EXTRA EXTRA The Brummies put both reserves in heat 15 of a meaningless challenge match SHOCK HORROR PROBE Non attending speedway fans predict this is the end of the sport as we know it! As a non attending fan I am shocked and offended on behalf of the supporters who attended and forked out their hard earned cash. Kev. -
Odds On North & South Pl 2013?
brum_57 replied to greyhoundp's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not this old chestnut again! I was reading an old copy of Speedway Star the other day in which a certain promoter was forecasting doom and gloom for Britain's second tier of speedway unless it adopted a north south league structure. The year was 1969 and the promoter - Mike Parker! Kev. Yes - it was a VERY old copy -

The following is a posting I made on the brummies forum a while ago, it was tongue in cheek, (and still is) but hmmm I wonder lol I'm beginning to think this is one big con by the bspa to get PL teams to move up, consider these points - 1 invite brum - ok thank you very much we'll join 2 cov and pboro throw their toys out their prams - EL in crisis 3 bspa send begging message to KL to come up and help save the EL - KL say- ok we don't wan't to move up really but if it helps save the EL we'll do it 4 cov and pboro say - ok we were only joking we'll run next year 5 bingo! nice expanded EL for next season Kev. -
rmc - good point but i think you will find that the virgin fibre optic cable network has a far greater capacity and bandwith than a few sats in geo stationary orbit - like I said virgin need to get things sorted. Kev.

for once you can't blaim Sky for this, virgin media have the red button facility for BBC events so why not Sky sports which is as we know a premium pay service. Virgin need to get their act together in particular the lack of decent HD channels. Kev.

Alan Hunt Trophy, Perry Barr 18-03-09
brum_57 replied to Pirio Barre's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Pirio makes some good points, I'm not a great fan of Indiviual events myself, indeed at the old Perry Barr the second city trophy was the one fixture I used to give a miss and spend my hard earned down the pub instead. I wouldn't say that the brum promotion are outdated having the Whacker trophy as a season opener, the fans are gagging for speedway after the winters break, so there is no better time to slip in a indi meeting which gives the team a chance to blow away the winter cobwebs and also gives any newcomers the chance of a runout against some decent opposition. I'm not sure having an opener against lesser opposition is a good idea myself as I have already said, I'm sure any newcomers to the team would appretiate a run out against a bit of class rather than a bunch of trundlers and winning by huge amounts is not what it's about in my opinion. Having said that, give me team racing anytime Kev. -
I asked Big Arth to sign my programme after a meeting, he was only a second halfer at the time and wore the most disgustingly coloured leathers you could imagine, as he signed, the pen hit one of the staples, "trust me to find a bump" said Big Arth. BRING BACK THE BRUMMIES.
