    Your 1st Meeting

Mine was probably Halifax, not sure how old I was probably between 6 and 8 years old.

    Salary Cap.

Good idea star lady but don't see how it would reduce the wage costs?

    Div 3 and a CL?

To be honest it was just a thought to throw into the pot and I am not convinced at myself especially with the 'rules' issue. Some of the 'stand alone' CL clubs have a different aims to the clubs running in the CL as a second team. Just wondered if it might be a possible solution to allow the stand allow clubs to increase their strength closer to the PL level.

This new section is for discussion about the future of out sport. Please keep to the topic subject, any off topic or general chit chat will be removed. This is not the place for discussion about who is riding for who. Let's try and avoid the discussion of ' My league is better than your league' it does not solve the problem.

    speedway. the future.

I just can not come up with any ideas at the moment. :? We have tried a few things e.g only 1+ gp riders and it sort of did not work. Not sure what else there is left.

who should go up and why

I really can not see Sheffield moving up. I could only really see Andre Compton and Andy Moore in the EL team. Think Sean would prefer to stay in the PL and the rest of the team would not be good enough apart from possibly Ricky at reserve. Any thoughts?
  7. How old are Dean Barker and David Norris? Loram (but it looks like he is backing out) Scott Nicholls Lee Richardson(if fit) David Howe Chris Harris Simon Stead Adam Shields….Opps his not English is he…lol Did I read somewhere that the next world cup could well be back in Britain? Giving the youngster a spin this time will prepare them for next year.

    Slovenian GP Result

1st: Leigh Adams 2nd:Nicki Pedersen 3rd: Scott Nicholls 4th:Tomasz Gollob Well I was not too far off! I did name 3 of the riders in the final and correctly predicated tricky would not be there Best GP for years.
  9. Gollob to win. Scotty to get in the Final along with Greg Hancock and Nicki Pedersen Tricky to make 4 flying starts but make a mistake in the semi-final and miss out getting to the final again.
  10. I would defiantly go for that idea. Agree we have go very little chance in making the final anyway so give the young guns a go. Do you think Mark all by himself is going to make BSI change their mind? I doubt it somehow. Quite agree that if Mark does not want to ride which is very understandable after the injuries this year then he should withdraw. Mark is the captain (or senior rider) and the young guns look up to him. It is not exactly confidence-boosting material to the younger, less experienced riders, that your captain is not riding because of the 5 rider meetings. A captains / managers / Senior riders role is to encourage and support the young riders. Do you think he should have given his reasons to middlo and the BSI in private and then gone public after the event?

who should go up and why

But dosen't the PL make more proffit? Why would a promoter want to move up? At the end of the day it does not matter how good or bad the EL or PL or CL are, they all have faults. I agree with CVS with the 3 tier structure and the EL needing 12 Teams. I thought that the main problem is because of the huge difference in costs between the two leagues. Neil Machin was taken on to the BSPA committee this year and was tasked to look at the costs. (Forgot what the actual wording was.) Question is are the top EL riders willing to take a pay cut? And could this be enforced legally anyway? What other ideas have people got to sort the costs out. I am not in favour of handouts to get PL teams to move up as is does not solve the problem.
  12. I saw False dawn and some one called Phil who was asked to autographs a women's bare back (think I have a photo of that somewhere)

  14. Benfield Sports International (BSI) rights holders of the world championship FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series (SGP) announced today a new four year contract with Millennium Stadium Plc to host the FIM British Speedway Grand Prix until 2006 (inclusive). The new agreement guarantees four British Grands Prix - including this Saturday's (14 June) FIM Fiat Vans British Speedway Grand Prix - will be staged at Britain's number one sporting venue. Commenting on the deal, John Postlethwaite, Chief Executive, Benfield Sports International, said: "The FIM British Speedway Grand Prix at the Millennium Stadium is our flagship event and sets the standard for all our other Grands Prix. We are delighted to have finally agreed this new contract and look forward to continuing the great relationship we have with the Stadium and also the City of Cardiff, who have always welcomed us, and our international supporters, with open arms since we originally moved the event to the Millennium Stadium back in 2000. Postlethwaite concludes: "I have always said that we are here for the long term at Cardiff and not as a matter of convenience and this is proof of our intention." Paul Sergeant, General Manager, Millennium Stadium commented: "It's a fantastic boost for both the stadium and the city that we have secured a world championship sporting event for another three years. The agreement also reinforces our commitment to attract and hold international sporting events at Britain's number one sporting stadium. "The FIM Speedway Grand Prix is one of our most prestigious and exciting events. The crowd has grown each successive year and with the transformation of the stadium it brings its own totally unique atmosphere that almost lifts the Stadium's roof!" Tickets are still on sale for this Saturday's event and will also be available on the day from the Millennium Stadium Ticket Office, Tel: 08705 582 582

  20. Ermm Just hold a minute, I said they were £7.99 each! on ebay this does not mean they ARE £7.99 each. I was hoping someone 'in the known' would known... and post on here. I would and have paid £5 but I am not paying £8! :x Anyone got a nice colour score chart I can use to print out :?: Hey I could print them out on card and sell them for £1 each.
  21. Thanks Shalewhale that looks like it will be a great help.
  22. For the past 2 years I have managed to get a bus from Cardiff to Rumney but last year they closed all the roads in the city centre straight after the GP so you have to work about 10 minutes to the other side of the city to catch the bus. Thankfully a kind local fan showed us the way from the central bus station to where we can get the bus but knowing my luck they will go straight to the bus stop and not got to the central bus station this year. So does anyone know the road where you can catch the bus to Rumney?
  23. What stupid time to have it on! Hardly going to attract any new viewers at the time of the day.
  24. Suerly you must have been sent some free tickets by now after writing the above.

    Who????

For some unknown reason it is supposed to be a secret and not advertised, last year I think it leaked out about 3 days before. I am sure it will not be long before we know. Any ideas who it is then Steve Shovlar?
