Stars vs Aces - 11th April 2024
Clive Ward replied to SpeedwayFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Great post agree with everything you said especially getting frustrated when we could have got something from the first two meetings and didn’t but I only see the team improving as the season progresses. Having said that I feel it’s going to be difficult making the play-offs as Ipswich, Belle Vue and Sheffield are going to take some beating so making sure we take the other 6 bonus points off Oxford,Leicester and Birmingham is going to be vitally important for our chances. -

My main concern is that the track is prepared the way the riders want it and not how other people think it should be. -

I think that there is going to be a lot of matches where results are going to be very close as to who wins the bonus point, could be the most closest and entertaining seasons for an awful long time. -

King’s Lynn vs Leicester - Thursday 28th March
Clive Ward replied to SpeedwayFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Toby should double his score from the Leicester meeting so if the rest of the team match their scores that will give us 48 pts which would be enough for the win plus the bonus point although I’m hoping for at least a 50-40 winning margin. Can’t remember when I last looked forward to a meeting as much as this one. -

Changing rider order for home and away highlights the fact that we are one seven point rider missing from being a really good team -

Never had a season ticket before but will have one this year as it’s a good deal. You can miss 2 of the 13 meetings and still be as well off. -

King's Lynn v Belle Vue 08/06/22
Clive Ward replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
My thoughts entirely -
If a rider who is 5th in the world can come and ride in this country on an 8 average what would the assessed average of a rider who is 15 in the world? Like a lot Lynn fans I’ve followed Robert since he was riding for Lynn in the national league but it still doesn’t make it right that he can come back and ride on an 8 average

Predictions for Prem 2023 as teams stand ...
Clive Ward replied to Pauldoveyspeedway's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Both Nic and Josh will do well this season, Nic’s average last year was 8.32 and as long as he is around that figure again I will be happy as for Josh on a 6.98 well I’m expecting he will put at least a point on that. My only worry is that we are relying on strength in depth and if we do pick up injuries getting good riders on 6 and 7 averages will be pretty difficult. I think only TJ is injury prone in the team this year so fingers crossed for a good year, god Lynn supporters deserve one. As you say szkocjasid predicted that we would finish second so that makes him a top man in my book -
Predictions for Prem 2023 as teams stand ...
Clive Ward replied to Pauldoveyspeedway's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
With a lot of people putting the stars in the bottom 2 I think they are going to get a surprise tho I’m not 100% sure on what KK will produce but if he turns up every week I feel confident that we will at least make the playoffs. Here is my prediction. 1 Sheffield 2 Belle Vue 3 Kings Lynn 4 Ipswich 5 Peterborough 6 Leicester 7 Wolverhampton Very difficult to say other than Sheffield and Belle Vue who I think are nailed on for the top 2 -

As I understood it Freddy moves into the top five after the first league meeting and unless one of the 6 pointers has a disaster it will be Pickering who drops to reserve. -

Ipswich v King's Lynn 11 August
Clive Ward replied to Roger Jacobs's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I agree, it’s never over till its mathematically not possible to do it.IMO I still think we have a chance, a slight chance but you have to hope everything will come good in the end. As I see it Wolves have only 2 home meetings Belle Vue and Sheffield, say they only win one of those and they lose all of their 4away meetings Ipswich, Sheffield, Belle Vue and the Stars giving them a total of 3 points. We have four home meetings left Belle Vue, Sheffield, Peterborough and Wolverhampton and I have to be optimistic that we wii get 12 points from those meetings which means we would need a 4 point win at Peterborough and get 1 point at both Ipswich and Sheffield and if the wolves lost both of their home meetings the point at Ipswich and Sheffield wouldn’t be needed. I do believe Alex has been worked really hard to achieve a playoff spot so let’s get behind him and the team and hope for the best. Also if Masters misses most of Wolves meetings and Jacobsen starts scoring we have an even better chance. -
Just got rid of my Betfair app cos they don’t do speedway. Can anybody recommend a good online bookie that does speedway Thanks in advance

With six teams in the league it’s a joke that we have to have a cup final in late October -

Yes can’t understand why we don’t have a home meeting every week in late July and August when kids are off school and a lot of people on holiday at sunny hunny -
League Cup Final Sheffield v Kings Lynn
Clive Ward replied to RS50's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Don’t forget that championship clubs don’t ride on a Monday or Thursday night but how many Mondays or Thursdays have we had where all six teams have been riding…….very few -
IMO shouldn’t be allowed to help run two teams in the same league just as Buster shouldn’t be allowed to own two teams just can’t see that being allowed in any other sport

Totally agree with your post, to win something at the end of the season would be brilliant for the fans after what we had to endure last year. I also think that we are not out of the playoffs just yet although klindt and Jacobsen would have to hit the ground running. Well done to Alex for making some changes I think with the riders available he couldn’t have done any better. It will be interesting to see who goes, imo who ever stays should consider themselves lucky.
