    62 Speedway Autographs

Hi everyone Thanks for the replies - I think it also adds to my thoughts on the value of the book in monetary terms. It's priceless because the autographs can't be obtained again - but worth very little as all it is is a few signatures in a book. I think it's worth around 40 - 60 pounds. I don't want to sell it by my gran does - so I'm going to try to buy it from her at 50 pounds rather than let it go out of the family and it can go to her son who likes autographs and the stories his gran tells him. I've got to say however that someone is buying it if she wants to sell it at between 40 - 60 pounds if that is considered a fair assessment of the price. Cheers again - thanks for the interesting stories.

    62 Speedway Autographs

My gran (now aged 89) attended speedway regularly in the 1960s and 1970s and has a book of 62 autographs of riders of the time, including: Peter Vanderberg (Wolves) Eric Bobcock (Halifax) Bert Harkins (Wembley) Pete Bailey (Ipswich) Gote Nordin (Sweden) (died April 1987) Ron Mountford (Coventry) Oyhuind S Burg (Norway) Dave Younghusband (Halifax) Col Cottrell (Bees) Alan Tay (Halifax) Bob Andrews (Hackney) Nigel Bodcock Roger Hill Cliff Evans Jack Biggs (Hackney) Mark (Glasgow) Gordon Gausco (Poole) Bill McMillan (Glasgow) IvanMauger (Bellevue) Jan Simensen (Coventry / Sweden) Ray Wilson (Leicester Lions) Howard Cole (King's Lynn) Terry Betts (King's Lynn) Eric Broadbelt (Bellevue) Les Owen (Bees) Arnold Haley (Sheffield) Jim Pibey (Sheffield) Clive Featherby (King's Lynn) Tony Lomas (Bees) Antoni Woryna (Poland) Rick France (Bees) Pawel Waloszek (Poland) Grahan Plant Ken Ayres (Bellevue) JohnBoulger (Lions) Ken Paul Kinsley ? Westham/Cov/Oxford Anders? Dave Jessup (Wembley) Alan Cowland (Lions) Brian Leonard (Wempley) Ronnie Moore Geoff Bowledge? Christer Lopavist (West Ham / Sweden) Anatoli Kuzmin (Russia) Jim McMillan (Glasgow) Bob Rigby Bruce Ford Vladimir Paznikov (Russia) Grigory Chlynousky Colin Pratt Ole Olsen Bill Wirebrand (Poole) Peter Smith (Poole) Mike Cake (Poole) My gran has put the names by most of the signatures but some are not named. I am researching the names to find out what has happened to these riders and if anyone has any details on these, I would appreciate that being shared with me so I can tell my gran where they are now (if they are still with us). My gran, Joyce, was a keen speedway fan and regularly visited the pits to get these autographs. With thanks.
  3. Hi. I'm new to the forum. I thought I would share an exciting discovery. My gran, aged 89, has given me an authograph book of speedway riders from 1960s to 1970s when she went to the speedway regularly and ventured into the pits to get the rider's autographs. The book of 62 autographs includes names such as: Gote Nordin; Oyuino. S Burg.; Peter Vandenberg ; Col Cottrell; Bob Andrews; Roger Hill; Jack Biggs; GordonGuasco; Ivan Mauger ; Ray Wilson; Terry Betts; Les Owen; Jim Pirey; Tony Lomas; Rick France; Graham Plant; John Boulger; Anders?; Alan Cowland; Ronnie Moore; Christer Lofavist; Jim McMillan;Eric Bodcock; Pete Bailey; RonMountford; Dave Younghusband; Alan Tay; Danny Mullins?; Nigel Bodcock; Cliff Evans; Bill McMillan; Jan Simensen; Howard Cole; Eric Broadbelt; Arnold Haley; Clive Featherby; Pawel Waloszek; Antoni Woryna; Ken Ayres; Ken Kinford?; Dave Jessup; Brian Leonard; Geoff Bouelef?; Anatoly Kuzmin; Bob Rigby; Bruce Ford; Vladimir Paznikov; Grogory Chlynovsky; Colin Pratt; Ole Olsen; Bill Wirebrand; Pete Smith; Mike Cake. Altogether there are 62 signatures, some of which my gran has named (the majority of them) and a minority unnamed. I wonder if this brings back any memories from other forum members. I am going to go through those I can distinguish and write down where they are now (if they are still with us), such as: Peter Vandenberg (born 2.9.35) - Wolves 1966-1970 - died April 1987. If anyone has any information on the other speedway riders, that would be appreciated so I can let my gran know what happened to the people she used to cheer on from the stands and join in the pit out of the love of the sport. Many thanks.
