    Why win the league ?

No doubting the team that top the league after completing the season should be crowned champions as they have earned the right. As a point of interest what actually do they recieve from doing so. Is there a cash incentive for winning the title or does it bring in any more sponsorship or any more supporters the following season, I think not as evidence from crowds dwindling & riders calling it a day as no money is coming back into the sport. It's good to see training schools bringing on new riders & clearly they are making it pay through training fees, but what happens when these riders break through only to find they will have no competitive speedway to take part in. Sorry to say speedway is on a downward spiral and unless a complete 're think for the way ahead & an independent control board put in place can this sport get there.

    Plymouth 2018

I was at the meeting as I was spannering for Ben Morley & I think you'll find it was Alfie Bowtell who fell in Heat 15 as Ben was not even in the line up and as for Heat 1 Ben was riding as you say through the dirt and was leading comfortably until he picked up some grip upon hitting a hole going into bend 3 on lap 4 & by the time he gained some control he spun his back end around. He sustained a badly twisted knee resulting in him pushing ( limping ) over the finish line. Ben spoke to the clerk of the course & the referee to see if some track work could be done before racing commenced only to find that the hole would be filled, which was pointless as it appeared again the very next race. This was a quick fix so that racing could continue. There was further falls from other riders during the meeting & even Plymouth captain Henry Atkins spoke to Ben after Heat 5 when they met each other to say that he felt the track was rough after both himself & Ben had lifted coming out of bend 2 after avoiding the fallen Callum Walker. After chatting with Ben during the meeting we were only to happy to get through the meeting unscathed. I can appreciate that the sun & heat we are experiencing at the moment negates getting moisture into the track but the track that night was not great and a rider of Ben's experience does not come off his bike that often. Dave Longman ( Ben Morleys mechanic )
  3. Will be interesting to see where the riders 55 vans will be parked also where they will be able to house 110 bikes in the pits. Another thing will the riders that don't make the final also be made to stay in the stadium like all the fans will have to after until the meeting has finished.

    Rye House 2018

No thanks. All 3 of them will struggle more then Max to get around Rye. With 3.81 points to play with should the promotion go back to looking at getting Ben Morley back if his average fits. He's riding the best I've seen him at the moment scoring well for both Lakeside & IOW. He has improved on his averages in both the Championship & National leagues with a 5.16 ave in the CL & a 10.40 ave in the NL. Also as a No 7 will score more around Rye than any of the 3 mentioned above.

    Isle Of Wight 2018

OK with Jamie Sealey confirmed how about these 2 to finish the side. George Hunter (5.43) & Layne Cupitt (4.00)

    Isle Of Wight 2018

With 12.44 points left would Luke Priest, Chris Widman & Tyler Govier fit the final 3 places.

    Rye House 2018

Whilst listening to the podcast & Steve Jensen interview, it came across that Warren Scott & BMR's success in their touring car operation was to get the best possible people around them by getting formula one engineers & mechanics as well as the best drivers in Colin Turkington, Jason Plato & Ash Sutton. Obviously Warren & Steve know that for the Rockets to be the best they have to get the best. So don't be surprised that the World Champion could be the man to lead them this coming season whatever the cost. The BMR promotion have done a great job in the 3 years they have been in charge & everyone is looking forward for the season to start.

Kings V Budgies Play Off Semi Leg1

They could use Tom Bacon he is on 8.54 So the Eagles could line up as 1. Bailey 2. R/R for Powell 3. Brennan 4. Wood 5. Bacon (G) 6. Edwards or Kemp (G) 7. Bates if your source is correct Connor has pulled off another trick within the rules. Fair play to him for trying to achieve the best for his team & their supporters

Kings V Budgies Play Off Semi Leg1

Wiliamson's average is too high to replace Knight
  10. It's very good to see that Stefan Nielsen is back racing but I see that he is coming in on a 5.53 average and that has taken Scunthorpe's re-declared 1-7 over the 40 point mark. I take it that as the B.S.P.A have allowed this is all o.k for team to re-declare over the 40 point limit.

    Lakeside 2017

I can appreciate what a lot of posters are saying about Dave Mason not being possibly a heat leader standard nowadays & that he is not the greatest of travellers. But I cannot see many of the posters coming up with other possible names that's left at the average that was available. Also looking further as the season progresses I can see that Dave Mason will be a good back up 2nd string when either George Hunter or Alfie Bowtell up their average & become the 3rd heat leader.

    Lakeside 2017

As mentioned earlier with the likes of Jack Smith & Rob Shuttleworth already signed for Glasgow & Workington respectively in the CL, this would have involved a lot of travelling for both as well as probably running R/R when missing. Nathan Stoneman would have been a good choice & might of been asked but declined , we will never know also I'm sure if Shane Hazeldean was fully fit for the start of the season he would have been an option but these are the circumstances & Dave Mason is the promotions choice with the average that was available. One thing for sure is that many visiting riders including their heat leaders will be taking their first laps around Lakeside & won't find it to easy to negotiate one thing Dave Mason won't need to worry about.
  13. How can Rob Branford guest for a PL no7 when he wasn't eligible at the start of the season. How can Rob Branford guest for a PL no7 when he wasn't eligible at the start of the season.
  14. It would be great if the original Kent King, Ben Morley was asked to be guest as he loved riding for the club & the fans that backed him. Also it would be fitting to have the reining N.L.riders champion pairing up with his N.L. Pairs partner Danny Ayres again to gain Kent their first team trophy that has eluded them in the past. Go on Chris or Len get on the phone to Ben & book him for Monday.
  15. Would just like to say what a great job the BMR Promotion & team management are doing with getting the feel good factor back at Rye. The team spirit in the pits is excellent with all the lads rallying around & helping each other. Peter Schroeck's team talk at the interval must of been inspirational by the way the lad's responded. The grin on Peter Karger's face from ear to ear after his Ht 11 win was great to see. Obviously from a personal reason it was great to see Ben Morley top score but it was a terrific all round team performance gaining victory from the jaws of defeat. Also it's good to see a lot of the old faces & supporters who were lost under the previous promotion returning to come and say they are happy to be back and are enjoying watching the speedway at Rye. Best wishes to Leigh & Peter on their speedy recoveries and seeing everyone again on Bank Holiday Monday.

    Raiders 2016

Although the promotion / management have stated that they would like to pick their 6 & 7 from the Sunday training school. I would like to see Luke Harris & Jamie Couzens given a go if no one suitable can be found.

    Raiders 2016

Luke & Ben are both Rye House assets,so Kent will have to get permission from the Rye promotion if they are to sign either of them. Depending on what average Luke would come in on it would be a no brainer for the Raiders not to use them at 1 & 5 to spearhead the team.
  18. dave1075

    Raiders 2016

It would be interesting on what average Luke would come in on. If between 8 & 9 what about this line up. 1. Ben Morley 9.63 2. Danyon Hume 3.47 3. Marc Owen 7.25 4. Alfie Bowtell 3.95 5. Luke Bowen 9.00 6. George Hunter 3.47 7. Ben Basford 3.00 Total 39.77

    Rye House V Eastbourne

States on the Edinburgh website that Rob Branford will be sitting out this weekend. So don't be surprised that Rye will be looking at using Ben Morley as a guest.
  20. I take it that Kent No1 Ben Morley will be missing for the Kings on Monday as he will be riding for Redcar at Rye House starting at 2pm. With so many meetings that day choice of guest maybe limited so i hope the promotion can get Bradley Wilson Dean to guest for Ben before some other club snap him up It's a shame that the promtions couldn't get together as Ben could have ridden both fixtures if either the Kings or the Rockets had changed their start time as i'm sure fan's would have liked to have gone to both meetings.
  21. Yeah just checked also Alex 2000, Ben has not ridden 4 N.L. matches as Buxton last week was postponed & the KO cup matches v Coventry don't count so with that in mind may have to look at either Tom Perry, Dan Halsey, Liam Carr, Marc Owen or Luke Chessell to fill in at No 1.
  22. I think anyone can guest for Ben unless they are already a P.L reserve as he is No 1 in the N.L averages with a 10.77 average. Bradleys average is around 10.00 after Sundays meeting at Mildenhall.

    Eastbourne 2015

I wish they would bring back those days when speedway was on terrestial TV. I think you'll find Dickie Davies was on World of Sport for ITV with Dave Lanning being the commentator for Speedway & Longtrack/Grasstrack, whilst Frank Bough fronted Grandstand on the BBC with Murray Walker commentating on the motorsport. Those were the good old days of only 3 TV channels you also had the midweek sports programme called Sportsnight on BBC that showed the London Riders Championship from Wimbledon. There was also a speedway programme every Monday night that used to be on Anglia TV ( can't remember the name), showing teams like Kings Lynn, Ipswich, Peterborough,Mildenhall, Milton Keynes & Rye House also they had the 4TT finals from Peterborough. Great Days. It all went wrong when Terry & Ronnie Russell got involved with Sky Sports that it went ** up.
  24. Ben Morley has taken a confirmed booking for Plymouth tonight against Peterborough. Lakeside were waiting on news from Steve Boxall & had provisionally spoken to Ben but by the time a decision was made Ben had taken the Plymouth booking. As for Marc Owen, he will do a good job for Lakeside as he is more than capable of making the step up & should not be faised by the track as he has done plenty of laps of the Arena raceway. Also it's good to see Lakeside given one of their own assets a chance to shine.
