  1. I don't think Steve will be at Scunthorpe and unfortunately I don't see him at Newcastle either, he will go Glasgow or full time PL and abroad imo

A real shame that,i enjoyed watching him at Swindon for the one year and have followed his progress ever since. He has come on so much i just hope wherever he goes he keeps on progressing.

  2. A reasonable AGM in my opinion. The main gripe people seemed to have was around fixture clashes, which has now been addressed. I'm not sure why everyone suddenly thought all the 'stars' would be back as we don't pay them near what they want. There'll be a reasonable smattering of good riders, there's no point in bankrupting clubs by offering silly money.

The T/R is now gone, which is good too.

They'll never please everyone but at least a step in the right direction.

It is pie in the sky to believe the top riders will come flooding back, you are right now certainly is not the time to be paying silly money. For me this league is what it is,and hopefully clubs will be stable and keep running for years to come.As a example at Swindon hopefully Doyle will be back he will be rewarded with more money? rightly so but how could they afford another big hitter.?It is not viable, the money is not there if the product is good whatever level you are at you have half a chance the top riders it would be great to see them but not at a cost longterm.

  3. Oh, sorry folks I got the wrong end of the stick.

Absolutely Chris should be recognised officially in the stadium with a section being named after him. Id also like to see some of his memorabilia on show.

When I last spoke to Chris about attending again he said it wasnt for him. It was like when someone doesnt want to return to the ally where they were beaten up and mugged and with the council unwilling to come clean the wound remains open.

Im hoping once he can gain some closure then he will be happy to be back in the fold.

I look forward to that day.

Such a shame the club should do everything in there power to make him welcome again.Belle Vue was everything to him,it was not all about him he put the club first everytime one of the nice guys Mort hope he is back and involved again.

  4. Pretty happy with all of that ,maybe races 8/ 14 both should of been non tactical races cant have it all i suppose. So glad that the Micky Mouse Double points rule has been abolished thought there might of been more of a push to see more young English riders at the bottom end in the Championship.

  5. Does that mean we might keep the existing stadium, and do you mean the track will be made narrower or bought in on the centre green making the bends sharper?

That is what i heard and the Market is to go as well?. If it happens the viewing set up will be just like Wolverhampton.

  6. Auty has been dropping while Kyle has been adding to his average.

I suppose that makes him a risk but if it was for a place in the main team I'd go with Kyle every time. Auty has barely been out the reserve berth!

Plus we are comparing a main team rider/average with a reserve/rider average.

    Not even a fair consideration.

Anyone that has over 6 points to play with would be mad to use Auty on his much lower average!!

Steve that is what i hate about speedway now it is a numbers game Kyle improves but he could be punished because others might be better value Bellego is another name that comes to mind.Going back to Auty he is capable of getting back over six points his terrible gating is his achilles heel Kings lynn or Belle Vue the two tracks i think that his figures would improve.

  7. I was thinking wouldn't it be great if Nick made it and earned himself a testimonial with the Robins. Can't see if he rides the Uk why he would leave and this year he has really pushed on.Rosco fair play should take alot of credit because he has had total belief in Nick's ability and now the club has reaped the rewards. Now i even look at Nick as a number 1 at home because he is very good and consistent at the Abbey hope he can push on another notch again in 2018.

  8. Of course it's only about opinion! I'm certainly not going to fall out with you because we see things different.

It's been quite a few seasons since Auty was anything like a force in the 2nd tier and appears on the decline. He certainly hasn't had much look in his formative years in the top flight and injuries may have halted his progress. However that's similar to Kyle who was messed about by Poole early on and seemed to be in and out of favour in the top flight but the draft system has certainly seen him take advantage of that.

Kyle is fine away, way better than Auty as it happens!

I'm not really interested what riders do individually it's what they do for their teams which is more important and I'd rather have a rider scoring consistently for his teams than doing well in the one competition.

I guess I'm more than happy for Kyle to be back next year and I'm sure you will be happy if you sign Auty as well!

Yes Steve i respect your view and i hope Kyle keeps on improving. I think Doyle has changed alot in speedway because he shows at whatever level you are at with luck and hard work you can improve even if it is only half a point or a point on your average.

  9. The point of Auty Steve finishing in the bottom two teams in both league's is a pretty low blow to be honest surely you look at merit.? Kyle last year was decent progressed but his PL average is still not yet as high as Auty's highest. PL average. Also in British Final's ect) Kyle rarely threatens where Auty is competetive mixes it even this year Auty ride's in the BLRC meeting was decent exciting he was unlucky not to reach semi's everyone to there own but Howarth away from Wolves is a risky prop on his average only my opinion though.😀

  10. Lambert has already said that he won't be riding in the Championship and has signed contracts in Sweden and Poland. As for loaning him out, can see what you are saying but it would lose hundreds off the gate and there is no guarantee he would come back if he got on well wherever he went instead. So it's a bad idea on many levels. He has always said that riding for a track 45 minutes down the road works well for him and lets hope that continues.

As for Auty, to me if you sign somebody on four and a half points you want them to have improvement in them and Auty just doesn't. I'm sure there will be many better options.

It does not always work out like that Gordon, my belief is if you are getting 11/12 from the reserve partnership you are doing well Auty with another reserve could do that on certain days. You have to remember Rose/ Palm Toft /Kerr are in the same boat as well if they don't cope in the top 5 they will be fine at reserve.

Auty is virtually a last minute placement in my eyes.

Hasn't improved in years and even in reserve seems to score minimal points.

One of the most highly overrated British riders of recent years.

There are likely to be better options.

Col is a known Auty admirer so is probably biased. He even suggested that Howarth will never be as good as Auty.

I am the same as Col for me there is always a place for a Entertainer and there always should be.And Steve in most peoples eyes Howarth was very lucky to get a place last year on his average and as much as i like Kyle he has now got a inflated average i certainly would not want him in my side on that average.

  11. Auty is shocking and nowhere near the level needed ...should have stay retired .

What would you know you Buffoon??😅 i respect what the King's Lynn fans opinions are of him good or bad. With your nasty personal comments about a rider call yourself a speedway fan.?

  12. I mean four /two advantages vital third places (ect) also Kerr was hit and miss at Scunny last year as well miss the gate game over will be interesting to see who is picked for 2018.

Yeah, yeah great we all get it - a wee cleek on here think speedway is crap now, used to be great, never go etc we get it - does it have to be the same dross on every single thread I mean jesus Christ every single topic the same absolute sh*t, away and live in an echo chamber, you would love it.

Head in the clouds comes to mind.😀

  13. Wolves gained from using lower league averages for Masters & Howarth rather than their proper averages.

Really hope we can start with Doyley,Nick,Musielak as a fine heat leader trio with Zach, and would love Brad back ( on low average wont happen was not appreciated by everybody).

  14. I'd say that somebody who can gate is more likely to get you a heat advantage than somebody who can't.

I mean four /two advantages vital third places (ect) also Kerr was hit and miss at Scunny last year as well miss the gate game over will be interesting to see who is picked for 2018.

  15. Auty won't improve unfortunately, that ship has sailed. He was entertaining and full of effort but was liable to throw in bad rides or meetings anywhere and I don't see him being a sensible use of points. Can't gate and will override trying to make up for that, not a good combination. Kerr can gate and knows the tracks well and would be a better signing.

That said a fully committed THJ (which in the main he was last year) on that average would be a better signing than both.

THJ does not come cheap he looked unfit as well last year and to be honest i have never rated him. Auty for his low average is ok value and for me is more likely to get you a heat advantage than Kerr who now is just a gater.Saying that Lewis has done great to get back to the level he is at a remarkable feat really Auty /Rose to swap throughout the season from reserve into the 1/5.

  16. Who is J.J?

Sorry T.J a very good and entertaining rider to watch.😀

It would be nice, if we could get Team Lewis back , even if they both wasn't in the reserves, but saying that, I thought Auty rode well last season, enough to retain some consideration for this years squad.... Have always felt Auty had terrific potential. when he joined us mid season, I felt all he needed was the confidence that comes when you belong somewhere. Some of his performances were far better than one expected. If we could find space for him I sure he would progress to the next level..........

You never get fed-up watching someone who always tries......

I really hope Auty gets another chance at Lynn i think he can improve and he is a rider when he has things right attacks tracks you certainly need that at Lynn.Kerr is a worry for me a gater really and over a season you need to be able to mix it that is why the fans will always like T.J and Auty they are great entertainers and triers in the mould of some of yesteryear riders.

  17. Totally agree, some tracks are just not suited to today's bikes and engines. Sheffield used to be a brilliant racetrack but now it looks too narrow and processional. Belle Vue has moved the bar, it just makes most of the others look sick.

Swindon going back to the days of the England v Usa test days was a great racetrack one of the best now it is average at best.I hate saying that but it is true i stand on bend two there and i believe bend two there is dangerous riders often getting sucked into the air fence. Also going on what i have seen and others have told me Sheffield/King's Lynn who i always knew as great racetracks have also gone downhill can thing's improve i hope so because it needs to.In November now nothing has changed AGAIN no urgency and does Mr Chapman and co believe that everything in the garden is rosy.Going back to Mr Chapman how is he still in that job??? he has delivered nothing so far and he also had a year of turmoil at his own club.Come March i will look forward to the new season but things have to improve i think the sport in the UK now has tough tests ahead to survive.

  18. Which part of that makes me a tool? Watching speedway from that era on TV and it seems equally as boring as todays does on TV.. im sure there were great and poor meetings live much like there is now

For the last four or five years watching racing at Swindon you would be hard pushed to name watching ten decent races in that time.Years ago of course there was some dross but today at times it is boring some of that i believe is down to the tracks.
