Haven't Somerset closed down completely, so hardly looking ahead to 2022.

If any team made the right call it could turn out to be Swindon - providing, of course, that they do run in 2022 as they say they will.

Swindon decided not to run to get their new stadium built.

No sympathy I am afraid - it was a daft idea to launch the season without being able to have maximum capacity and they wont be the first to stop. Its an absolute farce.

Should of forgot about 2021 and planned ahead for 2022 - looks like Somerset made the right call.

The call Somerset made was to close totally, finish speedway. there will be no more Speedway at OTA.

  3. I don't know what the difference was but local councils do change their minds; especially with talk of a 3rd wave they wanted things tightened up.

I sense from where I am in Sussex that council inspectors are going round a lot more checking -- places such as cafes tightening up on app use or name/address

Speaking of which, Riss has a long way to go before he earns the moniker "Electric"!

I actually agree with this comment Col ! :D

The attendance didnt appear too good? I am wondering why there was no pay on the night, like last week? I think this decision affected numbers?

No pay on the night is often one of the restrictions put in place by the local authority in giving permission for the venue to open (Covid-related).

Restrictions depend on where the venue is and what their local council says. The Govt has given this power to your local council.

Yes think so, mid 80’s. If I remember correctly think we won once at Swindon with Einar Kyllingstad getting a 15pt maximum.

Ah yes, Kyllingstad who didn't always get that your turned left at the first corner.

I must drag out a book and look up that season

So much depends on gating at Arlington, even more so on  hot sunday afternoon.

That having been said  difficult to see many points coming from Kents lower order and reserves at Arlington. Loss of Gilkes to another  under "something or other" meeting a bonus for Eastbourne.  Broc Nicol to top score.

Drew Kemp managed to get back from the same under "something or other" meeting.

If he could, surely Gilkes could have done.

As I mentioned earlier Richard Drew is named as riding on the Eastbourne website but along with Dan Gilkes they are both named as non starters on the Kent website and Jack Thomas will guest for Dan - somewhat confused am I - can anyone help? -

Eastbourne are the home club so they should know.
Ask Kent website where they got their info.

On paper looks like an Eagles 4 match points tally.

With all of them in form and Brennan looking like a 4th Heat Leader it will be a monumental task for the Scorpions particularly if Kennett has solved his mechanical problems.

Delighted to see  they  are replacing Kemp with Nathan Ablitt.  Another very promising lad who no doubt  will be over the moon riding in the CL and probably again on Sunday..

Drew named for Sunday against Kent.

Just out of interest. Do the averages change differently in the Prem?? With Bridger riding at reserve for the 1st couple of meetings and then RR being used for him at 2 last night?? I know the NL it changes after 4 meetings. Is the prem done monthly or something like that??

    Monthly, I'm pretty sure.

Surprised Seagulls did so well without Atkins, he was the guy every team would have wanted and Seagulls would have wiped up 2 toughest Away matches with him in side and probably the League.

Looks like a very competitive League though now, anyone could win it, literally anyone.

Surprised Gilkes didn't join Eastbourne for previous Promoters, he rode there every week for Reading in MSDL.

The Seagulls rode as a team today. They looked to be well drilled in what the job was.

As far as Atkins is concerned, Eastbourne's Director said on Saturday that Henry has already committed for Seagulls next season if possible and that it was mentioned they would love him to ride for Eagles one day. He's a real talent so I hope that comes true.

Have to agree about Gilkes. It was a surprise he wasn't snaffled up by the Eagles after his Arlington performances for Reading in the NDL in 2018. Really a case of the one that got away.

Apologies Richard, it was Trevor Geer, Ian Jordan and Will Pottinger who predicted that Eagle would win the Champiopnship.

    https://www.eastbourne-speedway.com/happy-new-year-as-eastbournes-three-wise-eagles-predict/

I know I had read it somewhere.

They were predictions for the 2020 season.

This is 2021 - I know things go mighty slow in sleepy Kent, but....

Didn’t expect Poole to get a point at Arlington against the team Trevor Geer tips to win everything this season.

Good on Poole for doing the right thing in heat 15 and giving the home fans something to remember so they come back to EB next week...... good for business.

Ed Kennett goes down as one in my book who promised so much as a young lad ... I tipped him as a future champion, but somehow he lost his way.

Trevor Geer has gone no further than saying the Eagles will make the top 4 - a far cry from winning everything. He wrote that himself.
