    What's that regarding?

    Team Suits and/or Race Jackets

It's more than just the team ethic, it's everything. It looks cool, it's the image, it's the brand. If there is one thing the powers that be don't get (and trust me, there is a lot that they don't get) it's branding. I've never known a sport to be so out of touch with the modern era.

No it doesn't work like that. It's not over engineering, it's basic engineering. If you flood the infield it will run back onto the track. 300m of track is not a short span by any means. Overlapping isn't sufficient to prevent them leaking, in fact, even a slight breeze would make them useless. Go and grab a tarpaulin, spread it out across the ground and stick some bricks on all the corners. Watch for yourself how quickly large amounts of air will wave underneath them. Pegging would not be sufficient. See above. The wind alone would pull pegs out on an area that large. It's a 300m long speedway track, not a tent. It can't be done that way, you haven't seen it done that way anywhere else before and it wouldn't work. If it did work, they'd be doing it. Prep for meetings starts hours before the meeting starts and would add very little extra work to take some tarpaulins down. Rain offs cost the clubs an absolute fortune. There is absolutely no reason why we wouldn't all be doing it if it worked. It doesn't work.

No he is right, it doesn't work like that. First of all the weight of the water causes the sheets to bow slightly in the middle. The water then collects in the bows rather than running straight off of the sheet. The water will then (due to wind, the weight of the water, bowing in other areas, etc) move around the sheet and go down the gaps between the sheets and on to the track. The only way to avoid this would be to have either one big oval sheet, or several sheets that can be zipped together (in a completely watertight manner, you couldn't just use regular zips) and then rigidly ratchet strapped top and bottom around the track, a meter or two apart at most, to keep the sheet tight enough to avoid bowing. For Poole this would mean a good 500 odd strapping points I'd imagine. The points they are strapped to would also need to be very strong. Strong enough to withstand strong wind, which when exerted on a piece of fabric that big can be quite a force and could easily pull out the strapping points if not strong enough. Even if you had one big water tight sheet strapped at dozens of points around the track, then the water still has to go somewhere. You'd need a large oval drain on the inside of the track that is wide enough to catch all the water running off and also with a wide enough exit pipe to keep up with the speed of the rainfall. A bunch of tarpaulins strapped from the fence to the inner field won't help at all. All you'll have is a track that is just as wet, and a sh*t load of wet tarpaulins to put away. Long story short: It won't work. You need a roof.

And as a result his performances were rubbish. I'm not insulting the guy, I'm just stating he was a bit rubbish. The only wrong thing to do was keep him in the team. If you see a little kiddie struggling for air in a swimming pool you don't leave him there until he sorts himself out. And we shouldn't have signed a 2 point rider anyway Steve0. I think we've got bigger problems to worry about when a supposedly top flight sport is recruiting people who've barely even rode a speedway bike before. Imagine Manchester United signing you because you'd played a bit of basketball before and you'd always fancied a kick about.

What are you talking about? Are you insulting me because I'm not a fossil? I'd think you'd be grateful for people like me. There's not many of us left who pay using our wages and not our their pension.

We built our team around having a 2 pointer that we expected to do better. He didn't do better. The rest of the team is comprised of riders who have proven themselves abroad, but are yet to get to grips with British tracks. James hasn't even proven he can grow a beard yet. Performing well in Sweden or Poland is a far higher accolade than living within a 15 mile radius of the club. Glad they got rid of him, was the right thing to do. With a league weaker than a milky tea, you can't afford to waste time on riders like James Shanes. Even Kyle Newman has the potential to challenge for heat leader.

I mean... if you'd like to turn our dying sport into a charity for incompetent riders then sign him up. We can have a whole team of Shanes!

James Shanes was awful. Clearly not up to the job. Reserves famously win titles and James was rubbish.

    So? he was still rubbish.

No, James was sh*t. Stop making excuses just because he's English.

Interesting article in the Bournemouth Echo. Sundstrom out for Gavin. Gavin in for Kurtz. Middlo has decided to take the rest of the 2018 season off and will be replaced by Gavin. Holder is having visa issues and so Worrall is to be replaced by Gavin. Grajczonek has finally been replaced by Gavin (long overdue imo) and Szczepaniak has been replaced with Gavin. Woryna's recent performances were too good for Gavin and so he has been replaced by Gavin. The only rider to remain is Nielsen, whose new team manager Gavin claims is "our greatest asset". Gavin has also announced that he intends to replace Gavin, Gavin, Gavin, Gavin, Gavin and Gavin with some poorly scoring English riders as this is "the right thing to do" and "is the right thing for Britain". He is also petitioning a complete ban on any black riders, or riders who have an accent unlike his own, joining the British league. Gavin was quoted as saying "Nick Morris, Nick Morris, Nick Morris".

Smolinski wouldn't be a bad signing at all. Some people on this thread talk like Britain is still a worthy league that can do better than Smolinski Get real mate, we've only got the Aussies over here so they don't have to learn Polish.

Gavin will you shut up about Kurtz and Morris, it's boring me to tears. Nobody give's a hoot who is better.

Don't be such a sore loser! We have good years and bad years. It's not over yet. The way things are at the moment it's not like Matt has a lot of options. A lot of people on here seem to be acting like they can predict the future. At the start of the season you were all saying about how Woryna and Szczepaniak were heat leaders and Poole would run away with the victory. Nobody knows what will happen! If they did there'd be no point starting the season.

Can't see where we're going to go from here. 2018 is not our season. Time for Josh to go. Lacking a real captain like Chris or Darcy.

Sadly that was probably the best race of the night... Definitely the most passing!
