    Sheffield again!
  1. Another cracking post Mr Clemens, captured the true spirit of the evening. Had a great time and it was brill the see the old boys really going for it! My drive there and back wasn't the easiest - fog's great but I'm glad I did it.
  2. Brilliant post Mr C, almost had me back in tears again. Didn't get chance to come on here before the meeting so missed the perfect opportunity to meet other forum members! Never mind. Glad to hear that Richard Hall and Moggo are both pretty much ok, both of them could have been much worse off, but let's not dwell on that. Truely amazing final race, and as others have mentioned, worth the entrance fee alone. I'm a season ticket holder at Sheffield, but this is one meeting i didn't mind having to pay for. All the best for Garry, hope it gave you a boost to get through the next months and congratulations to Lee Complin on a fantastic win

    Plrc - Line Up

Weather is now stunning! You'd think it was summer Blue sky with white fluffy clouds (occasional greyish one but nothing to worry about) and the road outside our house is drying out Abandoning my Sheffield loyalties tonight I'm afraid, I'll be there with Kev Doolan's fiance so I don't really have a choice! Have always thought he'd be in the thick of it anyway. Mark Lemon will probably do his usual job of giong through the card quite quietly and unspectacularly and end up in at least the semi. Andre didn't look totally convincing on thursday but then the track was pretty rubbish too (sorry track staff, but you only have to look at the times to see what I mean - hopefully there's a reasonable explanation, I think I heard someone say the waterer had broken, so that might be it.) I'm going to go with quite a few people and say that if Andre isn't totally fit then I think it's prpbably wide open. Just thought, Garry Stead pulled out of the Cumberland Classic last night with a wrist injury, anyone know if he's riding today or not?

It is actually raining at the moment, in fact it's just started to chuck it down! It's going from just being in the air to as it is now! The BBC weather website seems to think that the band of rain should have passed Sheffield by 1pm, so I'm pretty confident that it will be on. Those of us who have been to recent matches have also witnessed the amazing job that the track staff have done to create a competative track when we've had a torrential downpour at 3pm! So I say, don't be put off, get yourselves to Sheffield to cheer on your boys! I believe it'll cost £14 to get in (as Paulco) suggested, but expect an extra charge of £2/£2.50 for a programme.

Think this should be a good meeting, not sure why so few people are tipping Doolan for the final, I'm more than hopeful he'll be there. Anyway, we were hoping to do a collection for Adam Allott at this meeting (for those of you that don't know, Adam crashed at Scunthorpe a few weeks ago and suffered a crushed vertbrae and a shattered elbow) unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, it's not possible. However, if anyone would like to donate (and I know at Stoke and Kings Lynn many of you have) the please PM me and I'll tell you where I'll be! Thanks
  6. Bad luck to Tom Hedley who rode really well in this meeting and has now unfortunately broken his elbow not really what he needed when trying to get himself noticed. All the best for a quick recovery.

    Usa Dream Team Website

It would be where the USA Dream Team Update thread ended up as well, took me ages to find it! No, not more photos from the farewell night - more incriminating evidence
  8. All those who decided not to bother turning up missed a cracking nights entertainment. We keep complaining that we don't have a british world champ etc, but if you don't come to watch them at the beginning of their careers, when do you? Young riders need all the support they can get, they aren't all as lucky as Josh has been. (not picking on Josh, he's just one that springs to mind that's been very fortunate with sponsership etc) Anyway, fantastic final race, Mark unlucky to go for the wide line and end up in the fence, all is good with him though - apart from a slightly bent bike! The top 6 all deserved to be in the final, 1st Josh Auty, was just Josh, but does need to remember that there is an outside line, it cost him a 1st place in one of his heats (not that it really mattered!). 2nd Mark Thompson, unlucky not to win overall after not being beaten by another rider all night, 3rd Tom Hedley, had never heard of him until tonight, looks a decent prospect although possibly a little wild at times! 4th Mark Jones, unlucky, got better and better as the night went on, remember he'd never even seen Sheffield until he turned up yesterday! 5th Dave Speight, best result he's ever had in an individual, has really turned up the pace this year. He was determined to have gate 1 for the semi so we didn't argue! (Personal opinion - should have taken 2 or 3 and gone for a slightly wider line! Never mind ) 6th Mike Pickering, solid as he usually appears to be in the 2nd halves, got on with the job and earned himself a place in the semi. Tai came off in heat 2 and took a knock of some sort i think, he had another ride, but then withdrew, he seemed ok later so I don't think it's anything to worry about. I do agree that he's definitely one for the future. That's my round-up, I didn't realise no-one was doing updates or i'd have done them myself, never mind.
  9. Really want to come to this, it's my dad's birthday too, might have to see if they can cope without me at work on sat night

    Aussie U-21 Championship

Well at least Cam made it to the final, however if he fell off under his own steam, I shall crack him one when he gets back here! I can't remember exactly, but I have a feeling that was his last chance - so never mind Cam, just get back over here, ready and available for this year's season!

Australian 500cc Solo Championship Rd 1

Leigh Adams, Cam Woodward, Jason Lyons are but three that are from Mildura, whether they were born there is another matter, but it's a good guess that at least one of them was!

    Australian Championship Qualifyer

OK! Slight panic on not seeing Kev Doolan's name in the list of qualifiers, went speedily to the Gillman speedway website to thankfully discover that he's been given one of the 10 seeded places due to the fact that the polish guy can't come. Sorry to him, but phew for Kev! Got a bit worried there! Well done to Cam, looks like the injury's is sorted!

    Was It Right:s

I wasn't there, and didn't see it on Sky, but, of course it was right! And I agree with many of you, put it on later so more people get to see them ride and more heats! We're always moaning about how the British youngsters get ignored, so let's put them in the limelight, just like they were at the GP, well done Peter Oakes (it's not the first time you've done something I respect you for!)
