Anyone going to Riga beware !! The GP and the SGP 2 are both 12pm starts-which is 10am UK time !!! SGP 2 is on Friday 6th September and GP Saturday 7th September.

That's gonna be a good and long evening out...

Seems stupid, but probably with good reasons behind it. Like having the meeting in broad daylight to maximize the difficulties with watering...

I do remember this time last year they put out the skating hire shop and I think catering for tender to try and extract more money for that..

I was sceptical this year's meeting would run because one or two ice rinks looked to be in trouble due to the energy problem caused by the war in Ukraine, which was the reason I found the news on the tenders.

The one thing that does fall a bit flat, is talking about the number of fans it attracts to a City like Berlin. 8,000 over a weekend is a drop in the ocean really. The ice hockey gets more I think for one game. Concerts and theatre etc ..without mentioning football

One other stadium is having trouble in Berlin. Home for ice hockey and speed skating etc

Pay more, get the deal with the city.

    whats the other solution?

For a start it won’t be the SWC as that is not run every year- next year will be the SON competition. It’s too early for any information but should be known before the end of 2023.

In Finland in my city we had this ice hockey player Raipe, who was good, really good. He had the ability to give passes to and from situations no one else good, always spot on…

What you just wrote was just like a Raipe pass for me to comment on what the FIM would decide for 2024… But I’wont… No point… They do what they do, and then we’ll see in November.

All credit to the FIME for producing a format where riders meet all of the others in their 13 Rider group. But the downside of the format means that Seth Norman will not get his first race until race 12, (The two groups feature in alternate races) and two of his group will have already had 3 of their 4 qualifying races.

Been around for atleast 20+ years…

But you get all the perks of cheap alcohol and clothes etc. Load up the van...there ain't many perks in going to Finland :D

You have bugger all idea how it works…

But as it happens, I’m currently on the Travemunde ferry to Helsinki with a 6000km driven Polestar2 stacked to the roof with beer on third the price it has in Finland…

But yeah, we expensive and all. But also we different. We only drove about 500km in Germany but it was all boring and flat.

Roads from Helsinki to Varkaus are excellent, and generally quiet, but there are speed cameras everywhere, and Finns know to their cost that the speed limits must be adhered to. If the limit is 100km/h and you are caught doing 101km/h, you will be charged. Fines are related to income, so the richer you are, the more you are hammered.

But does all that apply to foreigners as well?

Also, 1 over the limit does not get you fine, whats ever your score, there is a deduction of 3 km/h from that…

SGP4 bike is now for sale: https://minispeedway.pl/en/home

The bike will also be on display at the Warsaw GP fanzone this weekend.

For 5k you get "The motorcycle will be produced especially for your order. Completion and assembly of the motorcycle will take up to 3 months."

I'm all positive for this , but I thought one of the main points of this project was that you would be able to go to the store and walk out with one?

But, and this in very small font size, one of the big talking points for the 20 years I've been involved in the sport seems like to be still just that, talk. No amount of (Discovery) money seems to change that.

It used to be a minium length of 450m and up to 1000m long. But to get Poland involved the FIM dropped the minimum length a few years ago, and it is now open for any kind of track, sand, shale or grass and regardless how long or short, which is just ridiculous. They have reduced the number of riders in the world long track championship to only five in a race, which was neccessary because of the smaller tracks such as the Polish venues.

Me thinks it’s a fine line between getting a Polish track involved and getting a track anywhere involved in LT.

Also the main reason in going to 5 rider races was to make them race each other in the prelis like in speedway. Guess they only started with the format a week before the season to realise it would not happen…
