LEICESTER TO STAGE WINTER AMATEUR MEETING SERIES …SIX ROUNDS ON SATURDAYS Leicester are to stage a winter amateur series with meetings on Saturdays from December to March to run alongside their Sunday training sessions. There will be six meetings in the series with classes for Open, Support , Novice, 125cc/ 150cc , 250 cc and Formula2 on 450cc machines that Pete Seaton will supply. All meetings must be booked in advance so that the race programme can be finalised before each event. Bookings are to be to :laurencerogers@blueyonder.co.uk or by text to 07801429304 . Bookings will be confirmed once received. The first meeting is a pre-Xmas one on Saturday 23rd December. Scoring in each section will be based on the number of entrants but unless there are more than 20 entries in any section the scoring system will be from 20 points for first downwards. If more than 20 entrants then the scoring will be based on the entry numbers. There will be qualifying races in each section with finals based on the number of entrants but with a Grand Final (A Final) in each section with trophies for the top 3 . At the end of the series trophies will be presented to the top three in each section. Entry for each meeting will be £40 per rider for the adult sections and £25 for the juniors . Free day licences will be available for those without an SCB licence. Helmet colours need to be worn for identification purposes for the meeting “referee” and organisers to ensure the scoring is closely monitored. There will be refreshments on sale and members of the public are allowed to attend with no charge made. think your counting is failing you Paul !! Naturally I know the figure of attendance and you are well off . As for advertising we have done a lot and doing even more ... kids for free is working and we are in several schools over next few weeks handing out fliers and special tickets. We got a full page in the local paper FRIDAY and have rider articles in this and the St Austell papers. we have an advert in the local magazine that goes out to 47000 homes and had a superb two page spread in this last month and another due next month. We have flier dropped local housing estates , been at local shows and a big motor cycle show last week, sponsored the grass track the other week . Posters with fixtures on are out all round the area . This week we have VIP visits from a local brownie troupe ..... so lots going on

GOOD NEWS …… SOUTHERN DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE APPROVED FOR 2017 SEASON Following much discussion the Southern Development League was approved by the SCB and will commence in April . The SDL is to be run on the same format as the highly successful Midland Development League, who also received the rubber stamping to proceed for the seventh season . There are potentially six sides who will contest the new league, which will run with four man 500cc sides over six heats home and away. Definite starters are Reading Racers (based at Eastbourne), Weymouth Wildcats (based at Plymouth), Exeter Falcons (based at Somerset), Kent Kestrels and Plymouth Demons. The sixth side awaiting confirmation are Iwade Crusaders . The new league will be administered by Plymouth co-promoter Laurence Rogers, who has been the co-ordinator of the MDL for several years. He commented, “ We have patiently awaited the approval from the SCB on this new league. Initially there were moves to change the race format but this was rejected by both the MDL and SDL members. With my new involvement at Plymouth the MDL is being co-ordinated by Nigel Hinchcliffe at Scunthorpe whilst I will oversee the new league.” “We are awaiting news from Iwade on their membership but will press ahead with the five teams we have confirmed and work Iwade into the fixtures if they are able to run in the league. I have a provisional fixture list drafted and we will release those dates once fully confirmed with all the clubs.” “Each team is naming a squad of up to six riders and the league looks to be a competitive one with some new names in the squads declared . The MDL has done a great job giving young riders track time and involving them in a team situation in a structured league and now we can start to mirror that in the SDL. If you look at riders in the three main leagues and see where they started there is a long list of young Brits who cut their teeth at MDL level”

Plymouth are starting to plan ahead and commencing training sessions with the first an open practice with limited numbers on Saturday March 25th from 1 till 4. The Devils main team will be present getting some vital laps in as well. Bookings for the practice can be made by e-mail to : laurence@plymouthdevils.co or laurencerogers@blueyonder.co.uk or by TEXT to 07801429304. You need to give name, age, cc bike and experience as riders will be graded into equal experience/ability groups to maximise track time for all riders. Cost will be £35 for this session . Day licences will be available. Looking further ahead the club will be running regular Saturday afternoon training commencing on Saturday May 6th . The club are building up and sorting some hire bikes as well for the sessions for newcomers to try the sport as there have been enquiries from a few moto-cross riders to try speedway. The costs for the sessions and hire bikes will be announced nearer the first session in May. Further planned dates are : May 20th; June 3rd; June 17th; August 5th; August 19th; September 2nd; September 16; September 30th.
