  1. To reduce overheads several football & rugby clubs use the same stadium. Would such an idea work in Speedway? I realise the fixture list would need juggling to avoid home matches on the same night etc. Fans may well think "that other venue is not our home". But if overheads are to be kept down to help Speedway continue; would it work for say, Leicester & Coventry or Brum & Wolves (where Cradley already ride) to use the one track?
  2. In just a few week'a time, it's the Rio carnival. Those topless young women waving to the spectators from the floats; will they be dispensed with?
  3. Following the announcement that Formula 1 will dispense with Grid Girls and darts are to drop Walk on Girls, will Speedway follow suit and dispense with it's Gate Girls?
  4. BBC Radio Cambs this morning reported "The future of the Panthers is in doubt after the club was given a £45,000 for an infringement of team selection rules". They said it was the club being fined, not any individual.
  5. I watched the Bulldogs when Phil Crump was their top rider. When his son Jason was World Champion he said in an interview that he still has his dad's Bulldogs bib and if speedway got going in Bristol again, he'd ride for them. Sadly that won't be happening now. On a football forum there was a thread about speedway in football stadia. One person posted the following, but anyone on here have more details please? "There is a new consortium, that has been given permission to use the Bristol Bulldogs name. They are actively seeking new land for a track and hope to have a team up and running next season, for a series of 'friendlies' in the lower leagues on away tracks. tbh...I think they have no chance with the Bristol council getting planning permission. But I wish them luck. If only Speedway in this country was like in Poland".

    What Went Wrong?

In tonight's WC Final, the British team appear to be slower than their rivals. Can the riders not cope, or do they have a collective bike problem?

    Sky To Pull Out.

For F1, football & rugby (of both codes) all televised dates and channels are advertised well in advance. Has a schedule for televised Speedway been issued please? If so, which channels?
  8. http://www.peterborougharena.com/the-venue/events/whats-on Nothing on (yet) between March and July. I've never understood why Panthers are always away when the BMF Rally is held at the EOES. All those bikers there would produce a bumper gate for the Panthers.
  9. Not so many seasons back, the Elite League consisted of ten clubs; for the last few it's been eight. In the last ten years Birmingham, Oxford, Reading, Ipswich, Peterborough & Eastbourne have either folded or dropped out of the EL as they could no longer afford to be in it. Earlier in this thread I read posts suggesting clubs that "may" find themselves in the EL. To prevent a mid season collapse, will we see a scenario where any club applying for EL membership must prove their financial backing, (a bit like air lines having an ATOL licence)?
  10. Saw some film recently about women in Norfolk. The film is held by the East Anglian Film Archive. One sequence showed Evie Aster riding in Speedway matches and winning in the 1920's & 30's at a track in Norfolk. She had to stop riding as the then authorities decided only men could ride in Speedway.
  11. If wealthy Steve Lansdowne invited Rebels to join his Bristol Sport "umbrella" (Bristol City FC, Bristol Rugby, Ladies Netball etc), could/would the Rebels be able to move into the Elite League? Some of their current riders double up in PL & EL.

    Tatum Bingo

"You could throw a blanket over all four of them". Expanding this thread, my wife & I play a counting game when watching Speedway on TV. Nearly every rider continually says "You know"? In one three minute interview, Nikki Pedersen uttered "You know" fifteen times and answering one question; "Yeah you know, you know".!

What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?

Would the Elite league be more attractive in 2017 if it consisted of ten clubs again? If the answer to that is yes, then to keep them up, the most financially solvent clubs from the Premiership would have to be promoted. My reasoning is that the clubs who've dropped out in recent seasons all did so due to cash problems.

    Speedway On Tv 2016

Watching the European Championship on BT Sport this evening. Hmm; Latvia, Russia, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Slovenia; pardon my ignorance, but why no GB? Are we not good enough to qualify or unable to find anyone willing to ride for us or is there some other reason please?
  15. In addition to the valid points mentioned in the other posts, no team ever goes to an away meeting hoping to come away with a 0-0 draw!
