Eastbourne have said they were interested in having an NDL outfit for the 2021 and running a 'second team'. That would be quite a boost to the sport as a whole and for up-and-coming riders in the South East. Not sure if they would want to join the league but some open meetings at that level could be attractive and help bring riders on. I suppose it would depend on how big the league was. Quite a few riders around, I would imagine, who might enjoy riding for the Eagles, especially when they could see a progression route. There is something worthwhile about 'growing your own'. By the way, the news of a possible NDL team was given in the club's online magazine Flying High 3, before anyone accuses me of day dreaming.

True. Would have been different this year with Robert at No 1

Lambert may not get a place in next year's SpeedwayGP. Back to the Stars for 2022?
-
One rather small league

I think Eastbourne said £25,000--to have spare bags
-
I think most of them are in the same group- and in a nutshell that is speedway's problem. An audience that is literally withering away. Too few of us 'skivers' allegedly working from home.
-
Interesting how this thread has bounced a long at quite a lick this morning. Is it older folk who have time to themselves of younger people 'working' from home?
-
End of 2018 when the club won league and cup, the attendances were surprisingly low for such a powerful and entertaining team.
-
Did you see the attendances in the last season of NDL?

More time to walk in Abbots Wood and the reservoir

What went wrong? People didn't go in sufficient numbers. The audience for speedway on a regular basis in East Sussex has withered away to a few hundred.

Under Covid restrictions, I read they could have 1,000 people in the stadium. That probably meant 900 fans with the other 100 or maybe a bit less being riders, mechanics staff etc. Poole was a sell-out (ie around 900). That was the top crowd. They dropped away thereafter and fell noticeably for Scunthorpe. Leicester didn't look very good and Plymouth was really no better than the NDL crowds of the past. The drops were most noticeable drop came after the end of all restrictions..

What matters is where the Eastbourne riders go, if the club closes...deadline day Friday.

The statement is there, slightly amended from the above.

They will tomorrow. That’s when they said there would be a statement. Not long to wait.

And it looks as if they have mucked up. feeling like east Anglian speedway death wish -
May well have been the northern clubs who swiftly moved fixtures, rather than Eagles pulling out

Ref would never over-rule if the riders said they didn't want to ride. -

Batch sacked for Holder? Something ironic about that and tonight’s match. -
I can confirm that he is in on holiday. In the meantime, reading Cider with Rosie!

I was walking in Abbots Wood.

Torrential rain in Arlington area this morning. Eastbourne’s Forecaster spot on - again Can they do the BBC?
-
Best wishes to the new King's Lynn team manager, Alex. I'm sure he knows the importance of any success for the Stars at Foxhall and will not need any telling how it will boost morale. Good luck also to the Lewi Kerr and Richard Lawson - ride well, win and stay safe. We need you at Arlington on Saturday. And, of course, good luck to every single member of the Stars team. Go lads.

oh, they have some one lined up
