Even though no meeting for the gladiators for two weeks could be interesting to see what hapens.

we could decide to leave the team as it is give a final warning to a few riders and say they have a few meetings to sort it out.

we could make some changes, interestingly roynon is being talked about being dropped by poole

could look at bringing batch and another 2 pointer ( hagon or Killeen) and run with 2 2 pointers instead of turned but have batch instead of starke.

Other than that I’m not sure who is out there, rew ? Hans Anderson ? Any other riders about there potentially available

Hands off Luke - he's in the Oxford line up but out with a wrist injury at present.

I recall Hans Nielsen commenting that it was long overdue that random drug testing was introduced to the sport and was in full favour of the practice back in the late eighties early nineties when it was well known that many riders were taking drugs.

Niels Kristian Iversen said pretty much the same a few years back.

Do Oxford fans earn less than Poole supporters, as there were easily a couple of hundred Pirates fans at Cowley on Tuesday.

Some of us are on a pension and with the rising cost of fuel, food heating etc can't afford to travel to away meetings like we used to.  At one time I wouldn't have missed a meeting, home or away, but now have to think  about what meetings I go to.  It doesn't make me any less of a supporter though.  Think yourself lucky that  you can afford it and make the most of it while you stIll can.

    Summers in 12 and 14?

If Scotty tried to jump the start in heat 7, why was he not of 15 m in heat 15 when it was called back.

Because he didn't touch the tapes!  Etheridge got away with a flyer earlier in the meeting.  Hope he's ok after his nasty looking fall.

Cracking meeting with an inconsistent Referee IMO.

Two incidents on run to the first turn where riders on gates one and two tangled up well before the bend. One is an exclusion and the other all four back. My vantage point while not as high up as the officials says its either both riders on gate 1 excluded after precedent set in heat 4.

As I said to a few people tonight if you watch a start head on in 90% at least of races the rider on gate 4 heads for the white line and the rider on gate 1 moves out to get a better line into the 1st turn.

Agree about the refereeing.  Nicol should definitely have gone. Brilliant meeting though.

Quite. Let the creative juices flow. Bring on Subbuteo speedway (under 45s reading this will now all hit Google), try to control your enthusiasm as you flick little plastic bikes around a miniature cardboard track. Only the smell of methanol will be missing.

Surely they could do a Scalextric speedway or Top Trumps - how many accidents, how many tapes exclusions (James Sargent !must be top), how many points etc!

I'm not sure what the rules say about riders taking to the track before racing starts, obviously we see riders on their bikes on parade but as for actually putting some laps in at racing speed I don't know where we stand. In all of my 44 years watching the sport I have only ever seen riders test the track once and that was one Good Friday morning at Oxford vs Cradley Heath. It was called off because the riders "couldn't turn their bikes" due to track conditions. After it was called off a few riders went out and did some practicing, if my memory serves me!

I remember that meeting.  The Oxford riders purposely went out to prove that the track was rideable even if a Cradley rider had unfortunately been injured.
