Re TWITTER. I have been given this advice regarding closure/removal of the bogus account 'credited' to me. Just what I need at my age! https://help.twitter.com/en/safety-and-security/report-twitter-impersonation

    'NINTH MAN' FRED PHILPOTT

Does anyone remember 1953-54 era 'Speedway Star' contributor Fred Philpott who used the pen name 'Ninth Man'? I also think he contributed to 'Speedway News' and 'Speedway World'. Away from speedway he worked full-time for the 'Croydon Advertiser.'

    'NINTH MAN' FRED PHILPOTT

I wonder what happened after early 1954 to Frederick H. Philpott from Southdown Road, Wimbledon. When did he last have a column in Speedway Star?

    STEVE BOLE, EASTBOURNE, 1954

Thank you andout. The information I would like is in regard to Steve Bole's training school background prior to his reasonably successful 1954 season with Eastbourne.

    Quick Update...

THE MISSING DATA HAS BEEN FOUND! Read on:- I was busy over the years 1952-2012 being involved writing for Speedway Gazette, Speedway World, Speedway Mail, Speedway Graphic, Speedway News, Speedway Star, Monthly Speedway World, Monthly Speedway Star, Vintage Speedway Magazine, Classic Speedway, Australian Speedway World, Revs (Australia), Speedway Reporter, Monthly Speedway Reporter, The Voice, South London Advertiser and two speedway magazines - one in Sweden and one in Poland - whose titles escape me. I was also the corespondent between 1958 and 1963 for the old Sunday newspaper 'Sunday Citizen' while in my many years full-time at the bi-weekly 'South London Press' between 1973 and 2012 when there was speedway at Wimbledon I covered the club in the Tuesday and Friday editions. Add to this that I edited three editions of the annual "Speedway Digest' in the early 1960s.

    RON JOHNSON

Australian rider Ron Johnson rode in the first meeting at New Cross in 1934. Uniquely he also rode in the second-half of the track's last ever meeting in 1963.

    Quick Update...

What does the future hold for speedway? The way the sport is losing impact year on year sadly I can envisage no long-term racing under the present form in the UK. Eventually I think team racing will cease and meetings will be rather akin to another format as used in the USA.
