  1. A lot of people in this sport didn't consider Somerset 'underdogs' and as results have proved they were a top team from seasons start. What ever way you want to view the Premier league certain teams enjoy the doubling up/down facility and it needs addressing at the AGM if we are to see youngsters progress from the NL. Having token 3 pointer in the team isn't the answer as they only score against each other in most cases.

    Your Team For 2017

IF the EL were to increase teams and meetings then I can see the PL going to 2 reserves from the NL and a lower points limit. More PL riders would want to move up.

    Eastbourne 2016

Been my gripe since Cottham first got injured seems Eastbourne are happy use this for the sole benefit of using George Wood in Ht 14!
  4. What !, the best (sic) promoter in the universe didn't have trophies for 3 Brits and nice ones at that - says it all I'm afraid...

    Rye House 2017

If you build it they will come - lots of rumours around ......
  6. Pound has been overvalued and was heading for a slide whether we were in or out. The Bank of England have been trying to inflate the economy since the crash in 08 so all this is working for UK Plc but not in the employees (us). The US elections next month will be another predicted shake up.
  7. Indeed but the Crown Estates is where the real wealth is generated. Indeed but the Crown Estates is where the real wealth is generated.
  8. It's our history and quaint way of life that tourists seem to lap up the Royals have their place of course but the wealth they hold in land and possessions is way out of balance to a democratic nation in the 21st century. The tax revenue avoided by this institution could clear the current national debt easily.
  9. Well it's one of the reasons the UK has been poor at developing young riders as they are the first to be booted out when a team suddenly finds it can strengthen up as the averages now allow it. And yes the Wayne Rooney example fits the bill - best rider reduces average etc etc.
  10. I think it's more about fostering a team for supporters to identify with and producing hero's than the current system of sack and hire when a rider's form dips. Really hope the rules change that deny strengthening mid season (unless through injury) and we get away from what went on at some clubs this season.

    Poole 2017

And here you have why Poole will soon be in a league of one!
  12. Never made it ! His scoring at home has been the reason Rye have got where they have this season. Yes he does struggle away but the PL is far too strong and guys at his level need encouragement. Ashley Morris is in the same position and struggles a lot but they are making a breakthrough but slower than some expect.
  13. These meetings were always going to be advantage Newcastle as their current combined averages are 10 points a meeting better than Rye. Not the first time Kennett has gone missing when Rye needed a performance from him - Premier 4's an example - 1 point!
  14. Well done Newcastle and good luck in the final. Rye did well to get this far as it is clear there is a massive gap between the top 6/7 teams And the rest in the PL. Maybe they could form the EL second division next season?
  15. I think the blue corner wins hands down - apart from Jason Doyle the rest are not worth their expense. As for Brexit the political situation in this country is far more worrying as we appear to have a one party state.
  16. Yes it's time to 'seize the day' as our PM eloquently put it. I recall when the old First division of football couldn't afford to keep the few top players we produced and most went abroad for much bigger rewards - it's turned around alarmingly now but to the detriment of football in general imo.
  17. The £ value is temporary and could be back up next week when the money boys have profited considerably. Brexit is permanent - allegerly and could Impact visas for clubs in future.

    Most Wanted List

The EL will need to weaken to attract more riders to move up full time. I doubt Lord Ford will allow that to happen unless they knock him out and put him in the broom cupboard when the voting takes place.

    Poole 2017

It's no coincidence that the fall of the pound and Brexit will bring about a much changed UK speedway landscape. Euro hopping riders will be a thing of the past with a BSPA driven home rider development at last being sought.
  20. When Brexit takes effect riders from the EU will be a thing of the past!
  21. It's why the whole shabang needs a jolly good shake up - imagine Worky V Belle Vue for starters (at a PL standard) I bet that would pull in a few fans - the EL need to realise it's not all about them!
  22. Your promotion knew this but still signed the riders and this highlights the need for the PL to reduce team strengths and get back to 7 riders committed to a team for a whole season.
  23. Every year promoters pick from an ever decreasing pool of riders of an ability to compete at PL level. If clubs had put more into junior development in the last 10 years instead of paying for foreign inports of dubious quality then we might have had a sport paying within its means.
  24. Reduce the strength of the EL to PL level so that we can have 2 leagues and have promotion and relegation. There needs to be fresh interest and better competition so a season can be interesting for all clubs not just the strong playoff contenders. The Matt Ford strategy would produce imo too much controversy with teams bringing in a certain rider just for a particular match.
  25. Well you could keep the majority and move into the PL but doubt this will happen. The NL is there to bring on riders and some will move to the PL if given the opportunity.
