Been watching speedway in the West Midlands since I was knee high and want to continue doing so. Still a great spectacle and entertaining sport. I’d probably still moan about how the sport is run and about the poor decisions taken. But better that than having no speedway to watch.

People saying that the greyhound track at Dunstall Park will replace Perry Barr. No way will there be two greyhound tracks in Wolverhampton. The new track will replace Perry Barr and Monmore. That leaves Monmore Green vacant when the speedway closes and ripe for housing. Be nice to think when the dogs leave that speedway could take over Monmore, but no way would that stadium be financially viable if it’s just used for speedway 20+ times a year. I wondered if a track and stadium could be created in East Park. Build it around the cycle speedway track that’s already there, and if the council are really keen to keep speedway in the town they could help develop a multi sport venue there, maybe with a leisure centre.

And for Perry Barr the company that owns the track have already released their 2024 greyhound racing schedule, and it includes Wednesday evenings, the Brummies current race night

Totally agree Tommy. Sadly this company will be banking on the profits from selling to a housing company and we will be into the same kind of long winded battle that Coventry are in. But if the council took over ownership of the site, then maybe they could lease it out to a speedway promoter, if the price was right

The owners of Monmore Green, Entain, are in a joint venture with ARC who own a number of horse racing venues including Dunstall Park in Wolverhampton. Plans are now emerging to build a greyhound track at Dunstall Park which would almost certainly lead to the Monmore Green site being redeveloped for housing.

Wouldn’t knock the council in terms of supporting sport in Wolverhampton. They were instrumental in saving Molineux when the Bhatti brothers were planning other ideas. I also heard that a site was being looked at in South Staffs, closer to the M6. But there were problems with that venue being too close to a motorway junction.
-
Feels overdue for supporters to get an update on what is going on to try to secure the future of the club. Are the stadium owners entering into any dialogue in that respect? Is there any real prospect of finding an alternative venue in the locality? Do we have to accept that we are now into the final 3 months of speedway in Wolverhampton?

Peterborough now have the same problem we had with Becker in that to replace Nicki Pedersen they can now only use a rider with a 25% lower average. With Leicester the only team not riding on Monday they will use Erik Riss at number 1. Should make for a comfortable home win
-
As a number of people said when the Wolves team was announced for 2023, we will struggle to make the play offs this season
-
Regardless of the rights and wrongs of the facility given to Wolves I think it’s incorrect that the decision rests in the hands of one person. Nothing against Vatcher, don’t know him from Adam, but these decisions should be handled by a committee not one person. I understand the facility is for a guest with an average of 5.33 or less. What does that equate to in terms of a championship riders average

Remember the days when Australians were brought up riding on the massive open spaces of Sydney Showground etc while the Danes were the small track specialists from their home country. Strange now to see a Wolves team dominated by Aussies and a Peterborough team full of Danes

Doyle and Emil makes Ipswich pretty strong in heats 13 and 15! Look forward to seeing them at Monmore. Peterborough look to have a terrible team but have room for a big signing. Their forum suggests it could be Freddie but surely not?

On the occasional times Kemp made the gate last season he looked smooth and fast. But he didn’t battle for points anywhere near as much as Leon Flint and I’m much happier to have him in the team

Team looks booked for the wooden spoon again as things stand. How many points left to play with for the final position. And if it’s Laguta what average would he have?
