    Poole v Edinburgh Weds 27/09/23

Didn't something similar happen to Chris Louis some years back when he hit the "tape stabiliser" on entering the second lap and he picked up an injury?

    New Cradley Heath track?

That's good news and hopefully something positive may come out of it?

    Svein Harald Kaasa.

A tragic loss. Saw him ride for the "Rebels" in my very first meeting against Coventry at Cowley. Forever remembered.

    Speedway Drive-ins

The closest I ever got to cars being parked within the confines of a stadium was the back straight at Dudley Wood. Recall talking to Hans Nielsen's wife, Suzanne, who was watching the racing from his van.

    Guess Where?

Apparently Billy Connolly used to joke (before he was struck down with his illlness) that he only needed one book on his shelf because after reading it he would forget what he had just read and would read it again!
  13. Another teaser and although some riders had the leather manufacturer's logo emblazoned on their leathers not sure if they were necessarily sponsored by same? I'm sure that Ivan Mauger must have been one of the first? I recall some of his early leathers displaying "valvoline" and he did display "TT Leathers" who sponsored him and "Jawa" as did Briggo. Both Garry Middleton and Eric Boocock wore Lewis Leathers who sponsored them and they also carried the logo on their leathers. Of couse much later there was Ray Wilson with his famous "Bostik" leathers but by the middle seventies many riders carried sponsored brands on their leathers.

Phil Morris CEO of British Speedway.

He has no credibility regarding his involvement within speedway historically but I guess that this will be just passed over in the great scheme of things.

Trouble is that it was always going to be a tough exercise arguing/discussing the merits of a sport that is going thru' troubled times.

I'm also a fan of Phil...comes across as a very articulate and intelligent person. I remember he was a bit wild on a bike when he first rode as a sixteen year old but lasted the course. A credit to the sport!

I saw him at Norden when he won the World Championship in 1983!

    Guess Who?

Has to be Egon Muller with those handlebars?

Phil Morris CEO of British Speedway.

...and the fact that he and his fellow Directors at Bristol never got the appropriate planning permission which sums him up really.

Good to see Tony Gillias there giving evidence.
