  1. I've recently came across some early 1970s Leicester programmes featuring second half races featuring Lions Hopefuls v Peterborough Stars.

I didn't know these existed or how many meetings involving the two clubs existed.

Does anyone know of any other clubs from the early 70s whereby Peterborough Stars rode in second half races besides Leicester?

Sorry, by your comment I thought you lived somewhere other than Europe / UK and I live in Canada. However the cost of postage from Canada is prohibitively expensive so sending you stuff from here is just not on.

Thanks for your correspondence. Are you able to.help with any programmes from my wants list?

The 2023 Prague, Gislaved, Riga and Gorican programmes are all for sale on eBay.

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately I had 2 bad experiences of buying GP programmes from Europe. On both occasions progs failed to turn up.

You’d be buying any equipment owned by “Peterborough speedway ltd” (lights, air fence, tractors? Etc) and the licence. Would a licence be the same value for any club regardless of circumstances?

Chapman doesn't want speedway at Peterborough, that's why he won't cooperate or sell. He wants Panthers supporters at Lynn next year.

    After consideration I won't be going even if it's a good line-up.

I just can't bring myself to line Buster's pockets one last time after the way he's treated us, I just don't like the bloke.

Whether we come to tapes next year or not, I have faith that this won't be the last time we see Panthers on track because we've got a team fighting for us behind the scenes and that team consists of a a group of people who actually love the club unlike Buster.

It's a shame the admission money is not going  towards the BEN Fund.Im sure people wouldn't object to that !

  7. That little speech that Chapman addressed to the speedway public doesn't sit well with me.

It's OK for him to say that the showground hierarchy have categorically said that there will be no more speedway at the showground, but surely the council will have the final say!

If they refuse planning permission then its a whole new ball game.

I think that you're right and that is something that we've got to argue against. AEPG will argue that the site is underused now that they've mugged everybody off and they never used the site to its full potential anyway. I'm sure that when the East of England Agricultural Society got in to bed with AEPG they didn't expect their legacy to be a toxic one, which is something different from that which the developer try to sell on their tin: "we leave a legacy of which all parties can be proud" - Peterborough City Council will never get over, be forgiven, or be proud getting rid of Peterborough Speedway from the city.

As for the rent though, because we're inconvenient, they've wrecked the EoES and don't want to offer any help, especially financial (ie subsidise a community facility) their strategy allegedly will be for a break even rent which is clearly ridiculous.

However, that does not get them out of their responsibilities under LP30. Hopefully PCC don't buy the guff that AEPG may have submitted to already (and we've yet to see I'm believe) to get them out of their responsibilities.

It's worrying that Butterfield is quoted as saying: “We are working with the Speedway fans and owners but we understand the disappointment that the speedway is moving from Peterborough.” - when nothing has been approved. Peterborough Speedway in not moving anywhere if the planning is rejected and PCC are not hoodwinked over LP30.

If by some miracle, planning application is refused and speedway is allowed to carry on. I can imagine AEPG will hike up the rent  for the track to a level whereby we can't afford it. I don't trust them an inch and if they don't get their own way, ie planning permission, then I imagine there will be some angry shareholders looking to blame speedway as the bad guys

Hope I'm wrong, but I think tomorrow maybe our last match.

The Kings Lynn match is meaningless and won't affect the final league positions. It  will also save Buster a shed load of money if it isn't run.

What are the speedway authorities going to do if its not ridden ? No good fining Peterborough as they will be defunct after tomorrow !

Just seen that. It's interesting that it says "The Showground land is set to be turned into a major housing and leisure development, with work set to begin next year" when they haven't got planning permission yet, that I'm are of anyway, as well as other similar local developments being refused or delayed due to supply chain and associated issues.

Just done a quick scan (it is late and I'm tired ;) )  of "The Design and Access Statement prepared by IDP Architects, Landscape Architects and Urban Designers which is said to be part of a suite of documents for two parallel planning applications to develop the East of England Showground" , and using the limit of my search skills, I can find that speedway gets 6 insignificant mentions in the document (two of which are labels for pictures). More interestingly is that although LP30 is shown on page 29 I don't think that they've grasped its significance or mentioned how the loss of an existing culture , leisure, tourism and community facility (ie Peterborough Speedway) is to be addressed because their application supposedly fails without that clarification and associated action. - I may just have missed it or read it wrong so if we can get someone brighter than me on the case :)

Good luck with removing the travellers. Hope they leave their mark !

I'm kind of thankful that i have been able to watch another 30+ years of speedway at Lynn.Had it not been for Buster we would have probably been long lost to speedway long before the likes of Coventry,Lakeside,Swindon and many more.Yes we have had some very poor sides but we have had speedway.

The speedway promoters need to come together as a collective and not just do what is in the best interests for their own clubs to sort the huge mess British speedway is in.They all have self interest, not just Buster as you would like it to be.

Promoters are only in for themselves, sod everybody else !
