Thank you Sid, im working hard to get better, the days continue to improve but the nights are still iffy, Have the big scan in Marc, i will be a little shaky. The problem this country has is the money situation Sid, to attract these big names back you would need sponsors to chip in to pay there points money. Very few clubs can afford it now. Thats why im guessing the 8 pt rule was brought in..

Yes i thought that as my club i believe would of struggled to be able to afford Doyle a real shame but Speedway clubs need to be able to balance the books.Saying that this year could be good one clubs look closer together in ability which should produce close encounters.

If CVS confirmed that Steve then thats good enough. We still have a splattering of top class riders here tho, but a few more wouldnt go amiss, providing there pay demands are rasonable.

That is what is crazy with this one 8 point man only, the opportunity was there to entice more stars back clubs only doing it if they could afford it.I actually think Poole,Belle Vue,Leicester especially have essembled  exciting teams this year they are the teams i am most looking forward to s seeing.Maybe  Pawlicki, Tai, Zagar  (etc might be enticed back  to the UK in the future i hope you feeling better and you could be well anough for the start of the season.

Drodz is the only risk. The other 2 have improved massively in Poland since they were here in 2016.

The Poole track though Steve could be a big concern it has been poor for along time now  i  really liked  Woryna when he rode for Coventry and now he is different gravy.I can see him averaging over 7,  M.S in the top five i am not totally convinced with he will do well to average anywhere near 6.7 in my view at reserve he will be fine.

Cook vs kurtz - kurtz is improving at a fast rate, is only marginally behind Cooks average now and has expierienxe at number one in the top flight whereas Cook hasnt. Come October I would say Kurtz will higher average so I would probably go with him.

Fricke vs Holder - Holder all day long , he wont be world champ again but if he has his head remotely screwed on there is plenty of room to add to his figure. Fricke didnt kick on as hoped last season.

Tungate vs Sundstrom - Sundstrom all day long.

Worrall vs Josh G - hard one but Josh G averaged more last season and that was from riding at 1 in a struggling side.

Then you throw in the two Poles and this Poole side looks brilliant. If they avoid injuries I cannot see anyone touching them, and that is just with the Poles adding to their figures. The top three could all add a point if not more to their aves.

All those Poole riders have question marks over them for me  i just think i would trust those Belle Vue  riders more certainly at home. Also Belle Vue by the end of the season have the best reserve in the league and  i actually think Bewley could later on stay in the top five all season.

If Woryna averages well over seven which i believe he will then that will push Poole  on easily into the top four but Sundstrom i am not convinced with he is certainly no better than Andersen  but Poole really have an exciting team but something in the back of my mind niggles away at me i am not totally convinced like some.

How do you know Drozdz will struggle , or is that just your opinion ?

Cook , Fricke , Tungate , Worrall are a strong top 4 , especially if Tungate can carry on the good form he showed towards the end of the season

Certainly As strrong a top 4 as any other team... on paper at least

I think Drozdz  is worth a punt what i have seen of him he looks like he could  be very useful away will be a learning curve for him but he will be fine at home.A really strong top four with a young talent at reserve also Etheridge can contribute.I just think this side has a better balance to it than say with Smith at reserve and a lasse Bjerre or  Hougaard in i am not a fan of either of those two.

    Don't rate this BV team.

Drodz will struggle. Etheridge needed a season in the 2nd tier to get use to the away tracks. Could be the same regarding the top tier.

Will lose the scoring power of Bewley at reserve very quickly when he moves up into the 1-5.

Top end isn't exactly that strong either when you look at other teams.

I like the look of this team Fricke and Cook can improve Bewley is an imerging talent and Worrall can add a bit more consistency. Also  even though Etheridge did not score many on his visit to the Abbey he has something and will do ok at home.I did think Belle Vue might of  gone for Pickering instead but Etheridge will do ok fingers crossed that Fricke kicks on this year Belle Vue need him to this side with the new pole will be exciting to watch.

I remember Iversen for Newport at Swindon in, it must of been 2003. In heat 15 he laid it down on the first bend and stayed down, Newport were 2 up going into that heat i think with Watson unbeaten after 4 rides . Iversen got fined for staying down and the ref fined him , in which the  crowd had a whipround. Pretty sure wato needed to win heat 15 to win it for newport but missed the gate in the re run and altho he passed Allen (?) he couldnt get close to Gjedde. Good times

I first took my youngest son back in the PL days and Iversen was on the scene with Newport at that time we all thought Gjedde was the business.I don't think any of us thought that PUK would go on to have the career he has had great value can't wait to see him ride again can he get back in the series? i hope so.

All these comparisons between 2 top riders is superficial.  For years we have been thinking of ways to induce more quality riders to race here,   and now we invent rules to  stop them from doing the one thing we have always craved them to do.

The fixed race nights  would have opened the  doors for some them top riders,  but the short-sightedness of the BSPA introducing this '1over8' rule has  in fact  closed any doors that may have been ajar....

    Crazy........

Without that '1over8' rule, we could have had more GP ridesr than we have had for years.....

To be honest  i think the UK needs to plan ahead without the GP stars the money is not there anymore. This year the teams apart from King's Lynn/Rye House look pretty evenly matched hopefully the season is a good one.

  9. Lindgren has reinvented himself for me a top eight rider in the world. In England  apart from maybe one year Freddie has been terrific given great service a great team man and in this moment in time a level ahead of Niels.Even when Niels was in his Pom in the EL he was never that impressive at the Abbey this year is a massive year for Iversen is he regressing ?i hope not .Will the likes of Kurtz,Morris young number ones get the better of him it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Lol. lindgrens years as top dog are long gone in the el now.

2016 when both Iversen and lindgren rode in the EL, Iversen was two points higher than him so anyone suggesting he would be a better signing for Lynn than iversen is deluded.

Lindgren was one of the top averaged riders last year but so he should be in such a weak league.

For kings lynn iversen is a much better signing than Lindgren would be.

I can't agree with that Lindgren has showed tremendous character to regroup and get his career back on track after a poor year.He is definitely a top eight rider now in the world  and that has really surprised me Iversen is the same position that Lindgren was in needs he to prove he is still a force at top level I hope he does it.

  11. Swindon, Poole,Belle Vue,Wolves would be my picks for the play/offs. Zach W to surprise and more than be a match at home against most reserves he will kick on Ellis is the key he can progress again Swindon will be hard to beat at home.Poole look exciting a few question marks to answer but Woryna to average over 7 i believe can Holder get back.? Belle Vue are my favourites Fricke and Bewley have huge potential Cook a great team man and Tungate to improve.Wolves as always will be good at home and as usual you will have to respect them Thorssell to hold his own as number 1.

Strangely enough, before Tony came to Britain his name was always spelt Richardsson in the foreign results section of the Speedway Star; So Sidney may have something there!

For me, Rickardsson will always be the guv'nor. 6 wins from 9 gp's including 4 in a row, in 2005 was phenomenal.

So now we've established Poole are going to win the league at a canter... I'm wondered whether people think Brady Kurtz is better than Nick Morris?

    ;)

I did make a mistake Terry but you are so right, in certain programmes his name was spelt without the k in it.

If you are going refer to someone by name you should at least spell his name correctly.

Sorry about that kind sir  is it a hanging crime ???? are you that superior i think not.I have always thought you were a decent chap na i was totally wrong a complete asshole is more near to the mark.

I don't back as some on here, i didn't see Fundin, Mauger, Collins etc, i did see Neilsen and remember him saying his knew he was in trouble when Rickardsson was behind him, they couldn't stand being beaten by one another. Loram was amazing to watch but i have to say Rickardsson was a different level to anyone i have seen on a bike probably typified by his wall of death ride at Cardiiff.

God that last sentence was so predictable,  have a look back at  some of Gollob's  moves unbelievable he did stuff that Rickrdsson could  only dream of doing.

At least you could spell his name right even if you are not a big fan of his!

Forever i have given you the benefit of the doubt endless times in the past yet you seem to take great delight in taking the piss out of me why don't you take your blue tinted glasses off.!!!

I don't think he is better than them in the Premiership personally, maybe the Championship due to his extra experience of those tracks. Yes they are both club assets and local lads, products of the Young Stars in fact.

I don't think it's a particularly awkward figure to accommodate, plenty of teams could have fitted him in if they wished.

Rose will do very well to better or equal his last average he is also coming back from injury and he really over achieved coped great in the top five.Kerr for me is just a gater hit and miss again he has comeback well from his horrendous injuries and I applaud that .

  18. 4 minutes ago, Bagpuss said:

He's not in the top five because he is on a four point average. Nobody knows if he will be any good but he is at an age where he is likely to improve and somebody must have seen some potential in him to sign him.

Not going to get into the Auty debate again as we'll never agree. But I'd suggest that the fact that nobody has signed him on a 4.68 probably says it all.

But you sign a bloke with no real reputation as such,  i  know he is promising been mentioned but this Kings Lynn line up looks mighty weak.they cannot afford to carry anyone. As for the 4.68 average that is an awkward figure to fit in anywhere are Kerr and Rose club assets ?  so they are a cheap option Auty did an ok job last year and is better than both of them.

Trick was a completely dominant force like Mauger.  For a period he wasn’t just head and shoulders, he was simply in another league. I was a massive fan and gave the sport a huge star. Swedish speedway saw massive crowds, never seen since. Did Woffinden have the same affect to British speedway? No. He couldn’t be arsed to even ride here.

    Mauger - Trick

    Briggs

    Neilsen

    PC

    Loram-Gollob - others.
