7.56 converted PL average? Would he achieve it on current form?
  2. Somerset will win it this year I think they will beat Newcastle in the Final. other 4 to make the play-offs will be Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sheffield and I think Ipswich may well sneak in winning 6 of their last 8 meetings

What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?

Two teams have to be cut - Scunny and Redcar to boss it in the National League......

    Coventry 2017

Squad systems will not work as there are not enough riders to go around for 7 rider teams so forget squads.... There needs to be 2 leagues of 10 teams - North and South - keep it mainly local so hopefully more bodies get through the turnstiles then have a big play-off scrap at the end of the season of North/South as well as a regional cup competition and a British Cup that combines all 20 teams. Scrap the GP riders and those who do not want many meetings in the UK. Restrict engine tuning so that its cheaper and that all riders will be able to run a machine with the same power - let the rider skill do the talking.... 6-rider teams if you split it between North & South - its simple.... you can only get a guest rider from the opposite league so you won't see a Berwick rider guesting for Glasgow for example, and limit it, a rider can only guest for one other club 3 times per year that way clubs are not forever guesting the same rider. take a look at my reply in the general boards

What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?

Lets me honest about the above teams..... its a list of most of the current Elite League riders with a handful removed because of GP commitments - and they are replaced with a few extra British riders stepping up from the National League...so its actually a mixture between the two.... Depends what way you look at it, but British Speedway needs to rebuild from the bottom up and it would mean teams looking similar to the list I have provided above.
  6. I am pretty sure it was 1989 as I think the Crashes and Cock Ups tape is in the house somewhere. I wasn't old enough to remember his Leicester days - I was only old enough to remember the Exeter days

What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?

I have said before and it has been said on here, British Speedway needs to head back to basics and grow the sport from bottom up meaning no GP riders and giving UK based riders more opportunities for a pay-day. Bikes should feature standard engines or "limited" tuning to keep costs down and in theory have bikes more equal so its down to ability - pay structure should be fixed as already stated somewhere on this thread. British League South should consist of 10 teams riding Home & Away once, top 4 into Play-Offs British League North as above Mock Up of potential teams British League South POOLE - SAM MASTERS - PAUL STARKE - BJARNE PEDERSEN - KYLE NEWMAN - ADAM ELLIS - MAX CLEGG IPSWICH - DANNY KING - GINO MANZARES - NICO COVATTI - MORTEN RISAGER - BRADLEY DEAN - DANYON HUME KINGS LYNN - ROBERT LAMBERT - SIMON STEAD - MIKKEL MICHELSEN - LEWIS ROSE - KAI HUCKENBECK - JOSH BAILEY LAKESIDE - KIM NILSSON - RYAN DOUGLAS - LEWIS BRIDGER - LEWIS KERR - LUKE CHESSELL - ROB MEAR SWINDON - LEE PAYNE- CHARLES WRIGHT - NICK MORRIS - JUSTIN SEDGMAN - JOSH AUTY - TOM STOKES KENT - RORY SCHLEIN - STUART ROBSON - CAMERON HEEPS - TROY BATCHELOR - DANNY AYRES - LUKE BOWEN SOMERSET -JOSH GRAJCZONEK - KYLE HOWARTH - JAKE ALLEN - TY PROCTOR - ZACH WAIJKNECHT - ALEX DAVIES PETERBORO - KENNETH BJERRE - LASSE BJERRE - SCOTT NICHOLLS - TOM PERRY - SIMON LAMBERT - JAMES SHANES RYE HOUSE - EDDIE KENNETT - KASPER LYKKE - RICKY WELLS - NIKOLAJ BUSK JAKOBSEN - BEN MORLEY - ROB BRANFORD PLYMOUTH - BRADY KURTZ - JACK HOLDER - TODD KURTZ - NICKOLAS PORSING - STEFAN NIELSEN - CONNOR COLES BRITISH LEAGUE NORTH COVENTRY - CHRIS HARRIS - JAMES SARJEANT - JASON GARRITY - BEN BARKER - JOE JACOBS - LIAM CARR LEICESTER - PATRICK HOUGARD - NICOLAI KLINDT - LUDVIG LINDGREN - SZYMON WOZNIAK - CARL WILKINSON - CONNOR MOUNTAIN BELLE VUE - RICHIE WORRALL - ROHAN TUNGATE - JOSH BATES - RENE BACH - ADAM ROYNON - DAN BEWLEY WOLVES - MAX FRICKE - PETER KARLSSON - KACPER WORYNA - DENNIS JONSSON - MASON COMPTON - ELLIS PERKS EDINBURGH - CRAIG COOK - ERIK RISS - MARK RISS - KEVIN WOLBERT - HENNING BAGER - JAKE KNIGHT NEWCASTLE - STEVE WORRALL - MATEJ KUS - MICHAEL PALM-TOFT - VICTOR PALOVAARA - DAKOTA NORTH - JACOB BUKHAVE SHEFFIELD - DIMITRI BERGE - MADS KORNELIUSSEN - CLAUS VISSING - SEB ALDEN - ARTHUR SISSIS - NATHAN GREAVES WORKINGTON - RYAN FISHER - ULRICH OSTERGAARD - RASMUS JENSEN - DAVID BELLEGO - MATTHEW WETHERS - DANNY PHILLIPS BERWICK - JACOB THORSELL - EDUARD KRCMAR - KEVIN DOOLAN - THEO PIJPER - THOMAS JORGENSEN - LUKE PRIEST GLASGOW - RICHARD LAWSON - AARON SUMMERS - FERNANDO GARCIA - NIKE LUNNA - KENNETH HANSEN - ASHLEY MORRIS League meetings over a 15 heat format with the old tactical rule - points scored 3-2-1-0 using the current points system. 8. Thought my dad would be mentioned I wasn't born when he crashed at blackbird road. One I remember of his was at poole between 1988-1992 off gate 4 entering the 1st turn he got caught with tony langdon he hit the fence at the start of turn one ploughed through it and the impact took his crash helmet off and it went flying onto the centre green Remember the poole fan in front laughing saying "cookie has lost his head"

Bored at work so a few suggestions to keep Foxhall rocking next season Introduction of the Foxhall Flyer Leaderboard - Each home meeting 2 x ex Witches riders are invited down to have a few warm up laps pre meeting then during the interval both riders take it in turns to run 4 laps of the circuit with a "Top Gear" style leaderboard appearing updated in the program every home meeting - gives old fans the chance to remember the riders they have liked from the past, gives younger fans the chance to appreciate those who have represented the witches in the past. Introduction of a KIDS Loyality Card Advertise once the season is finished via sponsored posts on social media and local newspaper/radio that Witches are offering a Kids Loyalty card - basically any child under the age of 16 can apply for a card which is posted to them complete with Photo ID - this card allows any cardholder the chance to attend Foxhall for FREE during the whole season if accompanied by a paying adult. Work with Ipswich Town Football Club Start of the speedway season have a team flyering at the football stadium saying Season Ticket holders get £10 entry to the witches home matches all season - The football club would get behind promoting this as it rewards people for buying season tickets. Work with Schools Similar to what the football club do each home match a selection of kids from local schools or perhaps the loyalty card holders can be on the centre green during the parade waving Witches branded flags as part of the parade ceremony. Better Options for Public Under 21's only pay £8 to enter meetings all season, another loyalty in place where if they come to 9 meetings they get entry to the 10th for free - There are a lot of potential attendees at the local College and University! Better Social Media Presence Pay to sponsor adverts enticing people to Foxhall by sponsoring facebook posts targeting age/gender specific people within the Ipswich area Negotiate with Speedeworth There are a fair few "Hospitality Boxes" that Speedeworth rent out at Foxhall - These can be rented and entertain X amount of people for a fee payable to Speedeworth - if its for Speedway you pay for the box but doesn't include tickets (these have to be purchased seperately) - why? The boxes should be part of the rent that the Witches pay - if the club have access to these they can hire these out direct to local business as a corporate night out, birthdays, stag do's etc. Just a few ideas while I am at work

  12. Just a thought as this will not happen over night, but as with F1, does anyone think that the GP series could evolve in the future where the 16 riders whom compete within it are doing it on a full-time basis only and thus not racing for a league club? Obviously the money would have to be there in order for this to happen, and the series itself would have to expand from say 11 rounds to 18 rounds - it could potentially take the series to new lucrative countries and not only gain in terms of finance but taking the sport to new viewers For example, adding a round in the USA, South Africa, China, Qatar, UAE as well as possibly expanding with an additional new round at either say Wembley or the Olympic Stadium.... Could the GP series evolve where countries like Qatar etc. pay a fee to host a round? An expanded series hitting new territories should attract bigger interest from blue-chip companies, all I saw at the Cardiff GP was Monster, Monster, Monster plus whoever sponsors each country GP in Cardiffs case Adrian Flux. - There is scope I believe in the future to take Speedway to a new audience into some of the richest countries in the World who have the financial clout to support it even if its seen as a gimmick to bring something new to their own region. Any thoughts anyone?

    King's Lynn 2016

The sport desperately needs a governing body to put in place a rule set, a structure, and people who will work hard to make the sport survive long into the future - unfortunately its all about personal gain which has been the case since, well before I know when

    Future Of The Gp Series?

I agree with what everyone has said 100% However, do you think its more a case of the powers that be do not push it or even think out of the box? Granted, Speedway is not the most popular sport but some of these countries mentioned could potentially do it more for their own people than anything - Take Russia and USA there should be GP's there anyway but places like China/Qatar etc. its a well documented fact that in the sport of MMA the King of Jordan regularly hosted events for an event known as Cage Warriors - this was arguably one of the biggest MMA events in Europe (known well within the sport but not heard of to those not associated to the sport) - Its definately not the UFC Anyway, the King of Jordan actually had an arena built just for Cage Warriors and he would give away all the tickets to the people of Jordan - its called "Entertainment". IF some savvy people in charge of the SGP series were to unlock a couple of countries in this region it may well open up opportunities for bigger sponsorship from business within that region and business who want to be seen as a player in those regions.

    Track Covers

Not sure what any track covers look like but any that are issued in speedway need to attach themselves to the top of the fence and be angled downwards with any water to fall to run off onto the centre green - I just have this images of loads of covers laid flat on the track. Again if the "Sport" was marketed correctly and run properly in the first place then clubs could easily afford these or be supplied by the series organiser.
