    Old speedway films

On Channel 82 Talking Pictures, if you press the red button it comes up with short films. Search for film " Stadium Thrills" This brings up 3 short films. The first is of the Wembly team at their training track. Observe the height of the "safety fence" ! 2nd is a speedway racing film including sidecars 3rd is cinder racing from Hackney Wick
  3. Hi, got the programme for 30th May 1993. Hope the scan works IMG.bmp

    Newcastle speedway

I agree with that sentiment, as he even bettered the first visit of Aussie Dave Shields. I think the team were given free meals at McDonalds as I have a picture of the team and the staff outside the shop on Northumberland street.

    Newcastle vs Glasgow 8/5/22 4pm??

Basso had to dig the hole with his foot before tha picture was taken
  6. Just like to congratulate both teams for providing an interesting match last night. It will certainly stick in the memory for all sorts of reasons. Also thank you to the young man who fixed the airfence as he had a big problem fixing the connectors to the panels.
  7. George Congreve has quoted that he has English born grandparents. Look on the net for the article.
  8. Was this the lowest crowd ever for the start of a new season ? It seems ironic that we seem to have more sponsors advertising at the track this season, and that could be the reason the car park was full. The track had dirt on but seemed to be left dry in case of rain which arrived at 7.15. This left it as an ideal gaters paradise and once in the lead just sit on the 1 line to win. Unfortunatley Diamonds are not the best gaters. I would like other peoples comments on the state of the 3rd bend as it seemed the bikes were hitting a hole there. The good point was that we started on time at 4.00.
  9. I must beg to differ with gmarsbar2. I was at the meeting, as I have been regularly for the last 45 years. Even if it is from the gate team riding comes into the excitement as would have been seen from heat 5. Clegg and Wright made the gate from Craig Cooks missed jump and blocked his every move for 4 laps. Connor Mountains heat 10 race. Ben Barkers outside moves in races. Please don't blame Newcastle for the starts, it makes a change to have a neutral referee. Professional riders and team manager should be able to sort out starts. If all Glasgow meetings are better than this I am pleased for you as you getting the best entertainment going. I and many others were expecting a good hiding from Glasgow especially as Craig Cook would get a 15 point max.On the day Newcastle wanted it and fought for it end of !
  10. Craig Cook was warned after heat 5 for moving as Barry announced to the crowd. That was after he had tried to jump and made a complete mess of it. Yes the referee held the tapes a long time, but he did that the whole meeting. I noticed your team manager was still berating the referee after the meeting. This was one of the best meetings ever at Newcastle. It takes two sides to make a meeting, Newcastle just outfought Glasgow. Adam Roynon might have been the star man but the whole TEAM were the Stars. Special mention to Connor Mountain for his race in heat 10 when Stevie Worrall bust a gut to try and pass him even though he had more speed. Stevie caught up with him after the race to shake his hand and have a few words. Could that have been Aaron Summers last race at Brough and why he was so pleased at the win ?
  11. Can I say a BIG thank you to all those spectators who turned up yesterday, especially those that made a long journey. This was a big ask especially with the weather forecast. Hope the Poole supporters have recovered from their frostbite being this far north lol
  12. Yes it is from my programme. Scan if you want .
