  1. Can do the self same thing with averages using minimums etc, and there is already a 2.5% reduction in place, no need to use letters and make things over complicated. Lets bin the endless rule changing and tinkering.
  2. As it should be anyway. Don't believe in playoffs.
  3. Could easily just borrow some from the floors of the pubs local to Ashfield.
  4. The way its going in the future British speedway teams will include such as Wimbledon Dons and Cardiff Wasps (probably migrated from Newport) .....stadiums with a roof
  5. Used to be just pre-print and use an "insert" sheet for the last minute arranged fixture. Not ideal although I would think a programme is the least of concern compared to just getting the match arranged and done.
  6. I'd rather just get rid of all the daft rules and endless changes and tinkering.
  7. Sorry but rounding averages up or down doesn't make sense. Somebody that's 5 foot 9 inches tall is 5'9'' they aren't 6 foot. Don't see how rounding averages up and down is some cure for all ills. If somebody has a good year (nowt to do wi tyres btw) then rounding their average down isn't going to make a lot of difference unless its rounded down so much that it becomes artificially low. Most of us are fed up with all the tinkering and constant rule changes ad nauseam. As somebody else said, limit team building average to 42 and leave it alone for a few years. Keep it simple.
  8. Sorry but personally I've never been a fan of "categories" and "grades". The average self categorises anyway to 2 decimal places. Simple. If there has to be greater control than just an overall team build points limit, is it maybe not easier to limit the combined averages of the top 3 as i think used to be the case a while ago, was it maybe 25 or suchlike, although to be honest I've lost track of the various rules.
  9. I agree. Why "categorise" when you have a self categorising system called averages that's exact to 2 decimal places. A fair points limit as you say and build to that limit.
  10. No worries. I do also agree with your underlying point, I guess more than one way to skin a cat.
  11. Nor did I say its every team. But you clearly did make a point about 4 heat leaders in Championship teams. I only pointed out that the second placed team Glasgow did not have 4 heat leaders, that until Ostergaard got injured they only had 2 heat leaders and after that only 1, the rest being second strings and reserves. If you are going to make a point about teams having 4 heat leaders as you did then you would maybe have a point if it was widespread, i.e. not "all" but commonplace throughout the division, and that teams with only 1 or 2 heat leaders e.g. Glasgow were rooted to the bottom of the table but clearly this is not the case. Your mention of 2 point riders is maybe more where the attention needs to be focused as if teams are only allowed say one 2 point rider then it would discourage teams from assembling 4 heat leaders and the rest all 2 pointers. I know somebody will say something about an existing rule and that's fine as I gave up trying to follow the ever changing rule book a while ago.
  12. You say Championship teams had 4 heat leaders. Glasgow had only 2 heat leaders until Ostergaard got injured, and after that only 1 heat leader. The rest have effectively been second strings and reserves. And Glasgow finished the season in 2nd spot in the Championship table. So not as if with only one or two heat leaders they finished in the bottom half of the table. Sorry but your point that Championship teams have 4 heat leaders this season doesn't seem to hold water.
  13. IMO should only be the Wednesday night tie as its the ko cup final, the other one as far as I'm concerned is a non-event as Poole won the league and are league champions, Glasgow runners-up, as I don't believe in the playoffs system. If they insist on still having playoffs next season then they should reduce the number, as others have said its nonsense that whoever finishes mid-table in 6th can potentially still be champions. They want to make their minds up is it a league tournament or a knockout cup tournament. The other thing of course being to schedule the season so that thy make use of the summer months fully and not have a summer break in league fixtures, and finish everything earlier so we don't have the most important matches crammed into the coldest and wettest couple of weeks at the tail end. Although that's maybe too sensible for our glorious sport.
  14. Since 2011. Orange network was still around then, although I guess you never mixed those up. Ok where's me coat, taxi ordered.
  15. My post wasn't flawed, in fact it was factually correct, as well as being tongue in cheek. Unlike meself, I have lots of flaws.
  16. Why not just use a laptop and hook it up to your tv. Bingo.
  17. Wait a minute, you're saying you're a simpleton? If you read my post I did say that two other clubs have to do it and I only mentioned them once each. Unlike your original post which didn't mention either of those two clubs having to do any travelling. Anyway I'll dig my tongue out of my cheek from my first post, and second post, and...
  18. A fair summary. Let the best team win? As far as I'm concerned, the best team already won - the league that is. I don't believe in the playoff system, the league shows that Poole won the league and are league champions, Glasgow runners-up.
  19. Not actually my point which was that in reference to your original post, for the League playoff final two leg tie only Poole have to travel up and down but somehow Glasgow don't need to travel up and down, and similarly for the ko cup final only Poole have to travel up and down but somehow Edinburgh don't need to travel up and down. Interesting.
  20. So lot's of driving up and down for Poole but not for Glasgow in the league playoff final, and probably also lot's of driving up and down for Poole in the ko cup final but not for Edinburgh. Interesting.
  21. Me too Jaizer. Which part of Mike Hunter's post match report did you have issue with?
  22. Not pointless at all. It's got you talking.. In the interests of the sport, maybe it is time to ban postage stamp tracks. Maybe not. An open question. As someone else mentioned, engines these days are such that they suit big racetracks and that, paraphrasing, the deficiencies of certain tracks don't enable current day speedway racing (was the gist of what they said anyway).
  23. Then fine it would appear that speculation, open discussion, etc, and for that matter discussion forums aren't for you.
  24. Who is "your"?? That it was a gamble taken by the Glasgow promotion is a given, I was merely posing a couple of 'what ifs' e.g. Ostergaard, and also Sedgmen although largely cancelled out given their respective scoring at either track over the two legs.
