  1. Ron Johnson was an Australian of Scottish heritage. Do you mean Ron Johnston who was a fine rider for Belle Vue?

The one who was born in Dunedin New zealand .😜

  2. Bobby Beaton drove our supporters coach a couple of weeks back , scary to think he's in his early sixties now .

Bobby really was an exciting rider a lovely style and he was not to shabby either at Newcastle in his Div 2 days.Paulco was Coatbridge the largest track you ever went to ? and did you see Christer Siosten/Egon Muller ride there?.I saw Muller score 0 at the Abbey for Coatbridge then 10 years later he went on and become World Champ.

  3. He was very popular at Glasgow , who he joined from that mob along the M8 .

He was at Glasgow's 60th anniversary meeting in 2006 and I asked him what the " S " stood for , he replied " super " .

Sadly he passed away not too long after that .

I always thought that was Oyvind's best form when at Glasgow i only saw Glasgow a few times also saw Coatbridge as well Jimmy mac, Monk,Beaton, Hunter C.Sjosten great seeing those teams you usually only see them once a year.

  4. Forgot about Oyvind S.Berg!

Not really familiar with Hveem...impressive record it has to be said!

Oyvind S Berg was quite popular at Oxford wasnt he Steve? him along with Middleton and the underated Genz all were Oxford legends.

  5. The Top Three pick themselves Gundersen, Nielsen, Olsen, Im biased i saw Eric ride for Cradley from when he was a raw 17 year old reserve to when his career was cruelly cut short with his life changing injuries received on that ill fated day in Bradford, Jan O we will never know how good he would have been again through career ending injuries, and Nikki P a different era so difficult to compare, Tommy Knudsen would be in some peoples Top 5 and justifiably so, I think all of them would more than hold there own against todays top riders, just take a line through Greg Hancock, this would prove my point.

Knudsen was top class and he was very unlucky in 1986 at his best he could compete with Hans/Erik so unlucky with injury.

  6. Enjoyed the meeting where the score was close at the end and some of the youngsters showed what they could do. Lets have some more, a 4 or 6 race second half would save on costs. Zach would already be at the meeting, young Anders, who is watching most meetings might want a few extra meetings as a guest, and Lee could try out any rider he might want to look at for a next year if NL is an option.

Atkins was there last night ORLOV" do you know why he didnt ride was he injured or maybe had exams.? Last night there was some good racing the Culpitt v Priest race was good also the Zach v Roynon races were very interesting.I dont know what you think but young Hampshire has something there is a good young rider in there somewhere.

  7. I see Zach has just won 10 heats on the trot in the NL with 2 full maximums on consecutive nights..

I went to Wednesdays meeting and he was different class with the likes of carr,JPB,Bacon and morley unable to get anywhere near him..

Having watched him for the last 3 years he has really kicked on this season and that must be mainly down to him testing himself in the top flight..

I am really pleased you have stuck with him and hopefully to will reap the benefit..

Are you guys pleased with hes progress this season ? or do you think its just a little bit too tough for him at this level ?

Again last night he was superb quick really smooth and if Swindon treat him as a longterm asset he has loads of improvement.Last night in his last ride Roynon gated him yet he came through on the second lap and we all know Roynon is no slouch. For me his next aim next year is to try and move up the ladder in the Championship he has the potential to be a longterm big player in that league.I just hope Swindon dont lose him through the points game ( averages) he has to get a place i am pleased for him because he is a level headed young man.

  8. It is very hard to guess how many people attend? how many people actually pay the 12 quid i dont know. For me i enjoy the racing and hope we have a full time NL team next year but if i had a guess i dont think it will happen.I really hope i am wrong on that score could a NL team be priced in with a season ticket to make it a attractive price for the fan and also viable for the club.?

  9. It is not over sensitive. I am simply pointing out that it is unacceptable language.

    Unless we are talking about:-http://mrbrains.co.uk/products/

I do like a nice faggot now and again i made my comment in jest just like someone might say to me you country Bumkin or you carrot cruncher.Anyway no offence meant and i opologize to you and Gater not a problem .🤗

Gater1 and Mr Brains...in the same sentence...shurely shome mishtake.

Tungate's non-arrival is not the end of the world. There will be someone to fill Dany's boots soon enough. Clearly, we were outwitted by Belle Vue who probably offered a few more wallaby steaks than El Tel.

Given how weak the perceived bottom 4 are, and they are weak, Swindon have been more than competitive. We have 2 wins away from home and 3 losing points, so there can't be too much wrong. Speedway is a funny ol' game. The right rider change will make the difference and there is always someone available that will slot in and make us competitive.

Do you think Swindon might have something up there sleeve ? i think so.

  10. Cheap homophobic abuse is hardly a persuasive way to further an argument. If you can't contribute anything better than that to the debate I suggest that you find a stone to crawl back under.

I did not make the comment to mean that but of course if you want to be over sensitive it is your prerogative.

  11. Its not my fault Gappmaier is in the 1-5.

  12. Probably the same reasons that saw him rank Mike bast in the top 20 riders of all time...

Fwiw I agree with the OPs list and order

Id say Sid the top 3 are all in the top 15 of all time and quite possibly dirty nicki as well.

Erik for me could be in at least on the fringes but 15 is not alot eaces 1" Olsen/Nielsen are certainties Nicki P no way in the top 15.
