    Glasgow 2019 Onwards

When anyone can get a word in edgeways. Block the problems and the thread becomes reasonably sensible.
  2. Plymouth, Scunthorpe and Glasgow have all postponed their matches for this evening so the only match still on is at Armadale with the Monarchs hoping to clip the Eagles wings. Looking at a couple of weather forecasts shows that while they give very different answers they do agree that rain for prolonged periods is a probability! Now admittedly they are both Edinburgh forecasts and we all know Armadale can have very different weather, I do fear that the chances of any racing this evening is slim. Can anyone local let us know how the weather is at the moment? EDIT - Good news from the Monarchs website at 2.30pm they were working on the track and had not had any rain since 11am. Looks like we might get some racing tonight at Armadale.

    Introducing yourself....

    See the answers above.
  4. Teams according to the BSPA are as follows:- EDINBURGH: Sam Masters, James Sarjeant, Josh Pickering, Ricky Wells, Cameron Heeps, Connor Coles, William Lawson.EASTBOURNE: Nick Morris, Georgie Wood, Kyle Newman, Lewis Kerr, Richard Lawson, Alfie Bowtell, Jason Edwards.
  5. I was sorry to miss this evening at Smallbrook after my visit last week but the rail/ferry tickets were too costly for me. I have got the tickets for next Tuesday when Belle Vue are on the Island. Thanks for your texts to the Updates site which at least meant I was able to follow most of the meeting.

    Cook, Vissing and Kennett banned.

But that is Eastbourne not Arlington!

    Cook, Vissing and Kennett banned.

The management of both Ipswich and King's Lynn have both said that they were surprised to find out their riders would be under suspension for the events at Eastbourne! Shows how much attention they pay to the rest of the sport. I would have thought knowing what happens elsewhere is important information so that when your riders are unavailable due to injury or suspension you can contact the right replacements as quickly as possible and before others get them to ride against your team. It appears that the BSPA Chairman's team management do not have their fingers on the pulse and they are treated like mushrooms by the Chairman.
  8. The next meeting at Smallbrook Stadium this Thursday at 7pm sees the Fen Tigers from Mildenhall looking to improve on their nine point loss in the Trophy early in the season. Warriors will be fresh from their Silver Ski Four Team tournament win on Monday at Kent but will probably be without Danno Verge after his heat 14 crash with Adam Extance which saw both riders in need of attention and the meeting result called after 13 of the 16 heats had run. My best wishes to both Danno and Adam on a speedy recovery. It looks as though this Thursday should be a close encounter with both sides needing to add to their league points tally. For me personally, it will be my first meeting since Rye House closed and I wish to thank Barry Bishop for his encouragement which has raised my enthusiasm for the sport back to where it has been for over 60 years. The bad news for Barry is that this will be my first meeting as an over 65!

Mildenhall v IOW Sun 11th aug

With the meeting having finished over two hours ago the BSPA still don't have the result!
  10. The trouble with giving 10 or 12 day bans is that a club with two home meetings in that time can flood the track and the referee says it is not fit for racing so the rider does not in fact miss any meetings while another team may have four or five away meetings in that time which the rider has to miss. The bans should have been one/two/three home and one/two/three away matchs so that they all miss the same number of meetings.
  11. There were a number of very good battles during the evening but I agree that heat nine action was very good. For good entertainment all you need are two or more riders of similar standard who don't know when they are beaten.
  12. I used to use Facebook but one day got an obscene message from someone I did not know so I reported it to Facebook. They banned me as I had forwarded the message to them and they claimed that ,meant I had sent them an obscene message! They can shove Facebook where the sun doesn't shine as far as I am concerned these days.

Speedway Promotion or Lack of it.

My parents and I used to have a great day on some Bank Holiday Mondays. 11am Rayleigh Speedway followed by 2.30pm Rayleigh Stock Cars or PRI Bangers and then the dash back to Wimbledon for the 7.45pm Speedway. Progress is a total myth.
  14. I know that but autocorrect is stupid and very annoying!
  15. They failed to give the calm down medication out quickly enough!

    Educate me on Danny Ayres

Saw Danny at Isle of Wight last night, a six ride 18 point maximum with his race times over two seconds faster than anyone else. Even when he was well ahead of the rest he was still very spectacular to watch and in the last race of the match his battle with Ben Morley was very entertaining for the first lap but Ben was unable to really challenge after that.

Speedway Promotion or Lack of it.

It used to be called "Motorcycle Dirt Track Racing". No comments about needing some dirt on some tracks please!
  18. It is spelt Wirtzfeld according to last night's programme.
  19. Not a happy evening for the Warriors but we still saw some entertaining action. Given the weather all the riders put on a great show. I met a number of Mildenhall fans who enjoyed seeing their side claim four points but you could tell they would have been happier if Warriors had been at full strength. Thank you to Barry Bishop for encouraging me to get myself to the meeting, with his enthusiasm the Warriors deserve all the success possible and I am looking forward to seeing the Belle Vue Colts in twelve days time against a hopefully fitter Warriors side. Best wishes to Georgie, Danno and Scott, I hope they all recover soon from their injuries.
  20. I think everyone knows how hard you and team at Smallbrook work to provide a great evening. Very sorry that Danno and Georgie are injured but you are not to blame for that. I wish them both all the best and am still looking forward to seeing you and the racing tonight and for the Belle Vue meeting.

Speedway Promotion or Lack of it.

I already have my electric railway ticket and as a volunteer guard on the Mid Hants Railway I get very cheap travel on the Steam Railway.

Speedway Promotion or Lack of it.

That one fan is currently on the ferry as I am spending the day on the Steam Railway before enjoying the racing this evening. The Wightlink ferry has TV's all around it and I have just seen a very good advert for the Speedway, although I hope we don't have a crash like the one shown!

    POTTERS V LEICESTER KOC 3 / 8

No need to apologise, I can see exactly how you misunderstood the OP.

    POTTERS V LEICESTER KOC 3 / 8

The original post is talking about the MSDL match that was to take place after the main meeting. The track was still flooded after heat 15 and so the MDSL match did not start.
  25. I will try to find the air horn that the Rye House promotion gave out at the last televised meeting at Hoddesdon.
