You don't need a sky or bt box?  You just need a smart tv or device (e.g. fire stick) to download the Discovery Plus app and you can watch on your tv.

It would be cheaper to buy the annual pass - especially as it's half price at the moment.

Thanks for the heads up . Yes that is definitely a better deal at the moment! I didn't mind the prospect of paying 6.99 as paid more for the monthly roller bt sport subscription.

Poole fans need to get involved with any "Local Plan" . The stadium needs to be (& seen as) a benefit to the community not just speedway once a week 8 months of the year. Its current use as a car park is probably seen as its biggest asset locally. There must be 20 different things that could operate & benefit the community from the stadium. I'm sure this will be the only way speedway @ Poole & in the U.K. will survive long term.

That I believe unfortunately is out of Poole Speedway's control as they are not the primary lease holder's. For that to happen things would have to change hands . Agree there could be so much more use of the stadium with right people over seeing it.

  3. I have just submitted this . Please make your voices heard .

I agree that Poole needs to be regenerated as I feel the town has fallen by the wayside in some areas, such as the bus station & High Street. However, I am extremely concerned about the future of Poole Speedway and Poole Stadium in your Local Plan .

The Poole Pirates have been a popular sporting attraction to the town since the 1940's. They are an extremely successful club who have won multiple trophies over the years and the sport is extremely popular in the County and further afield, attracting fans from around the UK to the area to spend their holidays whilst watching the sport.

Speedway is very much a family sport. Many of my family members have enjoyed the racing since the Pirates inception, which has been passed down. As an avid fan of the club and the sport as a whole, I sincerely believe any notion to remove Poole Stadium as a sporting venue, resulting in the club folding and thus removing an entertainment facility which the town lacks, would be a serious detrimental negative impact to your Local Plan and the local community.

I would like to also take the opportunity to remind you that Poole Stadium was left as a gift to the people of Poole by the Lord & Lady Wimborne to be used as a sporting venue.

Therefore, it is my opinion that the venue should be exempt from redevelopment for anything other than to improve the current facilities.

    Kind Regards,

    Jason C

  4. Apologies if this is a duplicate thread.

As some of you may be aware, the land on which Poole Stadium stands has been ear marked for future redevelopment in the BCP Councils Local Plan to regenerate the town and surrounding areas.

Now is the chance until March 7th for people to have their say on the notion. If any of you could please spare 5/10 minutes of your time & make your voices heard in support of the club and speedway as a sport in helping to preserve the stadiums status as a sporting venue it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Well I was way out on that one with my Kennedy prediction.

Been looking up his results on Speedway News.PL and he seems to have been doing ok to start with in Czech but has picked up well since season start in both Czech & more recently in a 2 meeting weekend in France.

Not as good as Kvech (maybe) but at 25/26 hew is still young and his results are encouraging incl plenty of double figure scores.

Looks like he could do a job in lower part of the team IF he takes to our more technical & smaller UK tracks. As always that's the big question. Has had plenty of meetings since April so hopefully can hit the ground running.

I also have looked him up and saw that he has beaten the likes of Ellis & Berge over in France. That sounds encouraging, but as you say it is totally different over here. Fingers crossed!

Were so successful. They are in the 2nd tier of British speedway now.

Which means absolutely nothing due to the standard of both leagues being relatively the same & the fact Poole decided to step down after sitting top of the league in 2019

Nope the national championship was over three rounds, the last being at Auburn in Seltember.   Last weekend meeting was  NOT the National championship - it was for determining the two riders who will get places in the GP qualifying rounds.

    Details here: https://www.speedwaybikes.com/res2019_w/FastFridays-20190921.htm

Interesting, thanks for the link. Speedway gp website has conflicting information then it seems?

Tai often 'moans' if you can call it that about the travelling, you go and tell him he is in the wrong job! And video it so I can see his reaction! :D

He's paid very well nowadays to not have to travel I imagine, but will manage to have a moan somewhere.  Money is what it comes down to, if it is worth there while, it fits with other commitments etc then a rider will travel.
