    New Godden Engine

If its a "Godden" engine.... who is Drake? Is Don Godden no longer with us or retired from his engine business?
  2. I was there when NKI set the track record, it was a grippy track but the racing that night was not that good. The following night, the final, I remember it being a cracking meeting. I'm glad Doyly acknowledged what Dan had done - it was a great effort and I bet Dan is well chuffed with it.
  3. Thats a Wow for the Dan Bewley race. He seemed to be going at a pace...was Dan far off the track record?? and a Wow for the Steve Worrall race Did Jason Doyle shake hands with Bewley??

    No TV deal?

Who would be so foolish to throw away the opportunity of getting free advertising. Sure, it would be better if clubs received some money, but dont throw away free advertising....one day it may just work, but if you dont do it then you have no chance.

    Bt Sport Coverage

Some good news from BT Sport. They struck a deal with Dorna for Moto GP TV rights until end 2021, thats a 3 year extension to the contract that would have ended at end of 2018. Also for Moto GP fans that dont know yet, Valentino Rossi has agreed a 2 year extension to his Yamaha contract so he will be riding until end of 2020 at least - that will make him 41, which is pretty good going for a Moto GP rider at the top end if the field. I think the BT-Moto GP deal till end of 2021 is good for Speedway GP. It keeps BT well and truly into top line motor cycle racing and therefore its my opinion makes them want a Speedway GP deal stronger. editted the date Rossi will be in Yamaha contract from 2010 to 2020

    electric speedway bike . WHEN?

Battery and recharging technology is changing all the time, lots of money being spent on research and development. I read they can charge a mobile phone in 30 seconds, they just need to commercialise that engineering - which they will do. Same with electric cars, new cars like Nissan Leaf (new model( can do over 230 miles, give a couple years and it will be 500-800 miles and then its is very viable.

I am sure it was the case at Belle Vue in the sixties (at least) that after the meeting the riders went to the office which was under and at the back of the grandstand and received there earnings. Its easy to calculate what someone has earned during a meeting, especially now with computers. Cash may not be the wisest now but money transfers are no problem.

    No TV deal?

Be interested how you go on Bruno. I am on the BT 52mb package as well. What I would like to do is cancel my 2nd TV package as I only have a 2nd TV to watch speedway during the GP months ie May-Oct - so basicallywant it for 6 months then like to cancel it for 6 months. Anyone know for a fact if this can be done??
  10. Sad to hear about Henryk. It was always exciting, as a teenage speedway supporter, to hear of Poles coming to the UK to ride for a team, plus the touring of a Polish team and Russian team. Great days.

    Poole 2018

If the contract with BT states teams must wear a certain type of track suit and a specific team wont abide by the contract, then if I was BT I would be pulling out. Of course, I dont know what the contract says...... but I cannot see how one team can do whatever they want if the contract says different. No wonder British speedway is in the state it is if one team can simply do its own thing.

    Bt Sport Coverage

My latest BT bill dated 5th Feb was £49, that includes a 2nd TV box, and broadband at 52mbs. I think there was a price rise for part of that so next month may be a little more.

    ANLAS TYRES FOR SGP

I would have thought anyone developing a new tyre would have thought of all those things and addressed them in the design stage. Or maybe they were so stupid as to just create a tyre with no thought, just go ahead spending money with no thought and sponsoring the GP series and the Czech GP.

    Bt Sport Coverage

BT has a 3 year contract for the GP's so 2018 was a surety for GP's. Not sure but I think 2018 is the last of the 3 years, someone will confirm this or otherwise I am sure.

Thats bad planning, wouldnt recomend you put in as a team manager. You should have bought the essential loaf first, at least you could have kept eating, albeit not toast. I'll get my coat.

    OAP concessions, why?

The above was Halifaxtiger quoting SCB. SCB, it does say "average", that means the figure evens everyone out. Someone on the National Minimum Rate of £7.50ph will earn £15,600pa. Even the new pension, only recently started to be paid, is approx £8,400pa and that depends on NI contributions. Pensioners before that get much less- and thats what my state pension is....much less. I contributed to a private pension for 23 years which helps me out, many pensioners today do not have private pensions. They will really be struggling. I think you need to learn what pensioners are actually on rather then rely on some "average" figure. If pensioners didnt get "senior citizen" rates I would imagine some businesses would struggle - speedway would probably have folded years ago.

    OAP concessions, why?

I wish I was on that £20k a year pension - fact is I am far below it. If that £20k is some sort of average, it could include those directors who were earning £300k+ and receive pensions of £80k-£100k. Nice if you can get it.

    Belle Vue 2018

Re Tungate..... I was impressed he was the only unbeaten rider at the 2017 Aussie GP He rode well there.
  23. With the number of Australian riders in the Melbourne GP just gone, they may as well have said that was the Australian Championship. And if most riders equipment are in Europe, Orlov, what were they riding in that Aussie GP?

    Norwich Stars Remembered

Sadly Peter Craven was not there, he and Ove Fundin had fantastic tussles at Hyde Road and I am sure similar action at Firs Road - a track I would love to have seen as it was a similar size to the Hyde Road track, similar shape? Don’t know - perhaps someone who saw action at both tracks could enlighten.

    Craig Cook Support Group

But you clearly said “hope he gets as mush stick as CH did” you knew CH got a lot of stick, so you are hoping CC gets the same treatment. If you didn’t mean that you should word you posts more clear. I for one didn’t know the history behind your comment.
