  1. Just a reminder for anyone interested that press and practice is on the 24th March, where all 6 Kings and Myself as team boss will be present for photographs and to chat to the fans. New promoter Steve Ribbons will also be there to answer questions about the longer term plans for speedway in the Garden of England.

With Eastbourne naming a super strength line up for the season opener hopefully a bumper crowd will come along to cheer both sides.

I note that the date for the 4TT is 1st September on Facebook and 4th August on the Kent Kings website. I am surprised how few fixtures they are planning although they may only be the first set and more will be added to fill the gaps.

I dont know if still the case, but i believe Crayford are running 7 meetings there. Iwade is allowed 14 "public" days a year. I believe in 2024 the Kings and Crayford are having an even split.

    i see it different

im a big road racing fan

dont like seeing people hurt but i like to see for myself what actually happened

too many bits get added or left out when you hear it 2nd hand

its not always wanting to see gory details just a clear understanding

    Absolutely spot on!!

Told the new promotion ditched the club's long-serving programme editor and press officer. Is that true? Why?

Very much a case of Kents loss, is very much Mildenhalls massive gain. It baffles will still as to where Derek found the time to annually produce the most press releases from any speedway club in the country. (And most years by a massive margin.) Plus the weekly programme, and announcing duties whilst holding down a full time job. Not sure he knows what sleep is tbh.

Isn't Brafield back under another name and the venue owned by Spedeworth Motorsport who also promote oval car racing there?

    NIR, Northampton International raceway.

Was named after a energy drink company for a couple of seasons a number of years ago now.

It does also get referred to as Northampton Shaleway these days.

If its 350m it certainly doesn't look it! I dont know what being inside it would make the length of a Speedway track, but as someone who believes small tracks arent great, and having been to Aldershot, I'll stand by my original comment!

Having raced there, putting a speedway track inside would be impossible I totally agree.

News on website reads that a new company has been formed who has acquired the assets of the previous promoting company. This more than likely means the old company will be wound up and unless there are adequate funds left over, unsecured creditors (which riders are) will not receive the money owed to them.
That said, the BSPA could arrange for the riders to be paid out of the security fund lodged with them by the previous promotion - assuming there is anything left over.

This is where i dont understand business laws at all. If you are acquiring all of the company assets, surely you should be taking on all the company liabilities as well.

I was told that Sittingbourne FC used to play at Central Park, but because the pitch was always unavailable due to greyhounds, they switched to the training pitch at the side, which was done up and named "Bourne Park".   (I assumed from the conversation that they still played there, but seemingly not).  Anyway the story I was given was that ARC want football back.   (I expressed surprise thinking that a full-size football pitch wouldn't fit inside the greyhounds, which was when I got the backstory about them playing there in the past before moving next door.

Sittingbourne have had multiple grounds since central park including ground shares. They now play out of if town at the Woodstock complex. Ironically I will be watching them as they visit My Ashford United tomorrow.. :)

  9. Whilst central park seems gone for now, it does seem like there is a distinct possibility of retaining a National League side running out of Iwade. Hopefully if the venture comes off it gets the support to make the club viable and potentially keep the door open to a central park return in the higher leagues in the future.

    Buxton Tiger,

Only if Kent can do 2 meetings in 2 hours. Their planning restrictions allow only 2 hours racing per week 6.30 - 8.30pm

The other part of the planning is that only 16 races can be staged in a 2 hour window.

As they say in F1, it's easier and cheaper to make a fast car reliable, than a reliable car fast.

Let's hope thats a similar scenario with Foord before he hurts himself or runs out of money, calming down but keeping the speed.

To clarify Vinnie wasn't even close to crashing all night. He was leading heat 8 when his engine went pop heading into turn 3, and the 2 lads who were closely battling ploughed into the back of him.  Him and Dan Gilkes looked silky smooth all night, which is why he won rider of the night on his home debut.

  12. Looking at the table, if Mildenhall don't pick up 4 points at Armadale , then any of the Berwick, Kent, Mildenhall trio can still win the league.

If Mildenhall get 3 league points in Scotland, and Kent win their last 4 by a decent margin, then all 3 teams end on 22 points, and points difference will be the decider.

Ndl racing recommences for Kent after a long gap. However almost half the side are missing!! Joke sport comes to mind. But this league is to bring on the juniors I suppose. And as long as entry is sensibly priced you get your fix.

Yeah Kent going without a heat leader is pretty frustrating,  there isn't exactly bucket loads of dates with NL fixtures on them, seeing as most of the field are NL riders it should surely of been relatively easy to find a better date that didn't clash.

Hopefully Jacob and Josh continue there improved speed and performance. And Alex is in the points, then we may have a chance. All we want from vinnie is 4 safe races, points don't matter just get the experience under your belt and enjoy it.

Having watched the two young brothers (thier names escape me) practicing at Redcar a couple of weeks back, they look a class pair with bright futures and could well be match winners tonight.

Guess when the kids have finished school , I can look at moving to a property on the old Arlington site - perhaps a house in Dugard Close or Norris Road or Kennett Avenue.

With over a 1000 in there tonight for a entry level type Banger meeting, I don't think you need worry about that. I suggest the stadium is completely safe, and I am equally positive that speedway will be at Arlington in 2022 under new management.
