    Peterborough Panthers 2020

Really not a BSPL issue. The season ticket holder is a customer of Peterborough speedway. Panthers management are responsible for their customers and should be talking to them in terms of their own business

    Kent Kings 2020?

That's why pubs cant have music and I believe are banned from showing sport on TV

    Corona virus

If lower league football starts -- speedway will too. Not sure of league names once you drop down pyramid but crowds of sub 2,000 are common outside the top 4 divisions.

    Kent Kings 2020?

In many ways, you are jumping the gun. Clearance to run speedway needs government and ACu/SCB/BSPL permissions. You have to hang on until all those hurdles are cleared.

I was looking for such a tribute when I picked up the Star. To be honest, I expected something good and was not disappointed. Well done SS and Peter.
  6. Any thoughts as to how speedway might combat piracy, in the light of today's comments? I would value any ideas as to how to block illegal streams. If they are valid and workable, let's tell speedway clubs how to do it. Personally, I have no idea but I am all in favour of crowd-sharing great ideas for the benefit of all.
  7. Good one...streaming to 100,000 people. If he did speedway, with 100,000 viewers, no-one would pay
  8. Key question is stopping people hijacking stream and viewing for free. The big TV companies spend a fortune to shut down illegal streams. It would not take many people watching without paying to completely ruin any hope of breaking even, letting alone making a profit.
  9. Looks like Leicester have conceded they cannot run practice sessions. Stewart Dickson has said on Twitter "Saddened to see Leicester being put in lockdown for another 2 weeks but health always comes first. Guaranteed we will overcome this and will hear the noise of the bikes soon."
  10. Premier League football seems to have special 'rights and privileges for whatever reason. Can't see a few lads with motorbikes wanting a skid will be granted any privileges. This is also throws up the issue of if the BSPL re-starts league racing. What happens if a club is in a town or city which gets locked down? I see the government will be giving itself powers to legally enforce this new lockdown and any other. And further update: PA media reports the health secretary also confirmed that a football match between Leicester City and Crystal Palace would go ahead this weekend...from the Guardian
  11. As I suggested, Leicester now in lockdown. Shops and schools closed again and no non-essential travel to and from city. Restrictions tougher than those suggested on TV earlier

One of the Allied Presentations crew?
  13. Leicester (or parts of) heading for lockdown, according to today's news. Most positive tests in the north of the city (where speedway track is) and east. And before anyone puts 2+2 together and makes 5...I am not suggesting the speedway practice days are in any way connected with the rise. A lockdown, however, would likely affect riders practising at the Leicester track.
  14. They may well have to take a cut. After all, they did in Poland
  15. All sensible speedway clubs will be thinking about how they can get sufficient supporters inside a stadium with social distancing at 1m+. Every stadium has "pinch points" -- the turnstile block at many stadiums is an obvious example. They will need to think about getting people out of the stadium at the end of the meeting and what they will do if it rains and meeting is called off. Lots to consider but well run outfits will have this planning in hand.
  16. Nothing in today's announcement to suggest sports stadia can re-open. For speedway, there was no news. Speedway still hopes for mid-August start (as above) but the big question is: Will fans feel safe and be willing to go out and support their club. I watched local BBC TV news tonight and it was 50/50 of the people interviewed who were willing to go to pub/restaurants. 50 per cent of a club's fanbase attending would be a disaster for most clubs.

    NEW LOOK FOR STAR

Thanks Speedway Star for the Polish reports and news. Just what we needed. Any chance of anyone telling me how pronounce the name’s of the clubs. I have guessed but would like to know if I’m anywhere near.

    Polish Speedway on TV

Reports this morning that Sweden and Poland are the only European countries NOT to have passed their Covid-19 peak.

    Behind closed doors?

Eastbourne put together a cost/benefit analysis and said they felt the paying audience would not be sufficient to run meetings.

    Eastbourne 2020

Eastbourne Speedway directors are watching and waiting when it comes to deciding what to do about the 2020 season, according to a statement issued this morning on the club website. It says, at this stage, nothing is ruled out and nothing is ruled in. A good update on where we are and it all makes sense. So many decisions are out of the hands of speedway clubs. We have to wait and see what the government decides about larger gatherings and what rules would be in place. Similarly, the ACU, SCB and BSPA will have a view. Also good to be reminded that the Eagles are finding out how their fans feel via a survey. It's no good opening your doors to speedway and find only 100 people turn up. Tricky times for everyone in speedway and Eastbourne have some cool heads running the show -- and it shows by their actions.

    Eastbourne 2020

Usually matches are close and they even show home defeats. Scunthorpe was this saturday’s pick to coincide with The Danny Ayres Day. Chosen as mark of respect to a rider who provided superb entertainment everywhere including Arlington. Eastbourne made the link in their social media. Helped also to publicise the Day.

    Kent Kings 2020?

you are not subscribed to the right channels. Get on SpeedwayGB every day, on the web for eg. Get on Twitter #speedway, get on Facebook -- all this stuff is out there. This site is NOT the place for news...comment is its strong point. On social media, follow the right people
