  1. I thought it would be a good way of keeping on track with venue records, If I were to post them and ask you all from your tracks to check the record / date / holder, and update it as you would update the "confirmed signings" topic before the season starts!!! I'll keep it up to date when a track record is broken and if someone notifies me about it in reply!!!! Cheers in advance ELITE LEAGUE Belle Vue - National Speedway Stadium: Track Length (m) TBC, Record set xx.xx by TBC on xx xxx xx. Track Records

Yes, it's my intention to get this as much up to date as I can! It's not that easy as some clubs don't have the data on their website (and of course I rely sometimes on friendly users to offer historical data!)

    Edinburgh 2016

Feel 4 ya, my ar$e... this is the first change that Edinburgh have made based on form in nearly 3yrs...I'd say were one of the more tolerable promotions in the current era... Workington have been known for team changing when riders have been scoring more points than what Jye has so be prepared for a visit from Carlisle Glass if you want to start hurling those pebbles... Indeed... Good luck Jye and thanks for your efforts...

Fingers crossed for all Devils supporters and riders that it can be saved at the last minute... Sad times:(

    Track Records

Ok, think I've finally got this up to date as much as I can find or as much as some of the teams websites allow... Can't believe it's so difficult on some teams sites to find this information and on some, it's not even listed!!!! Anyway, if you find a glaringly obvious mistake, please feel free to let me know and I'll try now and keep on top of them when a record is broken...

    Edinburgh 2016

Whereas what you should be having sleepless nights about is how to finally get through a meeting at Derwent Park with speedway bikes doing more laps than the tractors...
  9. Surprised no-one has mentioned Tungate at Scunny last year on - I think Josh Auty? That to me is the definition of dirty riding - there's no doubt his move to take a fellow professional off was intentional and was rightly banned for his actions. As an aside, didn't Jason Doyle get thrown out of a meeting at Somerset for attacking (I think Tom P Madsen) when he was lying on the track?

    Edinburgh 2016

Two great openers for both clubs... I've said on a number of occasions that speedway should have an "FA Cup" style tournament throughout the season which involves all the teams from all 3 divisions... If - for example, Stoke were to draw Belle Vue, then the lower division club would automatically race at home... with maybe a proportion of the probable increased gate going to the higher league club to offset the fact of not having a home leg.

    Edinburgh 2016

Agreed, back in the day when speedway was based 90% skill, 10% speed... However, I don't see which one of Glasgow's string quartet fit into the Owen/Hunter/Beaton/Emerson mould...

    Edinburgh 2016

Newcastle look solid as do Workington depending on who their last man is... However, Ipswich and Glasgow don't look so strong...Glasgow are far too top heavy of which I'm struggling to see which one of them (possibly Worrall exempt) will increase their average... None of the other 3 look likely to give any sort of consistent back-up. I'd be surprised if this is the septet that finish the season... Ipswich look about as interesting as an evening with Nicola Sturgeon... On paper they look ok, but it's not won on paper... To me, the best team so far that's completed look to be Sheffield if they can steer clear of the dreaded injuries... As for Edinburgh... last two seasons are always going to be hard to follow after losing our talisman and high scoring second string... However I trust the management to at least pull one surprise out of the last remaining places and we'll be there or thereabouts at the business end of the season. Could THJ be our 3pointer - if we used his Armadale average????

    Workington 2016

It's funny how people just look at one rider's past performances and base his future on them without seeing the bigger picture... Signing Campton (who I don't think is a bad rider at all on an average he should maintain) means Workington start with who should be one of the best reserves in the league in Adam Roynon. If - and it's a big if, he can steer clear of injury, then I'd expect him to exchange places fairly soon with Campton in the top part of the team and that keeps Workington with one exceptionally strong reserve throughout - something we know is pivotal to being right in there at the business end of the season.

    Rye House 2016

In truth then, this is surely a masterstroke signing as if gating is his only ace, Rye will suit him down to the ground...

    Glasgow 2016

He must've thought it safe enough now to sign considering he wouldn't be having to face Cookie several times in the season...
  19. Surely it could get to the point that the top 8 qualify automatically, 1 wild card per round leaves 7 positions available... 1 position should go to the U21 World Champion leaving 6 places... These 6 places should come from the Qualifier - However, I think the SGP Qualifier should be held after the SGP is completed and should contain those that were outside of the top 8 in the SGP series. Therefore the likes of AJ / MJJ / THJ etc. etc., would need to re-qualify through the SGP Qualifier. There should be no Wild card picks from BSI as it makes a mockery of the sport - best friends of friends, good sponsors linked to BSI etc. etc. The qualifiers for the SGP qualifier can be held accordingly throughout the year but at least you'll be there on merit through potentially the toughest meeting of the season... It may mean that it will be a 20 or 24 strong field, but when you're competing for 6 places, it'll be worth it.
  20. Strange, didn't think there was a Harkness anyway so you've got your wish already!!!
  21. Would've agreed if the Weegies had left Morris at 4, but think now that he's up against Palovaara, keeping the Cook/Sedgmen partnership may be the better option.
  22. Of course, because forums are only for the serious more intelligent folks, right? Next you'll be telling us half of what was written was politically incorrect and he's being reported to Brussels to appear in front of the court of Human rights for actually having a sense of humour...

    As It Stands

Agreed in the Team table... Edinburgh should be +25 Ipswich should be +2 and also Berwick should be -7
  24. I predicted defeats at both Rye and Peterborough for the Monarchs and was firmly and happily proven wrong. However, tonight is a different kettle of fish altogether... Cookie, Sedge and the Kaiser will hold their own and keep the score respectable, but whereas our tail escaped at Peterborough due to their indifferent reserves, I fully expect Starke to clean up at Somerset from reserve and Greenwood to pick up a few points to swing the tie comfortably in Somerset's favour. This meeting will be won mainly at reserve. As long as we're not disgraced, a point would be a superb result, any more would have us believing Somerset are dropping their averages lol! I'd go though for somewhere around 53-40 unfortunately...

    Premier League 4's

STOP PRESS... Edinburgh make late 7 day temporary signing of 3 times world champion Nicki Pedersen to replace Sam Masters... He'll come in with the aim of replacing injured Sam Masters in the 4's to ensure victory for the Scottish outfit... A spokesman said: It's fine, we know he's not ridden for the club, but he did ride at Armadale a few years ago for Newcastle, so he's eligible to be included in the team and even though he's not raced enough matches this season for the club, he has viewed the website every day!!!! #FarcicalFours...
