Yes I fully agree and that's where the revised 1 to 7 might just benefit because those heats are right at the business end unless you're getting a good thumping of course

I can't help feeling that the reserves are more of a worry than the second strings. Every title winning side have strong reserves.

Yes that's an interesting conundrum with no answer. Would Vic and Lunna combined have scored more points combined than Steve and Lambert ? Any thoughts . . .?

Weighing up all the options and comments here I think MacDonald would be the best shout. When you look over the years at how quickly young Aussies have come on then it is definitely worth the gamble as all of the candidates out there would be a risk. Aussies and New Zealanders seem to have speedway hard-wired into their DNA and I can recall seeing a very raw Jason Crump at Brough back in the day and thinking "theres one for the future." I suppose somebody thought Jason Doyle might be a gamble at some stage.

Well if this goes the way a few people have surmised then I think the Diamonds promotion are doing exactly the right thing. Weakish top end with a solid middle order hasn't exactly been a success in the recent past and with Danny Phillips at reserve I don't think that end of the team will be pulling up any trees either. Heats 13 and 15 are often crucial and I think the team will be more competetive with a solid top end.
