    Promoters Conference

Point taken but just look back over the past 10-20 years and all clubs that have gone, now only 7 teams in premiership and 9 in championship is rather pathetic, take look on the terraces and see the age demographics, the sport doesn’t promote and attract young fans of the future. Sorry but you could hardly consider things to be going well and the people running the sport a success! Speedway is still in free fall and from what it appears the BSPL doesn’t have the acumen or capacity to stop it.

    Promoters Conference

Ok, but the depressing outcome from the weeks conference jolly nor what you have told me about Poland and especially Sweden will stop the reality of the desperate state uk speedway is in, i.e. doom & gloom…im a fan and not just having a go for the sake of it, the fact is the sport has been in serious crisis for a number of years, crowds plummeting and clubs going bust or closing down, incredibly the bunch of people lead by the chief clown Godfrey who is currently running the show are clearly incapable of turning it around. It’s very difficult to be happy or blindly optimistic about speedways future!

    Promoters Conference

Sure more details will come out but basically it’s underwhelming stuff and is more of the same rinse and repeat as we’ve had now for a few seasons. Clubs will inevitably loose money go bust and close again and sadly the sport will continue its slow demise. They’ve spent the best part of a week and imo come out with nothing really new innovative or exciting.

    Richie Worrall statement

Well let’s hope it’s the last we’ve seen of Worrall, he’s let himself down his clubs and fans down and the sport down. What a first class idiot.

Have they discussed changing helmet colours yet?

    Richie Worrall statement

Agreed, he’s clearly a proper numb nuts. No brain, thick as a brick and brought it all himself, for me he should be chucked out of speedway for good. Never liked him when he were at BV and wasn’t that good a rider. His brother btw is totally different.

    Wolverhampton 2025

Agreed, a long way to go and sure there will be many twists and turns to face but fingers crossed things will turn out well.

    Wolverhampton 2025

That’s potentially good news, let’s hope things progress well. I think Wolverhampton 2025 maybe a little optimistic as it took Gordon and Morton over 10 years to get our BV stadium built. I won’t mention Swindon!!

    2024

Yes doing ‘their amateur best’….has proved to be woefully inadequate. The current TV deal isn’t as lucrative as people may think. Sky pulled out of speedway because they couldn’t see a future and BT who’d show conker fights or arm wrestling rather than speedway also quickly pulled out. Major sponsors and media want and demand to be associated with success and the way speedways is ‘managed’ and it’s steady decline over recent years is hardly a sign of success. The only people to blame are the people who run the clubs and the sport as they have been asleep at the wheel and the truth is they’ve allowed the sport to dwindle into a non-entity that only a fool would invest in. Will things improve for 2024? I hope so, we will see what the AGM brings about but with Wolves and Peterborough out…Leicester and Kings Lynn and more clubs up for sale or financially close to ruin things are not looking very rosy.

    2024

Agreed, but the problems with British Speedway (and many other sports) are wide ranging and fairly complex and the time for radical change has sadly long gone. The opportunities missed due to poor management and navel gazing can not be changed with a silver bullet. I have little confidence that Phil Morris has the acumen or authority to make a significant difference. Back woodsman Godfrey clearly wants to bring down the sport down to his clubs level as frankly he hasn’t the capability or vision to raise the sports profile. Where do we go from here? Well we are past the point of no return and short of a miracle and an investment of many many millions of pounds I fear British speedway will continue to slowly spiral into oblivion.

    Peterborough Panthers 2023

No, not to save the TV deal, Chapman thought he’d make a lot of money. But he’s not a businessman he’s a chancer who couldn’t run a drinking competition in a brewery. He deserves zero credibility!

    Peterborough Panthers 2023

Well that’s one down and one to go to see the back of Chapman. And true to form the farewell meeting was apparently a big disappointment and let the loyal Panthers fans down treating them with arrogant contempt.
  13. Hand nothing to Lambert, it’s meaningless. I’m a Tigers and Aces fan but the real league champions are BV or ANY team that tops the table after a full seasons effort. Not the Micky Mouse play off farce. Teams should only be able to bring in a guest replacement who has raced all season in the league for an injured rider, not just a rider who couldn’t be bothered to ride in the UK. And you wonder why the sport if a joke. I don’t know how Kelvin keeps a straight face when explaining who’s who and who they really ride for.
  14. Creepy Joe you mean…what a 5* dick.
  15. Great effort and result by the Tigers a well deserved win. BUT I still feel the whole play off pantomime and ‘guest’ riders situation is farcical. I know thems the rules of the league competition BUT the true 2023 Champions are Belle Vue who dominated over the whole season from start to almost the end. This manufactured for TV end of season cash in climax featuring 3&4 placed teams and bringing in mercenary riders who could not be bothered to ride all season in the UK makes for a hollow victory and the sport as a joke.

    Peterborough Panthers 2023

Oh come on guys that’s a tad negative, there’s a wheely competition and face painting and lots of other circus attractions put on by the king of promoters the Clown Chapman…wishing him a fond farewell.££££
  17. I know Ipswich is in a farming area and it looks like the local farmer Giles has prepared the track with his plough! As a grand final it’s an embarrassing spectacle.
  18. That’s not a smile it’s a touch of wind. Joking apart we tigers are well positioned at 10 up but mustn’t be complacent as Peter A is a wily old fox and certainly knows how to win.
  19. What and miss his happy smiling face?
  20. It would certainly be ironic. I’m a Tigers and Aces fan but even I think it makes a joke of the sport. Not sure how Kelvin will explain it on TV to the casual viewer! But them’s are the rules.
  21. But we ain’t now! And the stadium and viewing ain’t to shabby!
  22. Im sure it took Gordon and Morton 9 or 10 years to get the BV stadium built and they didn’t get of to the best of starts. Yes it were a great achievement but the sport and economy were in a very different then. If Wolves can get a new stadium and track i don’t think its realistic that it will be up and running anytime soon.
  23. Great meeting but disappointed but well done Ippo. back home and looking forward to watch the recording. I’m off to see the Tigers v Wolves thursday so hope one of my teams will be in the final. One real irritating thing is the bv stadium announcement lady screeching like a mad person. Totally unnecessary.
  24. This will be tough ask for BV but it’s been done before. We need a good start four straight 5-1’s would do!

    Kings Lynn 2023

Very fair post and gives credit where it’s due. Im sure Mr Hoggart wasn’t entirely happy with the way things went but kept KL going when others shirked and ducked their responsibility.
