    Dutch & Belgian 2011 News

Any one got the full results and heat details on this event? Wasn't able to make it in the end, but from what I hear there was some good racing
  6. Sorry, you've misunderstood my posting, and it's totally my fault, as I didn't make myself clear. When I said an entirely new match over the full number of heats, I meant, of course, a new final over the 16 heat format, with all 4 teams agreeing that they could track there best 4 available riders on the night. Sorry if I wasn't clear.......don't liike causing confusion
  7. Hi Howard, I'm sure I'm right in sayimng that all 4 teams have agreed that they will track their best 4 available riders in the re-staging, so the cut off date now doesn't count, as my understanding this will be an entirely new match, run over the full number of heats.
  8. You'll be lucky Naj.............They haven't got one here !!! :-)

    Dutch & Belgian 2011 News

Sorry to hear that news Jesper. Obviously rules out a ride at the Golden Helmet meeting at Zolder, but may be we'll see you there in a spectating capacity instead. Hope things heal up quickly for you, and your not off the bike for too long. See you in September.....maybe?
  10. Traditionally it has always been a mixed field with all three leagues represented, and has normally provided some great erntertainment.

Extremely good point, and something that the more gifted individuals amongst us struggle with on occasions. How many times do we see world class footballers take on the role of team managers at a much lower level than they played at, and then fail because their players skill levels are such that they cannot put into practice the things they are being asked to do, by a person who could do them with his eyes shut.

Jesper, I know that Nico and the rest of the guys at Zolder want to raise the profile of speedway in Belgium, and to do that you have to engourage better riders to take part in the meetings. Also for the future good of speedway in Beligium & the Netherlands you can't stand still. If the same level of rider competes in the meetings all the time, speedway will stagnate and no one will improve, and that can't be good for the future. Unless riders are given the chance to pit themselve against a higher standard of rider, how can they gauge how much they need to improve to reach the next level. Also just being around and talking to such competitors cam often throw up something that will help a less experienced rider to move on from where they are. But it's a balancing act, it's no good introducing riders to your competitions that are unbeatable, as this may discourage people from entering and improving, but on the other hand you have to progress. As for Max being too good, from what I can see he, as I didn't attend this time, he was no more dominant than Peter Juul Larsen was at the Golden Helmet that I attended in September, and lets face it, it was the Belgium 'Open' Championship. As I said, I couldn't make it this time, but hopefully will see you all in June and again in September. See you then

    Emil Kramer Meeting

With this meeting just under a week away the full field and rider order are complete, and it looks like a good field for the inaugural running of the event. Hopefully there will be a great turn out to honour the man who was affectionally known as'Mr Somerset' and 'The King', and to help provide for his daughter, Nelly , The following is taken from the Rebels official website: RIDING ORDER FOR EMIL KRAMER MEMORIAL MEETING The draw for the riding order for Fridays Emil Kramer Memorial Meeting was made in the clubhouse following the Rebels win over Ipswich. The riding order will be 1) Ty Proctor, 2) Cameron Woodward, 3) Emiliano Sanchez, 4) Sam Masters, 5) Ricky Wells, 6) Christian Hefenbrock, 7) Dakota North, 8) Davey Watt, 9) Shane Parker, 10) Kevin Doolan, 11) Cory Gathercole, 12) Joonas Klymakorpi, 13) Justin Sedgmen, 14) Travis McGowan, 15) Bjarne Pedersen, 16) Darcy Ward (subject to fitness) Fans are asked to note that with the need complete 22 heats prior to our 10pm curfew time the rider parade will take place at 7.20pm with tapes up on heat 1 at 7.30pm. Additionally, admission prices for this meeting will be increased by £1 across all categories on the standard admission price, with each additional £1 collected going direct to Nellys Trust Fund, and that season tickets are not valid for this meeting.
  14. Think the answer to that is, in the main, yes. They are certainly resopnsible for meeting presentaion, including the rostrum ceremonies etc, but I would imagine that there is a small amount of overseeing by those responsible for organising the Super 7even series Not sure that you are correct there BR. It's my understanding that in Super 7evens events, the orgaising promotion (Peterborough in this case) is given a staging allowance, and the purchase of trophies comes from that source, so in effect, yes, Peterborough were responsible for the supply of the trophies, or lack of them in this case.
  15. And to top it all off Peterborough Speedway/BSPA were too penny pinching to have a full podium presentation. This is the first 'Fours' meeting I have been to, where only the winners were presented to the crowd, and given trophies and medals, so Edinburgh and Somerset supporters in attendance were denied the chance to congratulate their teams for making the rostrum. All the rider momento's were handed to the team managers at the managers meeting prior to racing, to give to their riders, and not formally presented. It's not as though there isn't an allowance for expenses like this for the staging club, because there is..................pretty poor show for a major event if you ask me Edit: you beat me to it Kevan

    Weymouth Speedway

Forgive me for asking, and probably appearing a little niaive, as I don't know any of the personalities involved in the above posts. What I find starnge is, considering the tone of the above posts, that Kevlars and Tibbles profiles list each other in their respective 'Friends' box. Not only that, but they are the only friends listed on their profiles.........maybe someone could shed some light?
  17. The World U21 Team Cup DOES NOT clash with the PL Pairs, it clashes with the GP the following day.................that's the nonsense in the situation, having 2 FIM sanctioned events scheduled on the same day. The PL Pairs is really a side issue, as some riders may want to travel on Friday. The thing is, as I understand it, practice for the World U21 Team cup is on Saturday afternoon, and is not even compulsary, so riders who are eligible for both this and the PL pairs could actually ride in both, if they have organised reasonable travel plans. Sam Masters and Josh Grajczonek both flew back from the previous round that was run on a Saturday, and arrived at Glasgow the follwing day in time to ride. So it is possible with a little planning. So Shadders, your night out in Cardiff may have to be put on hold after all

Owner Of Vestervik Speaks His Mind!

I would think that there are quite a few UK promoters that would kill to get 1700+ supporters through the gate
  19. For those speculating who the last two riders might be, there are an interesting couple of lines in the club's latest press release, which announces the addition of Sam Simota to the line up. The extract is reproduced below: Simota, who has ridden for both Reading and Peterborough during his time in the UK, brings the total number of confirmed riders to 14, leaving just two spaces left to be filled in order to complete the 16 rider field. The Somerset management are hopeful that those two vacancies will be filled within the next few days as they await calls back from riders they have invited to compete in the club's celebration meeting.
  20. Absolutely correct, I don't think it's a coincidence that no Poole riders have been announced for any of the early season individual meetings

    Australian Season

Think you got the wrong end of the stick there, Dirt........Rebelknight is talking about Sam Masters, not Darcy. Sam has signed to ride in the UK, for the Somerset Rebels, for the 2010 season.
  22. Just posted today on the Somerset Rebels Forum that new Somerset asset Sam Masters has won the New South Wales U21 Championship. Unfortunately there are no other details yet, so haven't got any heat details etc to post Extract from Rebels forum.......... Congratulations to Somerset’s new asset, Sam Masters who has this morning won the New South Wales, Australian U21 Championship. Other riders competing in the championship included , Hugh Skidmore, Dakota North, Todd Kurtz, and Taylor Poole. Sam’s mechanic for the event was no other than Jason Doyle. Final : 1st Sam Masters 2nd Alex Davis 3rd Taylor Poole 4th Dakota North.
  23. I know it means going a bit further round ther M25 car park, but you could always try the M3/A303 option, and then cut across Glastonbury & the Somerset levels to the OTA, it's sometimes a better bet, and it's the route we use when we come up to Hoddesdon
  24. According to the Super7even website, and info I have been given, that is Heat 15 in the Premier Trophy matches only. It's bad enough that it is confined to Heat 15, but that makes a stupid qualifying system even worse. Surely qualifyng for a best pairs competition should be on rider averages for the whole match, not just one heat of it, and also from Premier LEAGUE matches. You could have pairs/riders that have ridden superbly over an extended period of time, and finish high up in the averages, only to lose out on qualification by dint of a couple of ropey Heat 15's in what amount to for a lot of clubs, early season shakedowns. I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound right to me
