Favourite Rider and team you support favorite rider
johnyson66 posted a topic in Speedway News and Discussions
My all time favorite rider was the brilliant Kelly Moran of the USA, he was just magic on a speedway bike so smooth it was effortless, I would have picked K Carter but didn't for obvious reasons , my favorite Tiger or Bear is and I'm going to pick 2 because I can't split them Bruce Forrester is first just always remember thexactly red and white scarf tied round his neck and he was our no1 when I first started going , and then Mark Courtney just super smooth on the bike and made it look so easy, was going to pick Berie Collier or Budgie but didn't for obvious reasons -
Should have known you would have your 2 pence in , Woolley or Phillips is a no brainer , we will have Phillips you can have Woolley, you will soon be whinging about him , if you think Phillips is bad you ain't seen nothing with Woolley
-
Just done a bit of checking on Woolley and Phillips , last 10 home meetings for them both Woolley scored 14 +8 bonus points, Phillips scored 28 +9 bonus points , obviously your all experts on speedway then if you would prefer Woolley over Phillips ,

Sorry I was 0.77 out , I just looked through his last few home meetings for Newcastle and apart from the 2 against the Bears he didn't do to bad , but even a chimpanzee on a bike with stabilisers is better than Woolley
-
Yes he is , Tom Woolley might be a nice bloke but he is a poor championship rider , Phillips apart from the odd poor meeting scores 3 to 5 points on average per meeting it doesn't take much to be better than Woolley

Blah blah blah , Newcastle had every ounce of luck going in the 2nd meeting and still lost on aggregate by 8 points , live with it -
Wright and Riss are the key signings for next season for me ,

While I accept you've got a valid opinion, I just think we could have found a reserve who had some scope for more improvement, would you be happy to have the same top 6 next season and keep Woolley or would you rather we found another reserve with a bit more promise, haven't looked at the averages to see if that's possible by the way it's just a hypothetical question? -

He's had 2 paid wins in 19 meetings in the 2nd heat and 1 second place with Greaves in 3rd , and points are everything, doesn't matter what riders he's leading it's where he's finishing after 4 laps is the problem -
Big week ahead for the Bears, hopefully a good resultime v Leicester tonight then it's 3 meetings in 3 days next weekend, does anyone know if Lawson is guesting for MPT in all our remaining meetings or can he only guest once or twice

There's certain people on this site need to get a sense of humour

This isn't going to be on today , Forecast has it raining until tonight so at least Newcastle can still dream of winning the cup for a few more days

I said this season but like you said 12 point lead and still didn't win it , you know and I know that we've got better riders than you , and you can be as optimistic as you want you ain't going to overturn a 12 point deficit against us , you might win but the cups coming to Teeside

I think Smiths average was to high when we brought Riss in , might be wrong but I think we only had 2.0 points to play with so we were never going to get a world beater but there must have been riders out there who had a bit more potential than Woolley -

Just done some checking on Tom Woolley and scores he's had compared to rides and this is no disrespect to the bloke but I think we can all see that he hasnt come on as well as he maybe should have done , can't see him being here next season and think we need to look at bringing in a young rider who has potential to improve , Toms stats show where we have been suffering which has put a lot of pressure on Greaves , he's had 19 meetings taking 62 rides and scored 17 points with 8bp, I think that's the difference between a good side and being a top side , no disrespect to him and I wish him well but we need someone who has the scope for improvement -

Why not ? Leicester were going to use Lawson until the meeting was rained off then his average was to high to be used for the rearranged fixture but it worked out we could use him , funny rules I agree , could anyone image not using guests for injured riders speedway would die a death , it would be the team who had the least injuries who would win the league every year -

Team manager George English said , we have put ourselves in with a great chance of pulling the deficit back !! Johnyson said Newcastle United have more chance of winning the Premier league this season than Newcastle have of beating us by 12 or more today
