Belle Vue beat Bradford 49-29 in 1986!
-
It doesn't have to be tea or coffee Steve, with the temperatures at Iwade something a little stronger might be better anyway.
-
I make it one more letter than you Ian2, but the last one was an "e" which didn't look quite right when written down anyway. I hope that hasn't given too much away.
-
How do you spell Knutson in as in Bjorn. Correctly?
KevH replied to jblanch69's topic in Years Gone By
Bjorn Knutsson - is that correct? -
No worries Lioness, I'll put your bad temper down to the drink (I know you lot like the odd tipple ) :clown
-
I stand corrected (again) Lioness.
-
Don't worry Ian2 seems to know the answer, anyway if I'm still living I'll post the answer on Friday.

I remember reading magazines under the bedclothes by torchlight too. Probably explains why I never felt the need to buy a tent. :clown My bet is your magazines were glossier than the Speedway Mail though LT? :clown

They say the cream always rises to the top - and Speedway Star is still with us - that should mean something. Having said that I do remember reading the Mail under the bed clothes as a kid with a torch and a good read it was too.

Typical Scot  :clown

It's good to see a bit of interest developing in this thread - no-one's correct yet, but I can tell you it's not a common name.

I was also at the three World Finals Midnight Lady went to, as well as a European Final around that time, and like ML can still picture walking up Wembley Way towards the towers. Wembley always had something very special about it. Even if you walked into the stadium when it was empty it had atmosphere! The greenness of the grass always amazed me and the twin towers symbolised the "stadium of legends." It's a truely sad day in the history of not only speedway, but sport in this country and worldwide too. It's a crying shame the towers couldn't be preserved in some way (after all the Yanks bought London Bridge and had it shipped over there a few years ago). Wembley Stadium RIP - and thanks for the memories.

Thanks for keeping quiet on this one Ian. OK CH you have a few more days. Anyone else want to have a guess (or does anyone actually know)?
-
Ooooh Mama Mia.

Honey asks - how can an old Abba hit hurt him?
-
It was probably called an 'inn' back in those days. Plenty of space to tie up the horse outside Shazzy, do you wanna team up against this honey bloke?

I'm sure after buying nine - yes nine - tickets to Stansted which were all rendered worthless with no refund or transfer available Papa would have said something much stronger than that! -

Top of St Martins hill opposite where Nobby Tilbury used to live in Querns Road. Old Crusader Jake Rennison used to be Landlord some time ago. St Martins Hill is on the road to Sandwich as you go out of the City past the old Crown Court and Prison. Yep. I know it - I used to drink in there during my college days would you believe.

I know I asked this before but hoping to get better luck this time Has anyone got any Division Two results from those years which they could post on here or email to me please. I have the Sheffield results thanks to Andrew, but would appreciate any others - Don't worry if you only have a few, they'd still be appreciated. Cheers all.

Sincere thanks to everyone for their help - and particular thanks to Peter - Cheers Mates.
