  1. Strange thing to say when you consider how we're struggling to get through the play-offs this season (and last season too)
  2. Poole Speedway. Outraged by everything, ashamed of nothing

    Wolverhampton 2015

Sounds as if the relationship between Tai and the management is far from sweet and roses then. Interesting that they're suggesting the rider grading system could be back. I always felt it was a good idea that was discarded too quickly in 2004/2005.

    Belle Vue National Stadium

Well done to Belle Vue for getting to this point. Its been a lengthy process (too long probably for the club and other parties), but at least now thing appear to be moving forward. The advantage they've got is that Belle Vue is probably the most iconic club operating today. To be able to stage the sport in a top class venue as opposed to the ramshackle tip they run at now, will only be a good thing. Out of interest, do we have any idea for the timescale on the construction? I would imagine 2015 will see Belle Vue running at Kirkmanshulme Lane with the new stadium in place for 2016?

    Flying Shale/roo Games

Pretty good game, although graphics are a bit basic. Ive done a couple of golden greats championships using the GP format on here with all of the riders who have been world champions. I didn't know you could create your own formats though. Might have a go at setting up the current GP scoring system, as most recent one is 2005.

    Wolves V Eastbourne 08/09.

We've had some great battles with Eastbourne over the years (on and off the track). Hopefully it won't be the last time they visit the Green tonight. Won't be there tonight as flying out to Brazil tomorrow! Hopefully though we can finish a disappointing campaign on a high though.

    Alex Harkess - Resign

Sadly, the attitude of the BSPA towards people who criticize the way speedway is run seems to be "If you don't like it, then don't come".

    Alex Harkess - Resign

I remember (not long after he took the job) that he rubbished the notion of an independent body running British Speedway as "speedway works here very well". The fact that as the chairman of the BSPA, he was in office during the farcical winter in 2010/2011 would have seen him out of a job in most other sports. Lets not forget also that he promotes a club which had to go cap in hand and plead poverty to their own supporters - these two sagas hardly make him the most credible of chairman. Sadly, with the way the sport is current (mis)managed here, moving him on and replacing him with another current promoter will be like shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic. I think there are a lot of forward-thinking promoters within British Speedway (Rob Godfrey at Scunthorpe has always impressed me), but with too many older promoters set in their ways and determined to keep things as they are just because it "suits them", then I don't see speedway moving forward - I hope I'm proved wrong, but I don't see it.
  9. Finally a preview on the club website. No comment from management though, nor explanation.
  10. I hadn't seen the "line-up" when I posted earlier. What an absolutely disgraceful team we are sending tomorrow. Surely the club have to release a statement to clarify the situation (are we riding their due to pressure from Swindon wanting to get the fixture in before the cut-off, did we agree to the date before it became obvious half of the riders wouldn't be anywhere near Swindon?). To just say nothing has been their mantra at times in the past, but this time they can't hide under the desk.
  11. Its got to the point now where the management can't be bothered about us tracking a team with none of the original seven riders declared at the start of the season. Clearly they just want to get all the fixtures done as soon as possible and be done with this sorry and disasterous season. What a depressing time for Midland speedway. Us sinking like a stone, Brum gone, Coventry likely to go in next few years and Cradley still no nearer to their own track.
  12. I said Monday night was a new low, but if its true that we are missing so many riders on Thursday, then this is plunging even further into ridicule

    Wolves V Leicester 1/09

I agree entirely. Sadly its the riders now who have all the power.
  14. No surprise to hear Tatum saying it should be off. He was the first one to be packing his gear away into the van if he didn't fancy it.
  15. Have to say watching the match on sky + that middleditch was right want it off, but given his disgraceful conduct at Belle Vue last year, I find it hard to have any sympathy for him.
  16. Just seen a few clips from this meeting....they weren't joking about the crowd. Its almost at the stage where your introducing the crowd to the riders, rather than the other way round.

    Over Seas Riders

Problem is that, despite the promoters grumbling about riders not turning up, but these same riders get picked by other gullible clubs the next season.

    Wolves V Leicester 1/09

The "new low" for me was the poor crowd and the non-existant atmosphere - bearing in mind it was a local derby. I've stood inside Monmore when the atmosphere has been raucous - even when we were racing against poor opposition. Last night I saw people standing about in silence (some not even watching the racing) and a general feeling from some that they'd rather be somewhere else. For the record, when I said Pawlicki offered nothing to Wolves, I was talking more about his lack of commitment to actually turning up. You could be the most exciting rider on the planet, but if I arrive at the track not knowing if he's going to be around, then I just can't warm to him. Whatever people think of him as a rider, you cant deny his commitment - especially in recent weeks - has been unnaccptable.
  19. Haven't seen any "action" from this meeting, but by all accounts its yet another example of British Speedway grabbing a great big gun and proceeding to blast its own foot off. And better still, let's do it on live TV.

    Wolves V Leicester 1/09

If there was 500 people there last night I'd be amazed. Apathy and a total lack of atmosphere. I saw a group of fans near the tapes and one was on his phone texting furiously during heats, one staring at the floor and the others reading their programme - not one of them watching the action. In 25 years of going to Wolves, last night for me was a new low. Sure we've had 2 wooden spoons in that time, but at least we had some entertainment in those seasons - its been dire this year.

    Darcy Ward

Middleditch shows a bit of backbone at least

    Wolverhampton 2015

Hopefully this little saga can be forgotten now, as Pawlicki not being around on Monday almost certainly resulted in a drop in the crowd - I know people on Monday who didn't realise until they were inside that he was missing, and that wouldn't have bothered if they'd known. Although I guess as we were unbeaten from his rides then it was irelevant towards the match itself, its not acceptable when the home team can't track a full strength team. Most of you will guess that I'm not a Piotr Pawlicki fan, I never have been and nothing about his time at Wolves has changed my mind. However, I will retract the remark I made on Monday about "utterly detesting" him. I do detest the fact that a rider who signed for us has missed several meetings and weakened a side that has struggled for various reasons anyway, but obviously I don't detest him personally, as I don't even know the guy, so I'm happy to withdraw that.

    Darcy Ward

Ward (just like his British club) seems to revel in this victim role. Its always someone elses fault and everyones out to get them. He needs to accept he's in the wrong here and seek the help he needs, and people like Middleditch need to stop handling him with kid gloves.
  24. R87

    Darcy Ward

Can only agree with what's already been said. Darcy is a fantastic talent on a speedway bike (probably the best I've seen at such a young age), but he needs to get himself sorted out before he loses it all. Poole have backed him to the hilt when lots of other clubs wouldn't have, but they won't keep backing him if he keeps popping up in the headlines for the wrong reason, and Matt Ford has already gone on record as saying he has to get his life sorted out An 8 to 10 month ban for me would give him time to maybe take stock of his life and decide what he actually wants. Yes it might seem tough from his point of view, but it seems he has to learn the hard way. As for turning up at work with a hang-over, well I've never done that and I suspect if I did, then I would be sent home immediately.
  25. What a surprise. Pawlicki treats Wolves with contempt once again. I utterly detest the guy and the sooner he's away from Wolves the better
