I was a member of the track staff at Rochdale. As soon as race was over Allan morrey would be on your back if all 4 bikes were not out on the track easy for the next race He would go around the pits chivvying the riders to get out ready to race. I never remember be late home. Meetings always 3ere finished within 2 hours

The commentary was by dick bott . Who was also Peter Collins manager and wrote for various national newspapers. That race was definitely the greatest race ever . I have followed belle vue for 65 years seen speedway all over the world . The other thing I remember about that night is my dad had his car stolen . We kept ringing the police to ask if they had found it but they kept saying no.. I had to go past Gorton police station and my dad's car was parked outside. The police were no better in the good old days.

This match reminds me of a Coventry v belle vue match in 1983. Coventry won 55 - 23 and we were told by Stuart bamforth before the match that belle vue would be trying to reduce their averages. Three weeks later in the league Cup final they drew 39 - 39. Friends of ours who followed by all over the country never went again after this.

I think the big difference this year is not having the Worralls in the team. Both are reasonable riders but if they missed the gate at the nss they would never pass anybody. This year they have 7 riders who can all ride the track and overtake.

I remember seeing him in the national fours at Wolverhampton. Every time he went into the first bend he knocked somebody off. There was a rumour that the other riders asked for him to be banned from the meeting.

First meeting I went to was belle vue v Wimbledon 5th April 1958 I was 3 . My dad took me who saw his first meeting at belle vue in 1931 . He watched belle vue until he died in 2015.

Where were the panthers fans last night ? I was in the South stand and there were only about 10 panthers fans , and before anybody says it's a long way to Manchester I live 260 miles from the nss.

I'm feeling much the same . Been to Eastbourne and Kent so far but not being able to move all around the stadiums is so restricting. Off to kings lynn tonight And hope its a good match.
