, can anyone give me an idea what the average crowd is at each Elite League track?

The track gives no advantage to anybody that wants to race unfortunately. Fifth season of racing and you never see heats like heat 13 at Peterborough in the afternoon meeting.

Superb meeting at Peterborough. Well prepared track with dirt on. Passing inside and out. No dust. A track riders look confident on. Reminded me of what speedway is all about. Then in a moment of weakness I decided to carry on to Leicester. Which apart from Janowski's magical performance completely took the shine off the day. Reminded me of what non speedway fans think speedway is all about sadly.

Peterborough V Ipswich Plc Easter Monday 7.30pm

If you couldn't watch a meeting like that every week then you can't have visited Leicester regularly....;-) Track did look a little deep in places but was refreshing to see some decent racing and passing. Well done Panthers and an excellent performance by Danny King. At least not all the tracks along the A47 produce boring speedway

Sometimes if both tractors are out together, one passes the other. This often provides more entertainment than the meeting itself.... Here's hoping that one day they let Glyn alter the shape. Surely it's worth a go....

We decided to give it another go last night after hardly missing a meeting in the first three seasons. The quality of speedway on offer just reinforced the reasons why we don't go anymore. Most races are over by the entrance to the 3rd bend on the 1st lap. In the past the addition of more dirt has caused the riders even more problems negotiating the bends. Ultimately the shape is wrong and as it's unlikely to be changed now I guess that's pretty much our last visit. Super set up otherwise, being held back by the spectacle that track produces. Nice touch to have the minute's applause for Nigel Boocock.

First visit to BP since last May. First and foremost congratulations to the Bees on a very professional performance. Also good to see them acknowledge their fans at the end. Not the best night for the Lions but Josh Auty looked tidy and competitive. Couple of passing moves by Bees riders early on and some robust first turns but all in all mostly gate and go processional stuff. At least the boundary fence looks smart now. Well done to the volunteers that did the hard work.
