    Newcastle 2020

I was hoping this was ab early April Fool but would appear not.

Totally agree and in this digital age when most things are viewed or done online, this is your shop window and yes it may improve over time but at a glance, if you were window shopping you would say NEXT!!! I love what Rob is doing but this looks like they have rushed to get it done and not consulted anyone who knows about web design.

Who the f**k designed that, horrible design and layout.

Might be useful if they post that on the website that they are designing a new one. I'm sure they could maintain an old and build a new one at the same time. It's not difficult.

Have I missed an announcement, where was the Gems team announced?

    Newcastle 2020

Any idea when we may start to hear rider announcements for the 90th meeting, Robbo's meeting Ben Fund etc are starting to name riders and those meetings are only a week prior to ours. Also, I wonder why Robbo didn't hold his meeting at Newcastle, it is after all where he started and ended his career.

    Newcastle 2020

Yeah but how will they cope with the tight turns at Brough. Very risky strategy by Newcastle, lots of unknowns in this team. Will Vissing maintain his starting average, doubt it. Wright is another unknown, not ridden in a while and how will he come back. Mountain is good signing, we know what we are getting from Wethers and Clegg, hopefully they can both kick on again next year. The fact we are 2 points under already puts pressure on the team to make up that difference. Team has potential but so did the 2019 team, positive is that we have a team for 2020, only time will tell if the gamble pays off.

Is one of them 3 the 'how did get him signing' as to me they are more like 'why the f**k did we sign him!!! Can't wait to be proven wrong, if neither of them are, I await the shock factor.

    Newcastle 2020

I don't think Nicki would ever come back, well not to ride, what about Bjarne, would he not be a better shout to try and tempt back. I know he is retiring but he is doing one last year and the last time he came back the place had a real buzz.

Couldn't agree more, what a signing and Gr8 to have him back in British Speedway, just a shame its not with the Diamonds.

Not that I was expecting him back but I see TJ has gone to Scunny.

Agree, we could get a Mike Ashley type.

    Redcar 2020

If that is the case and I think it will, I won't be returning in 2020.
  19. If we are at tapes in 2020 and based on our lineup this year, I would ditch the lot with the exception of Clegg, Ully and Wethers and start again. Worrall - shadow of the rider we know he is and can be, seems to not have recovered from the broken leg. Bjerre - was expecting big things from him but his heart just doesn't seem in it and never got over early season bike problems. Jorgensen - amazes me how he can score 5 for us one day and 12 for Kings Lynn the next, relies on his gating far too much, especially around Brough. Phillips - where do we start, actually let just not. I would take Steve back if we could team him up with his brother but highly umlikely. Replacements - Barker, no thanks, too much baggage, Garrity - yes but always seems to get injured. Alot will depend on budget and points limit, so your guess is as good as mine.
  20. Your probs right about Owen, as in Tom for the 70's and Joe the 80's, to be fair you could nominate quite a few for the 80's in my opinion, Emerson, Beaton, Blackadder, Bloxsome et al.
  21. So would anyone like to guess who each rider will be from each decade, if we have one from each decade, does that mean we will only have a 12 man field? My guesses are: 60 - already stated as Mauger 70 - no idea before my time 80 - Owen, but what about Hunter 90 - Interesting as I would say Bargh, but what about Pedersen (Nicki) or Thorpe 00 - Olsen or Pedersen 10 - Larsen, Bach, Worral or Robson
  22. I would hope so, but will they be quality riders or the best of a bad bunch as has been the case in previous years!! We already know 7 of the riders, I just hope the other 9 offer some quality. We wait and see, but see my comment below, probs won't make any difference to me as I probably won't be there due to other commitments on the revised date!!! My memory is fine, but my point is we had plenty of opportunities when we had no speedway on weekends when the meeting could have been staged or other meetings staged. I also not the line "This scenario just makes us more determined to put on something special later on in the season." My concern is that if the lineup is s***e, people will not bother especially if the weather is poor as it often is this time of year. I was able to make the original staging and the revised one but am struggling to make the new date, which kinda p****s me off. BUt you can't please everyone.
  23. I therefore assume that the meeting will be packed with riders who usually grace the GP's, SEC or Polish top divisions as if not, you ask the question, why was this meeting not staged during the summer when we had great weather and no fixtures?

    Bears v Diamond's KOCF

Why not, someone stated that if it was Monday Jake Allen or Ellis weren't available, how does that affect the Diamonds, plenty other riders Redcar can call up. Dogs meetings are not run on a Monday and I'm sure it is our alternative race night. So in the interest of getting this fixture run, why not run it tomorrow.

    Bears v Diamond's KOCF

How does that effect the Diamonds?? Must be allowed to run on a Monday otherwise why have it as our other optional race night!!
