    2024 bears season tickets

Hi - If you drop a email to jswales.redcarbears@gmail.com Jamie will be able to sort that out for you no problem at all. cheers Gavin
  2. We did not have a internal. Only breaks in proceedings were for track work and when riders had two on the trot. Redcar have a policy of no intervals after listening to what fans wanted last year.

100% and I really hope and pray that a rescue package can be found and a solution to the current problems

Major hurdle that all the previous ventures have faced in the last 10 years around the country is the noise sadly. Our wonderful sport that we love the smell and sound from is no longer 2021 compliant with the amount of new housing estates being built on every bit of land possible. With every new estate on the outskirts means none to very little chance of getting Speedway within 10 miles of them. This is where electric could well spell the future of our sport. Yes I know we love the noise but apart from Speedway fans ive not heard one person who loves to sit in their garden on a Friday or Sunday night listening to the soothing tones of the local Speedway.

The above all sound like really good ideas with fans trying to save a iconic club. My main issue ( for what its worth which is zero ) would be the getting out of Brough ASAP. It has to happen as for a long time now the racing at Newcastle has not been great as the bikes have got faster. Yes I remember Andre Compton and James Grieves blasting around the boards on the 3rd and 4th bend but those races are few and far between and the stigma that goes with the track certainly does not help the cause. My worry is that Speedway as a whole is no longer 2021 compliant and one of those is the noise level. You tell me when the last new track was opened ? Its nearly impossible because of housing estates spreading at a alarming rate meaning Betty does not want to hear annoying bikes while she sits out in her garden any longer. Sound travels far and wide on a evening and a new track within 20 miles of Newcastle would be a massive surprise to me if it could get past the noise brigade. I had a conversation only a few months back with one of the owners at Redcar and he even said that if they were to apply for permission now for the track which is on a motor sports complex he believed it would not get the go ahead. They get regular complaints from residents miles away but luckily because they have the licence they don't come to much. We all whinge about electric bikes etc and with no noise and no smell the sport would die. The problem is the way the sport is now is on a life support machine with no magic wand to recover at present. Yes riders wages and bike costs have grown way more than crowd levels which has caused a huge financial gulf. Yes the sport as some say is probably a £10 sport having to charge £18 to try and cover the difference between the above. Yes the shortage of riders and doubling up makes it a bit of a joke trying to explain it to the public. BUT the noise issues also will STOP 99% of new ventures ever getting past the first hurdle. I love this sport as a rider ( loose term ) as a Manager of Redcar Cubs but most importantly as a supporter for the last 49 years. I hate as much as anyone to see it struggling in so many places around the country. Yes at Redcar we are fortunate that crowds are up and we don't have huge rents to pay but Im a SPEEDWAY FAN and without clubs we won't have this wonderful sport of ours for that much longer in its present capacity.

Its much more than that to me and you who live a breath Speedway. Unfortunately its not to many that you speak to from outside the sport. The crowd levels tell us that people would rather spend money on other things now sadly. How many do you ask and remember Speedway from the past but no longer go. Fully agree and that's why my post was on Newcastle page that the sport no longer in its present state can survive in big high rented stadiums with the crowds being attracted. Problem is because of the noise issues getting a new track on a bit of land within 20 miles of a house is just about imposiible

No magic wand can make the sport year 2021 compliant anymore. Riders Wages are big to pay for the costs of bikes, a van, mechanic etc etc. Don't get me wrong I believe they are worth more than Premier League footballers but try telling that to your general public. The gulf between income from fans and expenditure on riders wages has risen to a non sustainable level. The sport IMO needs to go back to a part time one where you ride a couple of times a week and you have a job that fits around it. Then maybe we can build from the bottom and hopefully one day have a sport that could compete with Poland etc. Stadium rents against the size of crowds. Again the gulf has become non sustainable. If your owner isn't a wealthy businessman with tens of thousands per season to throw away you simply cant make it pay. The sport is a £10 sport. 15 minutes of entertainment over a 2 hour period. A family of 4 spending say £30-£40 is a good value night out. Spending £60 all of a sudden isn't value for money any longer. The bikes are loud and this stops any new tracks being opened. Soon as Betty hears the bikes in the distance sitting in her new Taylor Wimpey shoe box then the complaints roll in and the environmental people refuse permission. Maybe electric is the way to bring the sport back in to our towns and Cities ? I know the noise and smell are all part of us purists but not enough are coming through the turnstiles and this is why track after track are closing. I know Im involved with Redcar who are doing very well but as a Speedway fan of 49 years it saddens me to watch as club after club struggle and fold. I really do hope someone steps forward to take over at Newcastle, however unless they are a massive Speedway fan with money to lose then I cant see any sane person wanting to commit to a sport which in its present state cant survive in big high rented stadiums.

    Whats actually going on?

I heard that . I didn't buy my first bike until the age off 44 and spent thousands trying to make it to NL standard in a short space of time which maybe was a bit crazy. Unlike Ledworth I hadn't ever ridden before so was at a huge disadvantage. I got so close with a no 7 offered for a meeting at Stoke only to be rained off ( surprise surprise ) and at the end of 2019 I decided to sell my laydowns and concentrate on upright racing. With the only competitive upright stuff at Scunny, I had a bit of a fall out over the social distancing aspect etc last season so ended up racing against the laydowns at Redcar which I was well on the pace with on a 30 year old JAWA. So over the winter Ive purchased another laydown rolling chasis and at the ripe old age of 49 Im looking forward to racing at a amateur level next season and see what happens. For me the National League in a minority sport like Speedway should be purely amateur league with riders only being paid travelling expenses and maybe £5 a point as pocket money. If you have the ambition to make it in to the paid sport then like other motor sports you have to have the money behind you to make that dream a reality. If it did go back to this I believe it would become a good mix of older lads enjoying the sport which in turn could bring on the new lads and catapult them on to the next level.

    Newcastle 2020

Its all a very sad state of affairs and one I really don't want to get involved in for obvious reasons. Im still a Newcastle fan though and wish Rob the very best of luck. With the lease on the stadium only for next season and covid looking like it could well last well in to next year I do worry that for all the money and enthusism that Rob has shown it could all be in vain. Getting a new track in present times has proved nearly impossible for most as any houses within about a 15 mile radius will have someone ready to complain and get the planning stopped. Good luck to everyone involved in the future of Newcastle Speedway.

Fantastic news for the promotion and the club on getting the British Under 21 championship final. The work put in behind the scenes fully justifies the MPA as one of the best venues for such great events. Roll on March.

At present NJL rules are no one with a NDL average above 3 can ride and only one NDL rider per pair of 500cc at any one time. Don't forget NJL only has 2x 500cc riders where as MDL has 4. So say Archie hits the ground running and gains a 5 point NDL average by the end of the season. That is fine for this season ( as Leon Flint did a couple of seasons back ) as he started with only a 3 but next season he would be ineligible. Although I would have to double check with regards to NDL Trophy. If say Newcastle brought in Kieran Douglas to ride ( just a name who rode in NDL last season who didn't gain a 3 point average ) this would be fine to ride with Archie until he gained a NDL place then it would not be allowed ( as Berwick did last season when using Kieran Douglas and Harry McGurk who both had NDL team places. Only 1 of them rode at any one time). Hope that sort of makes sense. The NJL have their AGM at the beginning of February so any changes will be made public.

    Armadale Devils 2020

Its a crazy sport where you improve by more than 50% but it works against you. If you only improve a little bit you can normally find yourself a team spot. Ive tried to explain this to so many people who are not involved and they just can't get their heads around it. As you say S4S he could end up being a victim of his own success. I just wonder how much average manipulation actually goes on in all leagues towards the end of seasons ?

    Armadale Devils 2020

Josh Embleton can't be fitted back in on his 4.83 average at Leicester and would jump at the chance of a spot at Armadale. After his progression this season and his investment in equipment I believe it would be a great shout for both parties. He has rode all the NL tracks now and put over 2 1/2 points on his average.

As team manager of the cubs and second half organiser I tried every week to get Elliot to second half / race for the cubs. Sadly for one reason and another it just didn't happen often enough which was a huge shame as the kid himself was always very keen to race at the MPA. I personally think its a little early to be thinking about championship for him and hopefully a second solid season in the NDL will bring him up to a consistent standard to maybe take the step in 2021 or 22 Ell is a great kid, always prepared to listen and learn and with the right advice and guiidance Im sure he can make it in the sport.
