2?? This was only two seasons ago. Has Doyle ever scored 2 anywhere let alone a play off final? That’s why I always laugh at those predicting Holder will overtake Doyle here in the UK anytime soon. The Peterborough lad predicted Bewley would average more than Doyle last year and even bet money on it before he was left with egg on his face. I mean it’s gonna happen in time, there’s a big gap in ages, but some people seem desperate to see Doyle’s demise for some reason and it just ain’t happening anytime soon. I’ll take another bet with anyone that Doyle will finish top of the Aussie averages this coming season here in the UK. Any takers?

If it had been Doyle instead of Holder Sheffield would have had it in the bag after the first leg.

This signing of Robert Lambert narrative needs to stop. The reason that BV were crowned champions is not the fact that Robert was brought in for the final. The real reason is that Sheffield threw it away. They had their chances but wasted them, pure and simple.

What seems to have been forgot is Jack Holder scored 2 points in the first leg if he had managed 4 or 5 which he should have Sheffield would have won despite Lambert.

They haven't managed to attract Coventry and Cradley fans in any significant numbers over an extended period I don't see why this season will be any different

They might get some Wolves fans but if the team is losing every/most weeks that won't last long

Yes it would seem those that followed Coventry and Cradley have drifted away from the sport, would probably only return if their own clubs came back.

  4. Considering Birmingham appeared to be struggling crowd wise i thought it a strange move to move up into the premiership given the additional cost, at least it keeps another club going but will they see out the season? Those were my initial thoughts, Birmingham is a large city with a good catchment area and given the loss of Coventry, Cradley, and now sadly Wolves the opportunity is surely there to attract good crowds, so taking their time to put out an attractive team with a competetive top two is understandable. Good luck to Nigel Tolley i hope he pulls it off, i hope Birmingham turn out to be a sucsess story. Happy New Year to all forum members.

I don't think bringing in a guest is the main issue, it's being able to bring in riders that don't ride in the UK all season then when they've finished riding abroad they come back over here for a few meetings to boost their bank balance and their medal cupboard.  Robert Lambert now has winners medals 2 years running from different clubs and years down the line when looking at statistics it will make him look good even though he only played a very small part in those clubs.  The rules need sorting so that Lambert and others can't do the same again next year.

Yes i agree with you, but some rail against a side bringing in a guest then support it when their own club does it. We possibly lost two titles when we were unable to bring in a replacement for Bjerre against Coventry, and the same going against Peterborough without Kurtz. A side cant bring in a guest from another play off team and with our watered down league replacing the likes of a Fricke or Jack Holder is difficult, hence the mercenaries coming in when their Polish season has ended. A side does need to be able to replace their top rider and as there is no squad system its difficult. I wonder if the injured riders also get a medal? If i was Lambert for example i would give my medal to the rider i was replacing, he cant really look back on last season and this with much pride as he played no part at all in the seasons of BV and Sheffield. If Holder and Musielak had been available i think it would have been worse for Ipswich.

Friends of mine and other Ipswich fans have had to leave for fear of their own safety and couldn’t even go talk to the Ipswich riders to thank them for their season … lovely fans up there

Weve had abuse thrown at us all season, perhaps theyve got over last season now, and to think about all the hullabaloo when we brought in a guest for an injured number one. Wasnt a bad meeting considering the weather, as i said Ipswich would get turned over as they were carrying four passengers.

At least we know now for certain Lambert wont be riding in this country next season, he doesnt deserve a gold medal this season and he did not deserve one last season. As for saying the Ipswich riders were brainless and didnt mind ending up on the kart track, that says more about him than it does the Ipswich riders.

Lets hope hes made the Ipswich team talk for Hawkins that comment should fire them up.

  8. I dont think this is over, we were 22 points down after four heats in our second leg and took it to the last heat, Riss Rew and the witches reserves could find the going tough at Owlerton, Emil, Doyley, and King are going to need some backing. If reports Doyle is having check ups and could miss the second leg are true  that could be pivotal, hope hes ok. Sheffield will certainly be a far tougher proposition and could pull this back if unlike us they get off to a good start.

Harris isn't riding with any allegiance to any team, he is riding merely for himself although I am sure he will be more than pleased if he has helped that team to a win. Its that simple.

From  a view of a perspective new fan riding for Peterborough Glasgow, and then being used by both play off sides Ipswich in the semi and Sheffield in the final against Ipswich doesnt exactly mirror a serious sport, even though we are used to it. With all Man Utds injuries perhaps we could use Van Dyke as a guest for Martinez:)
