I just thought it was hypocritical of them talking about building sport in the city while assisting in closing down one of the oldest sporting venues in the north east, but it’s all down to money with them

The owners being a certain Rueben brothers who talk about the great city and how they love Newcastle but seem to want to close speedway down

They don’t need crowds in and they don’t need to improve the facilities as most of the revenue comes from the broadcast BAGS Meetings

They make their money from the BAGS meetings which are broadcast to most bookies the Ruben brothers own ARC and they are also partners in Newcastle united it’s a pity they couldn’t get involved and reduce the rent

Does anyone think there is a remote chance of getting new owners or are we just hoping for a miracle

Yes but we’ve heard he tried to sign a lot of riders and if what you say is correct why don’t they sign or does he not back it up

You probably only needed to add one of them to this years team with a decent reserve and we would have been competitive at home and kept the crowds, but no as THJ has already said Grant knew what he was doing putting a cheap poor team together banking on getting about 600 through the door to take the cash so he was trying to make mugs out of everyone from the start ive heard people calling him a legend to be an actual legend you have to have done something remotely legendary to deserve the title ……….the man will godown in folklore as something but it doesn’t remotely resemble that title

He seems to be doing his best to put of perspective new owners, can’t understand why ??

Think it’s been proven over the years put a decent team together and you will get the fans through the gate, getting thrashed at home with a poor team isn’t going to make people watch

What I can’t understand is why pay all that money to put a new track in to then close 2 meetings later,why didn’t he just shut up shop there and then hes starting to show his true colours now a total and utter charlatan

It should be made widely public about the air fence so that no one wants to touch it as it’s only going to be a speedway club that buys it

I appreciate you have probably had your fingers burned last time but I’m sure if someone like yourself was to get involved in trying to resurrect the team you would have all of the support of the fans and all of the goodwill and promises of financial help or support would still be there as we all want one thing a well run,entertaining speedway club that are good to watch and carry themselves with dignity and pride

Reading some of the comments on hear it would appear that he has thought he could take the supporters for mugs, made 22k from one meeting when closure was threatened and thought he could put a sub standard team out and the supporters would still turn up in droves because some speedway is better than no speedway and he would be quids in. the simple fact is all he had to do was put a team together that could be competitive at home and decent on their travels and the crowds would have remained as there was a feel good factor at the beginning of the season but that soon disappeared Rob has put his money in and probably lost a lot but to be fair most of that is his own doing

What about the likes of Dave tinning who has put up his hard earned cash you would suspect and a couple of main team sponsors where has all of their funds gone and the reputed 50k investment at the start of the season…..where has that gone

I go that way most days and it’s the first time I’ve seen it

We can all talk about what went on in the first year of the takeover with the vat and Covid but that’s not the reason it has come to this, Rob should have walked away last year when he announced it but he saw the crowds and the green eyed monster got the better of him,he put together a poor team and thought it would be okay so this is down to him and his management, the comment in the statement that riders did not want to come to Newcastle was solely down to him if you believe what you hear and that riders did not want to ride for him there was a lot of good will at the end of the season with moves afoot for people to come in and run the club but that has all been lost, I just hope those people would still be prepared to get involved and try and get it resurrected for this season

Makes you laugh I’ve just seen a lorry parked up on the Gateshead side of the Tyne bridge advertising the speedway, horse and bolted springs to mind

So if your saying he was offered 2 bikes and a guaranteed £1000 per meeting which sounds like a great deal to me, the fact that he turned that down to go to Oxford says a lot

Here’s the thing I can’t understand, Rob is obviously putting his own money in and good on him, but he can’t be happy loosing matches and revenue the way things are going so why doesn’t he change it and have the prospect of making a profit and a winning team is he just happy throwing money away

Thj, do you think if the worst happens there will still be the same will as last year to try and set something up

It’s to do with the team being poor……pure and simple

Reading between the lines there would appear to have been options at the end of last season when Rob decided to shut but I think the crowds at the end of the season get the better of him and the income, there are riders out there and you have to pay for them, I read somewhere that we were supposed to have an investment of 50k at the beginning of the season where has that gone or was that just me imagining it

Was watching on Bsn but it just embarrassing have turned off now, I have never seen a diamonds team put up as little fight,as it currently stand the lions reserves are paid for something like 18 points to newcastles 1 even the guests are not doing it which you can’t blame them, absolute disgrace and if something is not done you may as well shut the doors as they can’t be making any money

So even the managers in the stand can see it

We can argue till the cows came home about what was said but it doesn’t get away from the fact that the team is poor, one way to get fans back on side is go out and make some statement signings people will soon forget what was said in the star by & by whom, as already stated by others they are out there
