Tense and exciting speedway with some fantastic racing. This was a brilliant afternoon in front of a big crowd. Loved the Eagles' celebrations when they won races and at the end of the meeting. Feared at one time I wasn't going to get to wave my 5-1 poster. Max Clegg is coming on a bundle. Led Cradley very well. Good to have the "noisy boys" in from the West Midlands - helped give the place some atmosphere. Til the next time ... -
And the rider on an average of up to 6.36 who is prepared to race for Lynn in the EL is? Tricky one, easy to say clubs need to recruit but (sadly) many of them just don't want to know. Michelsen took some persuading to go to Eastbourne and now it looks as if his interest in UK speedway is rock bottom. Porsing is frustrating. Last year he was a diamond...this year nothing like as valuable. But he still may be the best available.

I think the Speedway Star should switch it around and put the NL and PL and EL at the front of magazine on a rota basis. Seen more passing at Arlington this year than in a whole season in the EL. Last week at King's Lynn there was more passing in the NL match in one race than there was all night the previous Wednesday. As for Lakeside ....poor beyond belief at times. I am finding the EL very sterile and predictable where the NL serves up entertainment every time. Can't wait for Cradley with their bus load of fans to come to Arlington on Sunday.

You think Martin Dugard is "soft" on his son? Kelsey is in on merit and nothing else. -

Yes, I agree. That's why I say if he was Kelsey Smith he would hailed as a rising star of British speedway - which he is. People just expect more because he is a Dugard. I wonder if Martin had similar pressures following Bob or if this is just a "modern thing". -

Kelsey is doing really well. He falls off because he is trying to win races and through inexperience. He has learned a huge amount in the first couple of months of this season and is already far better than many reserves in the NL. Keep your chin up Kelsey, you're doing better than I expected and I'm sure I speak for many. If his name was Kelsey SMITH, people would be raving at what a find he was. Keep racing! -

If it's a public meeting - which it would seem to be (ie: not a members' club meeting) - anyone asking for information to be "kept within these walls" is doing a dis-service to the fans who attend speedway but can't get to this meeting. It's typical of speedway promotions wanting to keep things secret. They want to stop proper discussion . Sounds like the technique for growing mushrooms, in my opinion. -

Will be a good result for Eagles if they manage that scoreline. They need to win and collect 3 points to try and halt the Cradley juggernaut which is building up speed. See Glenn has shuffled things around and tucked Dave Mason into heat 14 where a cool ahead might be needed if these predictions of a big home win fail to come true. -
Is it compulsory for Leicester and Coventry to have a former Eagle in their team this year?

National League speedway is full of passing, full-on effort, thrills, spills, drama-frankly it is everything the EL isn't. I was bored to tears watching Elite League speedway and a recent dose wasn't that much better. The National League maybe slightly slower but who cares.I want to see racing and that's what I get in the NL. And you have to admit Eastbourne are offering value for money with a full 2nd half - 27 speedway races for a tenner (plus the £2 compulsory contribution to HM Government by way of VAT) can't be bad. Bring on Cradley. If there's any justice the place will be packed.

Hope the track is better than Kings Lynn thought it was for their meeting. Stars programme last night had comments from Dave Allit avout a blue groove which was watered. Very uncomplimentary remarks.

Stars V Wolves - Wed 13 May

First half of the meeting was dire, apart from Lambert's dive past Wells. Picked up a lot the more the meeting went on. Perhaps all the very late track prep is to blame for the lack of passing early on. Wolves should kick themselves for not getting anything against a five man team -

I can only tell you about the racing which I see with my own eyes. Track prep not my forte but something's amiss that needs addressing. Get the track prepped to give the racers a chance to come from the back. FTG gets very tedious. We all moaned about that when the Stars were hitting 60 every week in the Premier League. Maybe the track is being prepped for use by cars, EL bikes and NL riders and satisfying no-one. -

But if you don't have a track where people can pass ...you will get rubbish speedway. Not been a lot of evidence so far at the Adrian Flux Arena of there being a track conducive to passing, or doesn't the Elite League "do" passing any more, anywhere? -

Hope it is not going to be gate and go tonight. Looking forward to some racing that might restore what little faith I have in the Elite League these days. -
Nearly got me too Steve. Had me spluttering over my cornflakes. Of course, it should be on Sky; likely to be far better than some of the dull EL stuff
-
Top post Pitstop, especially the bit about more races so far than we in total in the last 3 years. I cannot understand why some of those who cold shouldered the NL don't give it a go. No better opportunity that when Cradley come to town. Racing is better, atmosphere is better, riders interact with the crowd. The team is winning and has already won on the road.

Eastbourne 'it First' Eagles V 'restart' Rye House Raiders (nt)

I thought it was a dead heat -
From where I stand Kelsey doesn't know the lines into turn 3 in particular, especially when following. He could do with a practice session with some cones on the track to give him some ideas of what is and what is not possible. Having sad that, he is doing very well and has scored lots of points.

Brendan brought a lot of the comments on himself. He piled into social media after Eastbourne let him go. Brendan - and his friends who kept repeating what he said - opened up the discussion. I think it is time for him to call it a day. -

He was nowhere near on the pace today. Even passed from the back by an Eastbourne reserve. -

Brendan Johnson's huff and puff shown up for what it was worth today. We all know BWD was not a "like-for-like" replacement but in case anyone wonder, Wilson-Dean is a class apart. The real comparison is with Richie Andrews - the lower average rider Eastbourne brought in to replace Brendan. Richie does his talking on the track and he is a real revelation. Well done Eagles. Heat 13 was a classic
