Hancock class act. Love to see him in British league racing again.
-
Strong final line-up!!! Should be very interesting. Here's hoping the Brit boys can grab a medal. Interesting point about the ref .....should be a neutral for the final
-
Terrible decision. Jim Lawrence making himself known on TV. Pathetic!!! Hard but fair riding. Just about robbed Sweden.

British Final 2014
speedway_dan replied to Julie Browne's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
The major events in british speedway simply have to be on a weekend to get the full backing form the fans. I believe a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon slot should be reserved for the british final on a track that can accommodate weekend racing. Sod the other leagues if you ride on a british speedway licence this should take priority. If it is to regain any of it's credibility it had in the past when it was a hard fought meeting, it needs to have real emphasis. GP Wildcard slot should be reserved for the highest non GP finisher and a major sponsor backed prize presented to the winner would give the riders something to really go for. But it would need serious promoting to achieve its cult status again. -
Need a fast grippy track now to really see this team in full flight.

If Compton is being considered I think sheffield will be missing a trick by not allowing him to start the season at reserve. He could be an early season trump card covering heats 2, 8 and 14. In return it would really take the pressure of somebody like koppe along side him.

Compton at reserve would be tempting - otherwise I'd be going for for different riders and a fresher approach after the impressive start to team building.

Sheffield V Scunthorpe 22/8/13
speedway_dan replied to tigerowl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'd be looking at making a signing if I had one meeting left. Never mind five. Don't understand people's mentality when they say what's the point. Sheffield asset base isn't exactly healthy for a start. So for me I'd be out looking at replacements with a few to the 2014 and beyond. If you take your eye of the ball you get left behind. It's been a drastically unlucky season for my local club but running with a patched up team for what's been half the season when others have made signings seems very confusing if anything to me. -
I'd be at Berwick sat if I was the sheffield promotion - scouting the under 21s and looking at some options. I'm all for bringing the Brit kids through but unfortunately there isn't enough coming through now. Sheffield have to look at next season and try and get one step ahead of the game with their plans. Albin has been a decent signing and very entertaining but needs to be in a good team to develop.
-
Nothing to loose now after a miserable season for the tigers. Can they bring someone in who his untried and would become an asset. Gino Manzares perhaps. Taylor Poole is worth a punt maybe if he would come over from Aussie. A no pressure signing with the future in mind who would benefit the asset base.

What is going on at sheffield speedway. Can someone enlighten me as to why Hall was replaced??

Big believer of the air/foam fences and rider safety is paramount. If its made compulsary a quick meeting with the owelerton owners should be able to iron that little problem out!!

Laugh Out Loud.....it's British Speedway

You can't compare the likes of F1 with speedway. One is a multi-million pound business involving some of the highest profile businesses and sports men on the planet. Yes it's a complex sport but it can afford to be. Speedway is simple - four blokes on bikes racing four laps - why the hell does it need complicating. Do you really believe the rules are not complicated for any neutral viewer or new fan? I think simplifying the rules and making the meetings run quicker will really help. Fans are drifting away and you have no chance of promoting the sport to potential customers wth the current regulations and state of the sport. Gary Havelock is a legend in my eyes and still learning the mangement role so I can let him off the hook. -

To be honest the whole affair came across on the TV as utter nonsense. The tactical rule farce is a complete joke any would be potential fans watching for the first time on live TV must just wonder what the hell is going on - even Havvy and the Coventry management didn't know who could take the ride. My point is the rule is ridiculous and makes me cringe. Surely in no other sport or serious competitive competition is a rival given a helping hand when losing. It's Mickey Mouse stuff - simple as that and that includes tac subs, golden jokers or what ever else they wish to call it. I'm a big believer that we need a squad system in place in the Elite at least. Guests and rider replacement is just not acceptable in a team competition when you expect riders associated with your team to be racing. Sweden seem to manage it or have in the past and it seems there speedway is a tad healthier than ours. Try being a neutral - a new viewer - a first timer - it's all a puzzle and about as easy to follow as underwater chess!!! -

British speedway is a complete farce. Tonight's live fiasco regarding the ridiculous double points and rider replacement/guest facility just make the sport look Mickey Mouse Both want ending immediately - time for a squad system in the elite league.
